Our invitation to bring our classic MG along to Summertime Swing arrived in the mail this morning. We have been supporting this event for the last twenty years. It's a bit of a journey for the old car, but with a careful drive and frequent rest stops, we always get there.
Our love of the Big Band era has us indulging in many a festival, which we prefer to that of a week on a sunbed on the Costa-Paquette, each to their own. This year though, with my other half awaiting surgery, it would be folly to book so it's a case of turn up and hope.

That said, the organisers that I have been in touch with, to explain our predicament, have been very helpful. So, unless there's a call from the hospital we shall be off to:

Summertime Swing, a week later, Retrofestival & Twinwood at the end of the month.
And if all goes well we shall be off to The Goodwood Revival in September.

@horseless carriage Good for you and Mrs. HC. It's always good to have a PlanB. I hope you get to go to all of them.

I'm off this morning to get my eyes "measured" for the new cataract lenses. The surgery isn't for another month. If I'm lucky, after the surgery, I won't have to wear glasses except maybe for readers.

Right now I gotta get a wiggle on because we leave in an hour.

@hollydolly You be in charge and take names, okay?

Good morning! I'm up a little early this morning. Well.....out of bed, anyway.

It's cloudy out, so still dark. I'm going to let Goober sleep in for a bit. I'll have my coffee first, then put him out and take him for a walk.

My knee did not keep my up during the night (

), but I'm still very sleepy. Friday is usually a "don't do much" day.....sounds good to me!

Good Friday Morning to everyone. I'm mostly finished with my "to do" list, so I think I'll drive over to the beach (New Smyrna? Daytona?) for a bit, and have lunch. It's about an hour and a half drive, and the weather forecast is good - high 80s, no rain. Since I'm planning to move back to Ohio in the near future, this may be my last beach trip....

I can't promise that I'll behave.....

If I had paid attention to the Accuweather app
I've noticed this lately.

I have always had accuweather app on my phone, and it's always been very reliable...until recently.. and now it 's so bad that you can pretty much know that whatever it forecasts it's going to be the opposite in reality...
I call it that source the "not so Accuweather" weather. I use weather.com and wunderground.com websites. I don't use apps because of the tracking.

I've just downloaded the Norwegian YR.no app that Diva mentioned ... we'll see how that goes,

Last 2 weeks I have written down the forecast of 6 weather sites for the whole week..including The BBC, The Met office . weather.com, accuweather, wunderground, and a local forecaster...

I could have pulled a piece of paper out of a hat, because none of them got it right...for the week...one would get it for Wednesday.. the others would have the opposite for the same day... the next day someone else got it right, and the others wrong.. I am fed up to the back teeth planning my next day around the weather only to find it's not what was forecast..

Happy Friday, July 26. Good heavens, can it be we're almost at the end of July? Next month, Christmas decorations will start appearing in stores. Not joking about that...

We'll pick TGS up from daycare today and keep him until late Saturday afternoon. Early Sunday morning, DD and family leave for a two day water park visit, and we'll watch their two dogs while they're away. TGS is intimidated by DD's rambunctious, nine-month-old golden retriever puppy, so we need to be sure he's gone before the dogs arrive.

Between yesterday afternoon and this morning, I'm caught up on my business chores and will start on a little housecleaning AFTER I finish breakfast and gabbing with y'all!

I can't promise that I'll behave.....
Can't leave you unsupervised for even just a little while!

You gotta excuse me for a couple of hours yet because the ophthalmologist dilated my eyes in the process of measuring. Gosh. Never had my eyeballs measured before. And check this: one of the pieces of equipment had a label on it that declared it was an ultrasound machine. Nobody told me whether my eyes are boy eyes or girl eyes.

guess you'll have to wait for the "gender reveal" party.

Welp, winds just blew down large long limb from
a tree out front....e-mailed the landlord....whole tree is
dead, been asking for removal for 2 3 yrs......
Hope that tree doesn't fall down on your house!

Hey..did I tell y'all that I really did clean the fridge yesterday? Well. Most of it. Tomorrow I'm gonna clean the shelves in the door. It'll be interesting to see how many things on those shelves expired in 2010 :ROFLMAO:

After the shelves have been cleaned...wait for it...I'm gonna clean the freezer. Nothing in there is expired for sure. There's hardly anything in there besides a couple of nuke meals and ice cream.

It didn't rain today, and it's not supposed to rain tomorrow, either, unless there's a pop-up storm here or there. If I can light a fire🔥 under my bony behind, I'm gonna do some overdue deadheading and weeding. If.

And, yes, there's more. I mowed ad spread weed & feed on Wednesday. I swear the lawn is already greener and it's grown enough so that I may have to mow again tomorrow:oops:.

DH and I went to Sam's today and stocked up on a lot of stuff!
Napkins, kleenex, water, zip lock bags of all sizes and kinds, storage bins, co q 10 he wants to try, and can't leave without a rotisserie chicken.

Then to Lowe's to purchase a new toilet for the guest bathroom. We'll use that when master bath gets painted and it's toilet is out and disposed of. Then new toilet and floor in this bathroom with the new shower.
Wow, I don't know how to act with all this new stuff!
DH has also been slowly replacing all doorknobs and hinges in the house. What a difference it makes!

Today the rain was just sprinkles. It was overcast and cooler, 78° and it felt like a fall day.
We've discovered IHOP lately. They have a senior menu that's reasonably priced.
DH of course had breakfast. I had pot roast, mashed potatoes, broccoli, and garlic bread. Very good but a bit salty.
We usually get fajitas on Friday and sometimes soup, salad, and breadsticks at Olive Garden.

We took a drive today in search of getting a replacement truck bed.
Ours is rusted.

Hubby was looking for one that matches the truck's color.
Ones he looked at had dents ,none the right color.

He decided to get the local body shop, to cut out the rusty area & replace it with steel.
Not sure if he will look for replacement doors for it .

Will talk with our son & see what he suggests.

Just some of our activities today.

Left: My daughter is cutting weeds and also washed our cars. I wish as a teenager she had been that helpful.
Right: My pups get so excited driving in a car. We take them with us whenever possible, like today to the nearby supermarket.
Of course, they have to stay in the car. So, we can take them only at low temperatures, more often in winter than in summer.

I am loading Eucalyptus firewood. To sell it, I would have to cut the chunks into smaller pieces, and that takes more strength than
I have left. To bring it to the dump, I would have to pay. So, the best solution is to just give it away for free.

Left: Commercial trash collection is expensive. It's cheaper driving 20 miles to the nearest Public Dump every two or three weeks.
Right: On my way to the Dump, I passed this official one-room U.S. Post Office in Moreno Valley. Is this the smallest P.O. in America?

And while I am sitting at home (my choice) my wife and older daughter, home on vacation for 6 weeks, are to the movies, dining, and shopping which is something that would bore me to death. After working in China for ten years, my daughter is contemplating of coming home next year.

OK, they came back at 9:00 p.m. and brought my favorite "Chile Relleno" home for me. Sorry, I had dinner at 6:00 p.m. and always have a mini fast till 8:00 in the morning. Thanks, but it will be my lunch for tomorrow no matter how much my mouth is watering right now.

We still carry our trash to the local trash/recycle drop off. We recycle all our glass, cans/metal, paper, etc.
Everyone around us uses weekly pick up. I don't know if they take recycling separately or not.
We don't go weekly. No garbage goes in the trash. Bones, meat packaging, fat, anything stinky goes in a bag in the garage freezer. That way our trash bags don't smell or draw varmints (as Granny Clampett 👵 would say).
Yes. My kids are much more willing to help now than when they were teens! 😊
