Back home...it;s 6.45pm and dark... . I was super surprised at the amount of people at the hospital. I thought perhaps the radiology department was going to be the only one open being as it's Sunday, but no... much of the hospital was running as usual, and it was so packed with people, I had to park on the 5th floor of the car park because it was choc-a-block...

I was about 1/2 early for my appointment, not too may people waiting , so I got taken at 1.45pm my appointment time.

The roads were jammed solid.. I was wondering what was going on it was so busy, then I thought I would go and treat myself to some lunch at the pub after I had my scan.... it was only when I saw the huge queues it suddenly dawned on me that it's Valentines day weekend.. and everyone's out buying or celebrating.. so I didn't bother with the lunch..

Instead I stopped at M&S food hall and bought up some cheese scones.. in bulk.. so I can freeze them as I always do.. and some Spiced currant buns..

Further on, I went to Dunelm and found a single size ottoman box that I've been searching online for.. at only £20... for Faux leather

..and got a pair of Duck feather and down Pillows...

Anyway...I have good and bad news.. the bad news is that they've found something in my abdomen which shouldn't be there... the better news is that it can be treated.. , the bad news is that I'll no doubt have to wait in a queue of weeks or months for treatment, not going to go into any more detail than that...

However what is good about it, if there's a good side is that I've been complaining about this for a few years.. it's always been dismissed as 'nothing found''... today they found it easily and showed me on the screen...

I'm home. SF is acting all wonky

Busy morning at the mine today. And the pager kept asking for "all available courtesy clerks" to report to the checkout lanes. I thought, "What? Are we expecting an ice storm?" Nope. Forgot that it's Super Bowl Sunday. All the self-checkout and "real" checkout lanes were open; people lined up all the way into the aisles. It looked like the day before Thanksgiving or Christmas Eve! Sure glad I'm not a courtesy clerk and equally as glad that I don't work in the deli.

And then...two days before Shrove Tuesday, people really thought we'd still have King cake? C'mon! We've been sold out since noon yesterday. They've been selling at a pretty good clip for the past month. Got lots of valentine cookies and cakes, though.

It's overcast but not raining and not expected to now until later this evening. "They" lie about the weather all the time. I did exchange the stuff I bought yesterday for "real" fertilizer and fertilized the lawn. I sure hope the rain that's been promised happens because that stuff has to be watered in.

DSIL is sick again. Probably Covid but he doesn't even bother to test anymore. Flu, Covid, cold...six of one/half dozen of the other. If it's Covid, this will make the third...wait, maybe fourth?...time for him. He's been under the weather for three days. DGS was supposed to come for dinner and to watch the Super Bowl game this evening, but that's out of the question now so no big dinner for us. DD is going to make red beans and rice instead. Fine. I like red beans and rice.

Naptime.

Looks like snow for us starting late tomorrow night and all day Tues.

Today, all the reactions to my shots are gone, thank God!
Our snow started early last night and it is finally easing off. It’s very heavy, wet stuff.

Rose, I don’t know if it’s accurate but senior friends have had reactions when they had more than one type of shot at a time. It doesn’t seem to bother younger people. I decided to make two trips rather than risk it. We can’t get RSV here so there wouldn’t be a third trip.

Fiddlesticks. The computer effed up our work schedule again, and the assistant store manager who's supposed to catch that stuff was off yesterday and today so it got entered as gospel  Now Sir will jump through hoops to get it fixed.

Red beans and rice has been consumed. Yum.

Guess who isn't going to watch the Super Bowl? I'll see the commercials in news clips tomorrow. There are murder shows to watch. I mean, priorities!

It’s thundering now; I love a good thunderstorm ⛈️☔🌧️

Ed and I finished “Hatchet” by Gary Paulsen today. He really enjoyed it…. It didn’t put him to sleep like some of the other books I’ve picked, lol. I think it helped there was just one character to keep up with too. And it was a survival story

Not sure what tomorrow will bring… it would be great if my car was fixed but I’m not holding my breath.

I watched some series on Amazon today. Started in on “Balgravia” but kind of got fed up mid-third episode. Just so melodrama. Also watched another early episode of “Vera”. I totally love how when she’s stressed, she answers the phone, “WHAT?!” Hahaha, there’s so many times I’ve wanted to do that 😆😋

There is much talk about health on this Forum. Although I may have given the impression of being super healthy, this is not the case. Here are some of my health issues:

3 Hernia surgeries --- ruptured Achilles tendon repair --- breaking the fibula bone in my right leg --- prostate cancer surgery --- 2 skin cancer surgeries including melanoma --- cataract surgeries in both eyes --- bunion surgery --- urethral sling surgery --- colonoscopy with removal of potential cancer lesions --- 5th vertebrae crushed in a ski accident that created a life-long problem --- backbone osteoporosis --- finger arthritis that I reversed with warm gloves and Voltaren cream--- numerous pre-skin-cancers removed --- lipomas --- trigger fingers mostly reversed --- ruptured nerves in toes --- snoring --- well controlled knee arthritis.

And more: controlled pre-diabetes --- overweight --- prescription medication: Atorvastatin for cholesterol, Amlodipine for hypertension, and Jublia for nail fungus --- 3 of 4 tendons in my right shoulder are torn loose, and I am using my mini gym to strengthen my shoulder muscles to compensate --- I am wearing hearing aids--- glasses for driving --- my shoes need arch supports --- tendons and muscles in my left hip are torn, and I start limping if I am walking too fast --- and I probably forgot a bunch. I nearly drowned three times in my life, and almost died in a car accident.

But undeterred, I am keeping myself physically active. I am also a health fanatic: no junk and fast food, I am eating plenty of fruits, while my dear wife feeds me plenty of healthy veggies. There is much controversy about nutritional supplements. I am taking more than two dozen because I believe my body’s chemical factory at my age is just no longer that efficient and needs support. My driving license is valid till age 93, and I intend to have it renewed till age 98. Quitting is not an option for me, German being my mother language, having lived on 3 continents, studied in 4 countries, and always having been self-supporting.

But I know: the day will come when God calls me. Our bodies are made of stardust and will again become stardust, but our spirits will live forever in heaven. I know because the spirit of my mother has helped and guided me throughout my life. My mother has given me the strength to survive all odds.

That's why you're pack leader, @packleader!

I finally finished the afghan my husband's aunt started many years ago before she died. Her part has the professional touch my part has the novice touch but I hung in there.
The reason it took so long is that the yarn was not found until my mother in law passed away years later when they were cleaning her house.
I finished watching 'This is Us' last night. I tried to watch the Superbowl but.......no.

wow that's a beauty...Novice?.. not in MY eyes...

I want to know how to reverse Arthritis in my fingers and in my knees... don't tell me Gloves and Voltarol... no-one whose had Osteoarthritis has ever been cured by topical lotions and Gloves....god alone knows all of us with OA have tried that.. and none of us including me would have gone down the steroid injection route if heat and lotion was all it took to take away the pain..
