I haven't been posting much of late. My daughter went through an exhausting two months of tests to diagnose several lumps in her breasts that were initially thought to be cancerous. She underwent surgery last week (lumpectomies) and is now recovering. The masses that were removed were benign (so many thanks to God) but she is considering a double mastectomy with reconstruction because the doctors feel that this will be a recurring issue in her breasts. It's not a decision she needs to make for a while so she is taking the time now to heal and then will celebrate by taking a wonderful two week vacation with her husband and children.

My mother did this after cancer in one breast. My doctor wanted me to do this too when I was in my 40s. I put it off and am now in my 70s. Doesn’t mean that I’m home free. It’s a big decision.

Leftover pizza was "dinner" around 3ish. Now it's ice cream🍨 for bedtime snack. Bedtime. 6:30.

Weathernerds say it'll be 75 when I go to work at 4 and 80 when I leave at 9. Remember last winter when I was whining about the cold weather? I told y'all to remind me when I complained about the heat in summer. Thank all that is holy for A/C.
 
I had been feeling very stressed about the cruise I reserved for late August, but I finally just signed up for the excursions only based on the little descriptions instead of continuing to stress about researching each Greek island and independent excursions.

Then I was so happy with myself having gotten that burden off, that I contacted the airline and changed my flight to one day earlier so that I will have time to see a little of Athens without freaking out about making it to the ship on time.

But then I had to choose a hotel to stay at for the night before the cruise. And after that I had to contact the travel insurance people and have them modify the trip start date and cost.

It used up pretty much all of my day but I feel much happier. Plus I ordered a robot cat off Amazon that had a 10% discount, which I hope my cat will see as a companion when I'm away on my trip (I'm sure he'll hide from whoever I find to feed him each day).
 
I have spent the last 2 hours printing out CC statements and bank statements ... for you know what..


next door are having a party, they're so noisy they don't care that it's past 2am.. they're all out in the garden ...on the opposite side of them is my long time neighbour who is almost 90 years old...

they are the only tenants in the road..that house is the only one that's owned by someone who doesn't and has never lived here.. a buy to let Landlord..... and the tenants are the only ones that do this, have parties until the early hours of the morning without quietening the noise down after midnight ...lucky me lives next door to them

@Georgiagranny I have so much admiration for your work ethic and enthusiasm for life. I'd be happy to have half of your energy when I'm in my 80s.

Edit: Well those early plans were short lived. Won't go to the Chase Center event because there is a much better larger 2-day weekend street festival happening, The 70th Anniversary North Beach Festival that had previously not posted their music lineup or schedule that I managed to just find on another link for that is much more interesting. And from there later in the afternoon, it is an easy 8 block walk to that Rolling Stones tribute band outdoor venue. So yeah...Am About to ROCK

So cool how you find all of these music events and festivals to attend and your enthusiasm for them. Nothing even remotely close to that in my corner of the world.

Last night I’d finally had it and knocked on the patio glass door signaling for him to move, which he did. Guess he didn’t take the hint because he was back, but earlier tonight. I’ve interacted with this young man before and he seems like a nice boy.

Tonight I decided to speak with him about it. I found him standing on the steps across from our two buildings with his friend. Here’s how the conversation went:
Me: Are you Tony’s son? (I knew he was)
Him: Yes.
Me: Come here Baby…let me talk to you. (yes. he is a child under me and that “Baby” is a grandmotherly thing that softens ’em up).
First of all, those railings are not strong enough to be sat on or even leaned against. Secondly, it gets quiet in my house early because my son goes to bed early since he has to get up so early. You know my son, right? Tall......
Him: (after thinking a few seconds) Yes Ma’am.

Me: I can hear everything you say when you’re by my patio, so if you're talking about things you don't want people to hear, you definitely shouldn't be by the patio.
Him: Ohh..I apologize!
Me: Your dad and my son grew up here playing together. Your father has been nothing but respectful to me and I suspect you are the same way..
Him: Yes Ma’am. I am.
Me: Is there any reason you don’t sit on the benches in the courtyard? Seems like they’d be more comfortable. (There are picnic type tables with benches out there).
Him: I should have thought of that. Again, I apologize.
Me (smiling): I accept you apology. Have a nice weekend.
Him (smiling) You do the same.

It's 3.35am...I've just been downstairs to the kitchen which faces out to the back and even with all double glazing windows and back door closed..I can still hear next door out in their garden. It's beyond belief really because there's 3 children under 12 in there as well .. and visiting children too
 
I woke up at 3 a.m. and got the garbage ready for my son to take out when he left for work at 3:30. We have trash cans in the bedroom, bathroom and studio. In addition to emptying those, I always scoop the litter box again just before the garbage is to go out. I played a few games of Words With Friends before the sun rose. It amazes me how many of my opponents are also up in the middle of the night, though I don't know the time zones for most of them.

Starting around 10:30, I slept on and off for the entire day and didn't fully wake up until 9 p.m. So nothing I had planned to do got done. I watched T.V. fed Deja and fixed a cheese sandwich for lunch in between the long naps. For dinner, I just ate the last portion of Michael Angelo's eggplant parm, which I heated in he microwave. I took my nightly medications while eating.

I will be at my desk working all day today. I went shopping and out to dinner yesterday with my older daughter, who is pregnant for the first time, with twins, and is here for a surprise visit. I dropped nearly $400 on baby items for her and barely scratched the surface of what they will need. 😄 Now I need to work, work, work.

Thank you so much KSay❣️ Although most of the young people don't use Ma'am anymore, I'm blessed to know several polite, nice, helpful ones. Perhaps one of his grandmother's required him to call her that. I knew his paternal grandmother who lived in the apartment he and his father currently occupy. She died a couple of years ago.

Shopping for baby clothes and items is so fun. If they throw a baby shower and your daughter has a registry, which many do these days, guaranteed they will get most of what they will need. You will absolutely love being a grandmother! It's one of my favorite things to be. Best of blessings to your growing family. 😊 And....

Just as they are going to bed, no, make that half an hour after they have gone to bed, play them some classical music, at full volume. You can start their concert with Strauss' then just as that's finished give them both barrels with Offenbach. If that leaves them begging for more then Robert Schumann's Sonata number 2 will ensure they don't get any sleep.
 
Happy Sunday, Invisipeeps. Here we are again. It's gonna be hotter than yesterday. It was so hot that even the squirrels weren't out frolicking in the garden.

And it'll be so cold in the bakery that I'll have to step inside the oven from time to time to stay warm. What's wrong with this picture?

Today is Father's Day so we're having a big BBQ lunch around 1 before DSIL has to go to work.

so it is a scorcher today....got some laundry for today and a
grocery order later maybe....hands are bad today, but it
