Fishing for Cats
Took a skinny cane, put in under the couch, and after a few swipes, got a boatload of cat toys, including six mice, 8 blue plastic cat playthings; 4 pens, a full bottle of very old insulin and various other items. I didn't put them there! Also found a vape pen filled with really good stuff that became invisible after only one use and has been driving me bonkers as to what could have happened to it! Could have used that last night, maybe wouldn't have been so Bored! Also found cat toys belonging to prior cats, including one huge neon pink rat (too big to be a mouse!). I can't leave anything out, I hide all the remotes every night.

@Pepper What? No money under the couch or in the couch cushions?

Dinner was delicious. I even forced myself to eat some collard greens because those are eaten on New Year's Day to bring money in the new year. I like money. I like the nice green color, the nice green feel and the nice green way it looks in my EF :giggle:

When DD and I were in Walmart this morning, the shelves were well stocked for Valentine's Day and St. Patrick's Day. There wasn't any Easter stuff out yet. I mean...Easter is only three months away.

You reminded me of when we were kids and we would check down the back of the settee cushions for coins. :D

I never get excited about a new year. Should I for some reason? They all seem the same to me until - they don't. I try to take life a day at a time. Today was good for a start so that's auspicious. I feel good. Not quite as good as groovy, but good. :giggle:

Now that the house paint is finished, I had time for some little projects. Tilled the garden spot so I can put my tomato's in the ground, pulled the carburetor off my generator and cleaned it so it's good to go again, and finally... finished installing a secondary fan in the inner fender of Big Red to help pull some of the under hood heat from the big block out. All in all... not a bad day. :)

My plans for 24 are to fish and shoot more while my health allows me to, some days i need a push in the rear to get on the lake in freezing temps I admit. Shooting nope I just go.
Yea....that cold weather is not for me, especially on the lake. There is always a day ths that is good for shooting, though!

135th Annual Rose Parade in Pasadena -- a few last pictures taken off the TV right now
Much street dancing, singing, bands, and whatever you can imagine
After the Ringling Brothers Circus motto, this is the greatest show on earth (or something like that)
I believe the parade route is about 5 1/2 miles long, mostly on the Colorado Boulevard
Afterwards, the floats can be viewed close-up for three days (it used to be free, but now they want an entrance fee)

I admit, if you hadn't posted these pictures, I would have completely missed the Rose Parade. Thank you!

I would love to see some pics of your new house!

135th Annual Rose Parade in Pasadena which is one of the many cities in the Los Angeles basin between the mountains and the ocean.
Tournament of Roses AND Rose Parade floats - Wikipedia

How to watch the Rose Parade live:
Watch the 2024 Rose Parade streaming live OR https://www.youtube.com/@tournamentsofroses
Each of the 40-50 floats is covered by perhaps 18,000 flowers and cost an estimated half million dollars. My family has been watching them live on <KTLA> TV every year. As teenagers, my children even helped decorating some floats.

The Parade starts on New Years Day at 8:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time (Greenwich Mean Time minus 8 hours)

"Tournament of Roses Parade floats are flower-covered parade floats, used in the annual New Year's Day Tournament of Roses Parade held in Pasadena, California. They evolved from flower-decorated horse carriages with the present day requirement that every inch of every float must be covered with flowers or other natural materials, such as leaves, seeds or bark." (Wikipedia) The Parade usually starts with a flyover of a "B2" US Air Force Stealth Bomber.

Below are some flowers from our garden taken on New Years Eve, the kind of flowers you might see on the floats:

Thank you for posting this Packleader; it serves as a reminder for me. I used to faithfully watch the Rose parade but the last time I was disappointed with the floats. I thought just a couple of days ago that I'll try watching it again, since I haven't seen one in a few years.

Re the OP today I:
~Finished putting the remaining items from last week’s shopping away after doing more rearranging so I had places to store them.
~Took a long nap again...during the daylight hours.
~Refilled 3 pill cases while chatting with my son.
~Posted in the groups I manage on Facebook.

It's raining quite heavily here, but we have to go shopping and replenish the larder. No plans for meals this week. DD is here until Friday and I keep asking what she would like for dinners, but she can't make up her mind. It's not as if we can just nip round the corner to buy things, so I have to know what to get at our fortnightly shop.
lol..well at this age she should know that she'll get what you cook if she doesn't make her mind up quickly..

Well... there's something new... (sarcasm).... its raining heavily... ... it hasn't actually stopped in 3 days... Anyone whose been to the south of England for the first time since the beginning of December will be convinced that old story about it always raining in the Uk, is true.

I have never in my life seen as much rain as we've had here in the past month . There's big toadstools growing in my garden...

Everyone's returned to work.. except the schools

On the edge of The New Forest, just north of Ringwood and about twelve miles south of Salisbury, is the attractive small town of Fordingbrige. It's seven arch bridge is medieval, constructed in 1385. Properties in Fordingbridge command high prices, but residents who have purchased riverside homes because of their picturesque appearance are now living with the reality of riverside proximity.

Morning folks....so sorry some are going thru this flood
business, we have some doozies here, but not a my current

big storms around to areas that actually need the water...ah well, what do I know !? 28deg F here this morn, going to 45F later on...too early for plans and on first cuppa, so catch u

This morning, doctor appointment; then arrange AccessARide for tomorrow to see my grandson, who is back in school. I will try to keep as busy as possible. I will try to stand and move as much as I can remember to do. Haven't walked backwards in a while, I knew I'd forget!

It's cold here today, only in the thirties.

Today would have been my sister's 79th BD. I have been in touch with my niece for the last hour. See folks, what happens when we don't try, when we won't forgive? Haven't seen my sister in 20 years. Didn't know she had Alzheimer's for the last 10 years. Now she's DEAD.
I tried, I tried so hard for so long. My BIL was no help. My niece is the only one who I deem to be innocent. She was 16, now 36. Sad, I'm very sad on today, my sister's birthday.

I woke up to a very chilly 21°F/-6°C. 😨 Burrrrrr!!!

I'm glad we cleaned out the hen house last Sunday. Now "The Girls" have a lot of fresh, fluffy grass to keep warm in!

emoticon
Even though my knee doesn't like being cold, I'm still going to the gym today.

Afterwards, I'm going to get a few things from Wal-Mart. Vision Express is just across the parking lot.....maybe I'll order my new glasses while I'm there. 👓
