Today completed the first draft of all the HTML coding mentioned herein a few days ago on page 241. Tomorrow will review and tweak it, then on Thursday upload what looks to be 221 files at this point. Glad that is over.

Also today at Kaiser Permanente had a monthly blood test and my blood levels for which I daily take hydroxy urea is doing fine. Also since my CD matured, with a BofA phone call set up another 7 month fixed term. Glad one can actually collect reasonable savings interest again. To He!@ with all the predatory free money Wall Street types crying about high borrowing interest rates.

There is something in the sky, looks vaguely familiar but, I just can't remember what it is! Oh yes! It's called the sun ⛅

Think I will be going out today, I want to pick up some bits and pieces and it will be nice to have a walk around without dodging the rain :)

Actually, the miserable weather has been very useful as we got a lot of stuff done at home but, it's time to venture out into the world and have some fun. Have a great day everyone :)

14 June- Flag Day

Flag Day is celebrated throughout the United States, with patriotic displays, parades, ceremonies, and educational activities. It serves as a time to honor the American flag, reflect on its symbolism, and express national pride and unity.
I need to get my red/white/blue solar lights strung again.

I think this time I'll leave them up but shut them off after the weekend. Then they'll be in place for the 4th of July.

Remember big celebration around Flag Day in elementary school. All of us, so many children of immigrants celebrating being American united under one flag. I will ask if my grandson's school is celebrating. I hope they are. This is what we need.......from the many, one. One despite disagreements. One, one America. Maybe I'm dreaming. If so, don't wake me up.

Today I travel to York on Day 1 of a three day solo trip. Overnight in York then on to Bempton Cliffs on the East coast near Bridlington. The UKs only land based Gannet colony, with Gannets, Puffins and lots of other seabirds to photograph. Overnight in Bridlington then up to Pickering for a ride on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, then home late.

In 1984 my daughter was a little under a year old. It was late evening and we were watching "Dallas" so I know it was a Friday night. Anyway, DH & I were on the couch and she was playing on the floor between us. Completely unprovoked, our dog bolted over to her and bit her on the face. Just missed her eye, but left a nasty wound on her cheek.

I called my GP of 15 years standing (he was also my OB and pediatrician). His service had him call right back. He told me to not bring her to the ER because the legal paperwork for a dog bite was a nightmare, but to come to his house and gave me directions. He laid her out on their pool table and with the assistance of his wife (a nurse) stitched her up right there and then. No bill, no waiting, no drama.
Was she scared of dogs after that? I was bit on the face by my parents' dog when he we was stung by a bee. I was 2 years old and even though I do not remember this happening, I was scared of dogs my whole life. I still am but not as bad as I was when I was younger.

I can honestly say I never have. But I grew up poor and all but homeless at times.

I guess it bothers me to see people wring their hands over the plight of the poor while others worship infantilized slave animals to an obscene degree. Buying decent grades of beef as dog food strikes me as obscene.

But maybe that's just my problem.
Your description may be a bit over the top but I see what you mean in some pet owners. I guess that's my problem too.

The boy dog has a small batch of fresh warm beef jerky treats (no salt, seasoning, marinade)

Here's one I'd started breaking down into the yard waste container. A little wilted, been cut down a couple hours. Also a closeup of the leaves:

Gosh, that is very woody, for a volunteer intruder.
If left for just some short time, out of necessity by someone, it would be even more difficult for many people to cut, or to remove the new ones! The roots probably have runners?

Edited: never mind, it was an out-going pkg, my son was returning something he ordered that arrived damaged lol

I shall now retire and keep my mouth shut haha
😄😆🤣 Sorry to re-post this, dear Cinnamon, 😉
But I was about to post asking you for an update on the mysterious package delivered to you....🤔🫤😯😵😵‍💫🤨🧐

When I saw that you'd already added an update, to your original post. OH! I thought. Mystery solved! 😉🙃😁😂😄😊

(
Sorry, again, for re-posting.🥰☺️😇)

After it happened, we isolated the dog and I called a trainer the following Monday. He listened to the incident's details and gently said Del had to be put down because there was no scenario under which I could be assured Del wouldn't ever again be in a situation where a small child was nearby. He said that she just couldn't be trusted and the next time could end worse than a couple of stitches.

We'd done everything the books advised when DD was born, including blankets from her crib in the dog's bed, paying plenty of attention to the dog, etc. The attack was completely unprovoked while DD was playing quietly, and that sealed the dog's fate.

DD was too young to remember the incident and had no fear of dogs due to it.. When I think about her birthday and the date of the Dallas episode, which happened to be the season ender, so probably May, she would have been about 9 months old.

Not too long after the incident a big, fluffy, wonderfully gentle golden retriever runaway happened to be sitting at our gate. We had him for a few years - the kids loved him, but he was a runner whenever he spotted an opening.

One day, he got out when DD was about 4 and my twin sons two years old. I left them in the house and started chasing him down the street. I stopped and thought, "AM I CRAZY? What am I doing? Let the dog run."
He eventually came back but I told DH I wasn't ever chasing him down again. He agreed.

After a while he escaped again and I let him go. A few weeks later we saw him being walked by a man in his early 60s-ish. The kids said, "Mom, there's Duke!!! Tell that man he's our dog."

I stopped the car and we watched them for a minute. I said, "Look how happy they are. Duke's tail is wagging, and he and his new owner are getting some exercise. Let's let them be." Not long after that we got another dog from the pound. Fortunately, she wasn't a runner!

DH & I both grew up with dogs and continued the tradition. We've nearly always had one or two dogs, same with our kids. The dogs all get along well with each other.

Auntie passed away during the night, just slipped away. She is at peace now.
The cruelty of dementia brings so many conflicting emotions when loved ones pass. When my mom died, I mourned the woman she'd been for nearly her entire life, but was relieved for her and all who loved her that she'd been released from the the terrible confusion of dementia and the personal indignities that accompany it.

May your family find peace in her passing and remember her for who she was in earlier years.

Quite aggressive.

If left alone in the lawn they spring up to about a foot high within a mere two weeks, in a month easily over 2 feet high. I presume a good deal of "strength" gets pumped out through the network of runners from unmolested giants often some distance away. The biggest I took down was a very woody 2 1/2 inches in diameter at ground level and about 12 feet tall.

In some parts of the lawn they want to pop up fairly densely, maybe two feet apart. Chop them back and soon they arise once again, even from a "bare twig" left standing after cutting off the green part, within a hedge or something.

Until they get over an inch in diameter the wood will splinter and delaminate if you bend them 90 degrees. Larger and the wood coheres more strongly. Large straight "trees" can be cut and cured as poles of 6 to 10 feet in length but the wood is of poor quality for any real use.

Still no identification accomplished. Perhaps an invasive species recently introduced accidentally?

Morning happens every day. Every. Single. Day. It happened again today, just like clockwork.

Time for me to gather my wits and go make 🥐🥐.

@hollydolly How about pictures of pubs with thatched roofs? Any around you?
no...not where I live with thatched roofs.. in fact there's hardly any old pubs left anywhere.. most have shut down post covid... those which have remained open have become Gastropubs...

However I do have a few in my portfolio... I'll see what I can find...
