Happy to say I finished my to-do list from yesterday, which was really from the day before, but who's counting?

Business chore completed, desk cleared of the paperwork that piled up over the holidays.

Today - grocery shopping for sure.

For the past 30-ish years I've kept all my recipes in a big (3") binder. Like regular cookbooks, recipes are separated by course and type of food. I type them, place in plastic sleeves, then put them in the cookbook, plus add them to the front chapters and the back index.

I write notes on the recipes as I adjust, refine, and adapt former much-loved meat/dairy recipes to healthier WFPB versions.

It's long past time to go through the book, chapter and verse, pull up my original (typed) versions on my desktop, edit with the notes and changes, then save and print the updated versions.

It'll take several days to accomplish this, but it's been on my mind for over a year. Since no GK babysitting is scheduled until next Monday, and DH insists on delaying putting away Christmas decorations until my bruised/broken ribs feel better (I'm nowhere near that yet), the next four days offer a good window to attack the recipe book.

Well I'm not long back from a trip to collect my new sunglasses.. and get my nails done.. in North London..

I've written a separate post about the darn Opticians.. so I won't bore you with it here.. but annoyed is the least of it...

Got my nails done.. and for the first time I got Pale blue Varnish.. now it's on me I'm not keen 😣... . Still, it matched my baby blue jacket that I had on today..lol...

Traffic was very heavy.. rain and very heavy clouds today, kids went to back to school so the roads were choc-a-block

Picked up a bunch of groceries because my MOT on my car runs out today and the car is booked in to have it done on Monday, so strictly speaking I'm not supposed to drive it between now and then, except to get it to the garage.

Dark now..at 4.25....

I overslept this morning.......almost seven when I got up. So this messes up my morning and how I do things. Then my neighbor/friend stopped by for a visit and I was STILL in my nightgown! I was getting my shower ready when she came so I was really running late. Now I am back from the laundry room and getting my 2nd load ready to take downstairs when the 1st machine is done.

I always have to remind myself that it doesn't matter if my routine is messed up.......nobody cares. But at least I will have my laundry done.

My geriatric car actually passed inspection. The mechanic also said I was overdue for an oil change (their records showed it was done about 5 years ago). I said I didn't drive it much since I retired and though the span to change motor oil was based on mileage. The answer: Five years is too long for oil to sit in an engine. Might as well get everything done in one stop.

I am sick today. Last night, not to sound too disgusting, I had something that effected both ends. Plus chills where I could not get warm.
The saving grace is when you run out of things to expelled from your body.
Today I just feel bad.
So much going around and I swear since covid I have been sicker than ever in my life.
Colds, etc.

Spent nearly the entire day working on my water heater. The water was getting way too hot and I kept having to use the reset button. It would not drain, so I had to dig around in the muck with a wire until I got that going. It has come back on now and I should be able to have a warm shower tonight. If it kicks the reset again I will go to town tomorrow and get a new lower thermostat. Hope that takes care of it because I really don't want to spend what it costs to have it replaced.

Going to have a philly cheese sandwich 😁 I just ordered delivery.

Going to try and clean doggies ears. I have to be sneaky about it or she will run and hide.

By the way, her medicine continues to help her so far. Trying to somewhat prepare myself in case her illness gets worse. I don't want that to totally consume my thoughts though. Striking a balance is important.

Not an exciting day but the weather says we will have rain tonight and early morning tomorrow. I got a shower and got dressed. My snack reserves were running low and I need to refill.

I find that I am snacking more than making proper meals. I am not going to worry about it. I have plenty of meats and produce when I want to cook.

I ran to the neighborhood Walmart and got microwave popcorn snack bags. I seem to be stuck on these right now. Got a box of Cheese Nips, a block of cheddar, chocolate and vanilla ice cream.

I also picked up a quart of half and half, I have really enjoyed hot cups of tea in the chilly weather. Also, a bag of carrots, some small red new potatoes and a little bag of fresh green beans. The green beans and carrots are also used as treats for the dogs. I see a nice pot of beef stew coming in the next week.

Sometimes I think I am the most boring person on earth but then I stop and realize part of the problem is I can't physically do a lot of the things I enjoyed so much in the past. That is the problem with getting older you have to give up much loved activities because you have come to accept you can't do it. I giggle now when I get something done I thought I could not do.

Another day, another dollar.

This afternoon I have two doc appointments, one with a dermatologist and one with a cardiologist. I don't wannnnnnna! The derma doc will probably freeze off a mole on my forehead (ouch), and the cardio doc will no doubt order tests and more tests. Ugh. Is it ok if I just skip it? The only reason I'm going is because my PCP said I have to. Or else.

Holy carp! I just cancelled Amazon Prime and saw that it wasn't $12.99. I was paying $14.99, so instead of $158/year, it was costing me $180/year. Granted, $22 isn't a whole lotta lettuce, but still...
After having it for years, I finally stopped a year or so ago. Don't miss it... not even a little bit. I'd been paying that annual fee basically for free shipping but I still get that if I wait until I have a $35 order, so it hasn't been a hardship.

Oh I really wish I hadn't read this... I've been so hungry for one of those and now I'll have to go get one. :giggle: My day... well, I did those "before the storm" errands yesterday, so today we're just sitting at home waiting for tomorrow's storm. Hoping with all fingers and toes crossed that it will somehow blow over this area. 🤞🤞
