How is your day Today, plans and achievements 2024....

Perhaps some late January-March storms will arrive to save the day by bumping snowpack and rainfall amounts to at least average levels. The long range forecast shows possible rain Jan 14-19; maybe at least some will come to fruition.

Stocked up on fresh veggies yesterday, hallelujah! Surprise - the store had big bins of beautiful peaches and nectarines, but at $2.99/lb I bypassed them. Must have been a shipment from Chile or elsewhere in S.A.

The recipe book reorganizing project didn't get nearly as far as hoped/expected - only got about 1/8 of the way through. Sadness...

Between a couple of hour shopping break, an acupuncture appointment, and a still-quite-sore rib, I couldn't devote as much time as planned. Bigger problems: organization doesn't come naturally for me AND I'm very, very easily distracted (ADHD). That's why this kind of project takes me a lot longer than people with even average organization skills.

Nevertheless, she persisted.... After checking out what y'all are up to, I'll pick up where I left off yesterday but only after rearranging my workspace to reduce the rib-irritating torso twisting. With fewer errands scheduled today, I'm hoping for better progress. 🤞
I also have less than average organizing skills. It's always a challenge for me, so I understand how disappointing slow results can be.

Hang in there.....don't give up!

Back from Walmart. It was a good bus ride and shopping was good too. The only thing is that my friend read the wrong bus schedule and we were waiting a long time for the bus. In the cold! So I called the bus office and then we waited inside the doors to our building till it was time. This trip was pretty good because she picked up other passengers from other stops. It was good to see new faces!

First groceries shop for 2024. Got to wear my new black/white tartan wool wrap coat today, no rain and gorgeous day.

Got some, 2for1, Thai Chicken Green Curry with sticky rice for lunch today. 3for6 Chinese Takeaway Noodle Dishes and a Special Fried Rice for tomorrow's lunch. Weekend meals, Hunter's Style Chicken Kiev's 2for1 so two dinner meals.

Got Spicy Chili sauce, red kidney beans and baked beans for Monday's dinner of Chili and Rice meal. Cold cuts/Deli meats were on special 3for5, so got a selection of pastrami, honey roasted ham and roast beef and a pack of German salami for Chuck Wagons sandwiches.

Only item which had completely disappeared from the shop's shelves today? NO EGGS... All gone...so just one item not off our first 2024 list 😂!

Up early to MD's office for fasting labs, then home for spoil-myself-rotten breakfast =)

Ran baking soda/white vinegar in kitchen drain this AM... sorted beans for bean soup tomorrow... load of towels done... lunch/YouTube videos...
Tackled the grease/grunge/yuck spot on the carport (long story; not my vehicle), first with de-greaser and stiff bristle brush.. hmmm, barely touched it. Next professional strength Dawn (dish soap) and Bar Keepers Friend made into a paste... more scrubbing then took a dollar-store scraper (paint section; there's an official word for it but I can't be bothered to think of it, lol) to the goop.... Uhhh, *slight* improvement. Hosed off and let it be as my back was complaining

Headed to Ed's for a visit. TTFN

We are expecting our first snowstorm tomorrow (late Sat. night) lasting all through Sunday. My grands are coming tomorrow (Sat) 4-5pm from an hour away in MA. (Same storm up there) I am baking my Mideastern style chicken thighs now, making my Basmati rice; can just heat up tomorrow w/ frozen veg.

Will also make my hummus b' tahini tonight BTW, didja know Hummus translates literally as "chickpea" in Arabic?

I am worried the storm may begin earlier than tomorrow night, so I am going call DGS and ask them to come earlier in the day.

Here's a bummer; I bought all the stuff for that eggnog cake posted in Food/Recipes by @1DomesticGoddess , even vanilla! You all know I can't bake, and just realized that my ONE adequate mixing bowl had slipped and broke about a month ago. *sigh*. Maybe I can use a large pot. That is IF I can find my once-used Bundt pan.

It's cold but sunny with blue skies. Hard to believe a snowstorm is on it's way, but we've been lied to before!

