How is your day Today, plans and achievements 2024....

Warm here yet but a gloomy overcast day instead of the last few sunny days. One thing after another annoying me from existential, to merely philosophical, to trivial. I'm now making a conscious effort to suck it up, push things down, and move on for now. I can analyze and conquer (or accept as silly and discard) these feelings one by one over the coming days rather than be squashed under the big ball of them together. Reveling in the good while tackling the difficult one demon at a time feels more productive. I will not play Sisyphus enduring the punishment of the gods.

Lovely day baking 🥐 and 🍪 today. Sir and NL were both there because "company" was coming at 10. Expected at 10, that is. When I left at 11:30, "company" was nowhere in sight. We got a lot done, though, so maybe it'll make tomorrow easier.

NL was tasked with making chocolate-covered strawberries🍓 Holy cow. A dozen of those babies? $20. Half dozen? $12. Just four? $8. However...lots going on in the store this morning with freebies and other stuff for Valentine's Day and for Super Bowl Sunday. One of the freebies is a chocolate-covered strawberry. Only one, though.

The lawn was going to be fertilized this afternoon, but I bought the wrong kind of stuff. It's only weed killer with no fertilizer. After work tomorrow, it goes back for the right stuff. I will read the label this time instead of letting the price influence me. Penny wise and pound foolish. Jussayin.

Gonna spend the afternoon doing nothing much. Watching reruns and falling asleep so that when I wake up in the middle of the program, I won't know what's going on

Trimmed foliage back, raked leaves away from house so DH could mow them up. Cut back Cannes plants and others.
Burned half of the leaves. Moved some big logs to the back of the yard in a neat row.
That last one did me in. I'm on a coffee break.
DH is burning the rest of the leaves I see. Yay.

Our walk this morning.

Colorado? No, San Bernardino Mountains in Southern California. About 11,500 feet.
Right now you'll need snow chains driving up for skiing and to the mountains resorts.

San Gabriel Mountains can be seen from Los Angeles. About 10,000 feet high. The recent atmospheric
river originated south of Hawaii (a.k.a. Pineapple Express) and was relatively warm. Only when we get
a cold storm from the Gulf of Alaska, then the snow level drops down to the foothills.

One more river to cross (children's song.) My pups don't like to get their paws muddy.
IMGP2014.JPG

Mt. San Jacinto apparently didn't get much snow.
Also about 10,000 ft. A cable car goes up to 8,500 ft.

I took the great-granddaughters (4 and 7) to the State Fair today. Oh my aching body.

They both like thrill rides but they're not old enough to go on them without a "responsible adult".

Now I've never claimed to be such a creature, but apparently the State Fair feels that I qualify. As I said, oh my aching body.

I did have a corn dog, some mini-donuts fresh from the fryer, half an "elephant's ear" and some really good artesanal root beer and that was good for the soul. I don't want to think how bad it was for my diet....

Just appalling the price of seats at some Sports venues. I prefer to watch it on Tv because I get to see the whole field, and every action, but I know many people love the whole atmosphere of being at the Stadium, and they get ripped off by some clubs for being loyal supporters...

It's the same with F1... I love to watch it.. and I would love to go to a stadium, but OMG the price of tickets...
I gave up on international rugby and Test Cricket way back in the nineties when prices reached £25..but my semi-pro rugby club ( of which I am a shareholder)charge we seniors £10 to get in and I think that’s too much :)

Today's activity was unplanned. My honorary daughter (HD) called and invited me to a pre-Valentines Day Jazz brunch. It was held at a club she frequents...think of Cheers...where everybody knows your name. In fact, HD went and helped set up before she picked me up. We had seen the 5 piece band before but today they outdid themselves. There's nothing like live music and I enjoyed myself immensely. 🎷🎸🎶

My accomplishment was figuring out what to wear and getting the top ready on time. I avoided having to iron by spraying the red silk top, throwing it in the dryer with a wet cloth then spraying it with no iron spray to get the remaining wrinkles out. I wore it with a black pant suit. Last time I tried to wear that suit, I couldn't close the button or zip up the pants!

Yesterday was an accomplishment but I got tired, slept for several hours and when I woke up it was after midnight, so it was too late to post for that day. I went to the gym again. I realized I could probably use my son's Black Card membership (which he hardly uses and allows him to bring a guest). Sure enough, downloaded the app, he gave me his login and it was no problem.

I was having trouble getting their treadmills and biking equipment to work. My son had to show me when we went a couple of weeks ago. Since I got there much later than planned and wanted to also get to the supermarket before a certain time, I just used the rowing machine for 30 minutes. Of course, I walked to the supermarket too, so that was enough exercise.

Sounds like a great day at the Jazz Brunch, @OneEyedDiva
It really was Jules. And my HD made sure that the owner, who she's close friends with, booked them for the next performance before they left. They last appeared there in April. They will be back mid April for the next gig. Also, I connected with a couple of the band members...we exchanged numbers and will keep each other apprised of our individual projects.

Good morning. It's 61F here and raining.

I woke up by myself today and not jarred awake by that blankety-blank alarm. Time to throw on my baking duds and get to work.

Y'all behave while I'm at work. Tomorrow is a welcome day off so I'll be here to keep tabs on wayward posters. Jussayin.

Glorious sunny day today. 11.40am..... I have to leave in about an hour or so to drive to another town to get an Ultrasound scan at the hospital..

I'm dreading this one, I've had it before and due to the nature of where the problem is, It's very painful to have the US scan done.

I'm not allowed to eat or drink anything but water, so I'm very hungry...

Went to bed @ 9, last night, got up @4:30. I am totally screwed up, today. I've been making the same breaky for over 20 years. I've got it down to a science-not one wasted movement-total time 25-30 minutes. Time , today, 1hour, 10. And I'm putting the eggs in the cupboard, and stuck the bread in the freezer. Even if I stayed in bed, I probably would have broken my leg or something.

Yeah, having done one recently I get that. I got lucky and had mine at 8:15 so the dry-fasting was all overnight and less of a Tantalean punishment.

Fasting glucose tested at 81 this morning, well into the normal range. Weight loss continues. I know lots of people don't tolerate Metformin well but I can't really complain.

Up & at em!

Well,, I really have no idea for sure what we are doing today.

I would like to go to the farm store get some more doggie treats, mineral block for the deer, some bags of potting soil.
Must get up & head for the shower. while hubby loads firewood.

Our nephew called & said he. wanted another load of wood.

Hubby got the truck stuck in his yard.
Had to come back & get another truck to pull himself out.

To confuse everyone more ,, this isn't the same nephew that had the downed apple tree.

Should explain, that BIL & his son live. down the road from us.
SIL & her 3 sons live up the road from us.
And my niece lives across the road from us.

Yup,, family is close but usually we only get calls IF someone needs help.:rolleyes:
