Duh.... just couldn't make sense of it. It's not that it went over my head - more like it kept bouncing off my forehead without penetrating through to my brain.
Thanks for the explanation. It was driving me a bit crazy. A short trip, admittedly...

Still makes no sense to Me.... or anyone outside of the US I should imagine

Good Thursday morning, July 25th to all. Had TGS yesterday. He was as adorable as always.

We're in the last-minute crunch period of our business right now, so plenty to look at and respond to on that front today. Received 19 cartons yesterday and more coming today. Fortunately, DH & I counted and sorted yesterday's group and will only have today's smaller shipment to manage this afternoon. Invoicing and other paperwork this morning.

Today's the hottest day in the local ten day forecast with101°-ish for a high. Sure, it low humidity, but 101 is still 101. God bless air conditioning.

Hope all have a good day!!!

I had a lovely day out, bought some yoga pants and a cardigan. Granddaughter bought a few bits and pieces. Son sat outside on a bench while we shopped. ;) Went for a meal then onto the book shop where I spent a bit more money. Finished off having coffee and cake in a cafe then son waved us both off on our train while he caught another train down to London before heading off to Europe ... work related.

I feel I may have been a bit misleading in my post. I have been out of the house since lockdown but, until recently, only as far as walking from my house to either of my son's cars when they would take me to appointments, post office or their houses for meals/quiz nights etc. as I could only walk a few yards, even with crutches. This was due to arthritis of the hip which during lockdown went rapidly downhill.

Thankfully, finally had hip replacement a few months back and have worked hard doing my exercises and gradually increasing my walking, which is where taking eldest son's dog for daily walks has really helped. So, today was my first train journey and trip outside of town since before lockdown. I'm even enjoying being able to do housework again. :p

Sixth and last cancer treatment of this series today. They really hurt me last week and I am just now feeling somewhat myself. I hope this last one doesn't start me bleeding heavily again. After today I will have nearly a month and a half to recover before I see the doctor.
Good luck today, Llynn. Only people who have had these treatments would really know how difficult they are.

We attended a public meeting last evening where government reps, fire-fighting team leaders, and police addressed us locals about the wildfires. Today we took the, for us, unprecedented step of renting a storage locker. We're storing things that are especially important to us there, due to the nearby fires being unpredictable. The as yet out-of-control wildfires jeopardize our home and other buildings on our property.

Two friends helped load our pickup, as well as their own, and we drove stuff to the locker. DW and I will drive another load there tomorrow. The locker is a half-hour drive from our place. On the drive back home, we noticed that ground-level winds had shifted and at that time there was less smokey air along the highway. A relief, though maybe only temporary.

Llynn... you're soo brave and so stoical...... I 'm in awe of what you've endured and still taking it all in your stride...

What have they told you about what happens after today ?

I was able to go down and wash clothes and was back up stairs by 1:40 a.m. If I had paid attention to the Accuweather app, I never would have gone downstairs, so I'm glad I checked out other weather apps. They need to drop that Accuweather has superior accuracy crap. I started drying the clothes earlier than usual and had to put away laundry from a few days ago to make room in the basket. I put away mostly all of what I did today except I've run out of room in the linen closet for some hand towels and wash cloths, so I'll pull out the jumbo space bag that has guest towels in it and store them in there.

I did some financial stuff, including sending an email with my granddaughter's next practical finance assignments. We'll discuss each one during our next financial workshop session on Wednesday. I told her to call this and the budgets she creates her Financial Empowerment Plan (FEP). That's how I refer to mine. She liked that.

I've noticed this lately.

I have always had accuweather app on my phone, and it's always been very reliable...until recently.. and now it 's so bad that you can pretty much know that whatever it forecasts it's going to be the opposite in reality...

Just about HD! Have you noticed that the weather symbols they use often don't match what the actual forecasts say sometimes? I also have The Weather Channel and an app that came on the phone that is by Norwegian Meteorological Institute.

Much the same with the Met office forecasts. It can just about get the day correct.