I was in town today, and as I was going into a shop a young woman was coming out.
As she was passing me, one of the four bags she was carrying burst at a corner and items spilled out.
I called after her and when she returned I was picking up her items, which she took off me and put them into the other bags.
The last item I handed her was a packet of condoms and I couldn't resist saying, "Pretty girl, you don't have to drop such blatant hints like that to me, a wink and a crook of your finger would have been enough." 😊

"baking soda/white vinegar in kitchen drain this AM."

Good grief, I have to do this!

Since I now have a dishwasher, I find since I'm not running as much water and not pulsing the garbage disposal as much (I'm doing more dish scraping) The dang sink drain smells! Tomorrow, I will give it the treatment.

Finally back from tedious doc appointments. Derma doc took a bit for a biopsy. results in a couple of days. Cardo doc said to keep doing whatever I'm doing. Healthy as a horse (mostly), see him again in a year. Yay. Relieved that he didn't insist on a bunch of tests. Fine. All that's left now is to make an appointment with the ophthalmologist to see about cataract surgery.

It's cold here, and we're supposed to get rain of biblical proportions tonight and tomorrow morning, then sunny, cold, but no rain again until Tuesday when it's supposed to start up again with a vengeance.

Happy to report that the squirrels haven't figured out a way to get into the birdseed...

I didn't get a nap between work and going to the docs so it'll be early bedtime for me tonight🛌.

Today was laundry day. I'm proud of myself for putting all the clothes away. Most of them went on hangers, so that made it easier and less tedious. I balanced another checkbook, one of the ones I hardly use, but the other was a challenge. I don't keep up with them as diligently as my main accounts because they were opened for convenience (closer location with cheaper SD box & free ATMs globally). I messed up one of the pages because transactions were out of order, a mistake was made with a balance making me have to cross out a few totals beneath it. Seeing that bothers me due to my OCD so I took that page out (luckily it was the bottom half) and will do it over. Tomorrow is another day. 🙄

I dusted in the bedroom, talked with my BFF on the phone, slept, played games and watched T.V.

Oh I really wish I hadn't read this... I've been so hungry for one of those and now I'll have to go get one. :giggle: My day... well, I did those "before the storm" errands yesterday, so today we're just sitting at home waiting for tomorrow's storm. Hoping with all fingers and toes crossed that it will somehow blow over this area. 🤞🤞
The Philly cheese steak sandwich was pretty good 😊. Did you get one? Sometimes we need to live it up!😊

Waiting this am for THC delivery at 40% off price for New Year sale. That should last me a very long time. Want to New Year's tip the delivery guy, a great, wise funny dude from Jamaica. Very competent operation they run.

Then, I will go out and buy enough food to last for awhile. That's not a lot, as I barely eat, but I must buy bananas, have a craving for them, although they sure taste different than they did years ago, or am I losing my taste buds? A bit of both, I think.

Then I will hope for SNOW so my grandson can go sledding with his parents and they can build a snow person together. Snow person. Haha, I'm woke!
Wish I could get a THC delivery. Life seems so gloomy and mundane with the Winter sinking it's claws in.

Finally I am getting up to speed and start appreciating the modern world. The kids gave me an old iPhone that I used so far only for family chatter. But now they showed me a feature that I absolutely love:

When my wife says she goes to the bank but is gone all day, then I started worrying where she is, especially after dark. But now I can check *live* where she is shopping, where she is driving, etc. I can trace wherever she is. No more worrying. Wow, I love this modern technology. I even managed to take a picture of this laptop screen with the iPhone and send it to the family.

You can't teach an old dog new tricks, but humans are not dogs !!!

It's ok, Ruthie, you have Suzy and a bird I think. As long as power stays on, you're snug as a bug.. Make some hot cereal and enjoy the storm.
Thank you. The bird passed away in September. Suzy is still here thank God. Her medicine is helping her still. I don't have any hot cereal although I love it. I'm going to make dinner shortly and doggie and I will cuddle up and watch a movie.

How are you and your doggie doing tonight?

I wonder if we will see any of that storm here.
