How is your day Today, plans and achievements 2024....

The weather is going to be dry and cooler today. Eighties! So I need to get out and putter around the yard.
I also want to make a big batch of basic old fashioned vegetable soup to freeze in batches.
Yesterday, I got all the ingredients that I didn't have which was potatoes and frozen green beans. I have corn, peas, onion, celery, and carrots. I have scraps in the freezer to make a broth which are bits of onion, celery, carrot tops, and I'm deciding if I want to make it purely vegetarian or add some chicken carcasses that are also in the freezer.
I think not because I want this vegetable base that I can add any leftover meat to after thawing portions.
I'm thinking out loud. 🤔 Carry on. 🤗
 

On my early walk at 6:40,temp was 62 refreshing but a bit cool wore my hoodie as I went to buy local paper,walked back around the building complex
Today 36 yrs ago, I bought my 1bdrm co op apt, at the time thought it would be last place I would moved to,felt that way for many yrs,but the last 5 wanted to leave got tired of living there. When Canterbury Woods- Gates opened in Oct 2017, I began to think this would be a better place for me, certainly is,love living here The only big adjustment for me was not seeing my friends at the other place on a daily basis, but I stay in contact ,invite them over for lunch, only 3 blocks away
This morning, my friend, Mary&I going on our weekly 'road trip' to Target need couple items. She told me when I was moving we would continue doing this which is always fun,lots of laughs. We started doing this 4 yrs ago,I didn't know her that well,saw her maybe once/wk she was still working I certainly know her better now,In return,I give her magazines I subscribe to, daily NYT when I'm done reading,local Sun paper, Its worked out well
The rest of my day take a couple more walks, read NYT, my book
 
Morning gang, too early for me to type but hear goes anyway,
70F out there, had some rain overnite but no bad storms, may
get mor e rain today....slept pretty well, did hear an owl outside
at some point last nite, no giant plans for the day....I treated
myself to Arby's sammiches last eve, got enuff left for 2 days
I think....very muggy today./..ah well, no major pains yea......bye
 
A lovely 68F so far. I'm going to my doc's office for a throat swab as it's been very sore for about a week now. They want to do a nose swab for a covid test, but I dunno about that. The sneezing is about over.

Yesterday I washed windows inside and out, with my new window washer/squeegee. One more to go downstairs, There's only 2 upstairs.

A tip I'd like to share... you know that brown paper Amazon puts in their boxes? That works better on windows than paper towels. You just have to smooth it out and fold it. But now I use the squeegee.

Made another mix of zucchini, tomatoes, onions and garlic for supper last night. Mmmm.
 
I had a very strange dream last night.
Yesterday I'd been contacted by a couple who are interested in my house, and even tho' I can't sell at the moment they said they would be interested if and when I put it up for sale..
In the meantime I;d been looking at apartments in the city as a possible for me in the future.. that was yesterday...

Well last night I dreamt that this couple who contacted me .. who I've never met or seen.. were a Young Indian couple , with 2 boys around 12 years old , the wife was in a wheelchair.. ( dunno where I got this from in my mind )
They came to look at my house and loved it instantly.. and wanted to move in immediately.. The young wife was so delighted by the swimming pool that she threw herself in including the wheelchair, followed swiftly by her husband fully dressed in his armani suit.. The twin boys didn't jump in but they too were dressed in armani suits..
They kept begging for me to just let them have the keys there and then .. and I couldn't because I hadn't told them I'd already sold it to someone else even tho' I'd promised it to them..:eek:

I don't even have a pool....:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I was gonna ask why you never mentioned your pool before and why you didn't just take a dip whenever you got too warm.

Did you really check out apartments in the city yesterday or was that part of the dream?

Weeding and watering done for the day. The weathernerds are saying we'll get brief thunderstorms this afternoon. I'll believe it when it happens. We're officially suffering from drought conditions.

Laundering bed linens right now. All the other stuff is done and folded.

I'm gonna rest for a while because I feel kinda weak and weary.

No I really did check for city apartments yesterday.. and a Man did contact me about my house... but the rest was the dream.....

I made my vegetable soup. A lot of work but worth it.
I had bought some cans of soup to have when we have a sandwich. Some are good but most are bland, or salty, or chemical tasting. I wanted some good old fashioned soup.

I ended using up a lot of frozen veggies that needed to be used up-bonus.
I made it exactly like the recipe but added a teaspoon of sugar. 👍

OH!! and 1/2 Tbsp salt, not a whole Tblsp!

I always make my own Vegetable soup..or lentil & bacon soup with veggies, using all fresh ingredients..

A friend of a friend decided she was going to make home made organic tomato soup from all the glut of tomatoes she'd got in her harvest..

She boiled the tomatoes, added all the different ingredients, and cooked it most of the day, but she wasn't satisfied with it. She said... its just too thin.. how do I thicken this ''... and she promptly emptied a couple of tins of Campbells tomato soup into it.. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I feel that I need to make soup to freeze on a regular basis. Lentil with bacon sounds delish!

oooh it really is. What I do is boil a bacon joint for an hour or so.. then I make the lentil & veggie soup from the stock, adding more boiling water if necessary .. than add some of the finely chopped bacon joint to it, then simmer for about 40 minutes .. Then freeze in portions when cooled..

Not only do I have lot of soup in the freezer, I also get the rest of the bacon joint..yuuummmmmy :p

people mistake Gammon for Bacon joint but it's not the same.
 
Luckily I didn’t go to my friend’s house Monday to help her downsize because we were too smoky to be outside with my asthma. Luckily it was gone by the next day. I finally was able to get my sweeping, dusting and mopping done. I’ll be back at it tomorrow.

We have cooled down to 54 at night and 80 during the day. I haven’t needed to use my AC. It’s nice not to have to take my walk by 8 because of the heat.

My Dil is visiting family in Poland and having a great time. Unfortunately it’s very hot and humid and few have AC. After having to live without it when younger I could never do without it now. I’d never sleep.
 
oh okay....got a funny about Canadian Bacon, when my lady
was coming down from toronto to visit me in missouri I asked
to bring some canadian bacon along, well she did, but it was
same type bacon we have here LOL...guess the customs people
gave her a funny look also LOL....
