@Georgia Granny,,Have you heard or saw a Mock Orange bush?

We had on we where I grew up.
My grandfather would fuss with in the Spring.

The blooms smelled like oranges .

Once we got this house redone, I stared to get plants to be similar to what we had at home.
One was Mock Orange bushes.
The nursery send 2 ,,, guess I needed 2 so they would grow?

I planted them apart around the yard.

As luck would have it the second one didn't grow .

I babied the other one, it got tall & branched out a lot.
I would get a few flowers on it.

Last year hubby unloaded wood ships near it for me.

NEAR! What ,,, they were in the center of IT!
I tried to get them out fearing they might smother it.

Lesson learned the bush liked the wood chips & had more flowers this year!

I should have taken a picture.
We had a mock orange when I was a kid. You could see it and smell it from my (and my sister's) bedroom window. It was taller than the porch roof below and full of blossoms. Thanks for the reminder.

My DGAF is reaching the point of no return. I fell down the rabbit hole of replies when I asked Google a simple question about Kroger, and now I'm so demoralized and disgusted that I I feel "sick" enough to be a no-show tomorrow.

Gotta wonder how a new hire can get past a 90-day probationary period without coming close to learning/doing the job and having multiple absences as well. How? Well...start by having a g'mother as the store's HR person.

If I can make myself go to work, I may wear my "Sorry for my bluntness" shirt. I'll know I'm wearing it, but they won't because my required company shirt will cover it.

Ah, sh!t. We all know that I'll go to work. Personal integrity and all that. I probably need an intervention.

Most of the pictures from my woodland & lakes walk today are in the photo section now for anyone wants to have a look...

here's a little few from that...

Your area is so charming and you take such beautiful pictures.

@hollydolly Wonder where that gate leads? Or is that just the end of a fence?
No that's a gate leading further into the woods...or out of them depending on which direction you first start. I walk through that gate lots of times, at the end of my walk.. it leads into a little more woodland, a small bridge over the stream then into the paddocks..

this is immediately the other side of the gate... straight on to the paddocks..or take a right into more woodland

Picked blueberries after misspelling a mess of words on SF.
Must not have been as awake as I thought I was?

Felt like a pound of blueberries,,never weighted them as hubby asked for a blueberry pie.

Waiting for it to cool enough to try it.

I couldn't remember what recipe I used,, settled on the one I thought I used last year.

Pie tasting time !!

Some parks and rec areas here have outhouses or porta potties. It’s ok for bears to utilize the woods; kinda disgusting when people do.
yes well I have never in all the years I've lived here seen any evidence of human chit in the woods... but it is nature.. and so people doubtless pee in the long grass.. . I never have thus far..

However the woodland here behind my house is larger than a 2 hour walk.. to complete the whole park/field area.. and the woods would take probably 3-4 hours.. equally.. there are some shorter routes.. so for example when my back was really painful but I needed to exercise regularly I would just walk into the park/field area , up to the first lake and round that and back again.. about 30 minutes and not touch the actual forest... and thats what dog walkers do most of the time..

there is nothing there..it's a completely natural area where animals graze, and all sorts of wildlife live. There was some talk a while back of adding a little drinks kiosk in the car park, but I don't know if they've done that because as I walk over to it , I don't go near the car park so I don't know if they have...

What a wonderful story this is, about the mock orange plant that you remember as a child, and your attempt with 2 of them, and the surprising success with the present one!
Thanks for sharing that enjoyable tale.:geek:

I fell asleep before I could post about yesterday. I had an appointment with one of my cardiologists. She follows blood pressure related ailments as well and I was told to see her rather than my PCP because I wanted to rule out having a TIA (mini stroke). I've been getting a somewhat tingling sensation and other odd feelings in my face. She gave me a few reasons that could be happening, told me what to do and said she's not concerned about me having a TIA due to one of the medications I'm taking. With the exception of my A1C she was thrilled with my bloodwork and very happy with my BP, EKG and heart sounds (no A-fib detected).

I took Ubers there and back. In order to see her as soon as I did, I had to go to her office a couple of towns away. An EKG was taken in the office and she scheduled me for a non nuclear stress test. I'm glad that I won't have to get stuck with a needle or go to the hospital to have it done. I will have the test done at her office that is closer to where I live.

Today I finally finished putting away items I bought from Dollar Tree last Saturday. I went to the supermarket this morning so had to put those groceries away. After work, my son picked up a few things from Walmart for me and I put those away too. I also rotated Deja's can food stock and refilled her dry cat food containers from the bulk packages.

That expression about ‘speaking of the devil’ happened twice today.

Oh my gosh. After writing this, a well-known podcaster just mentioned doing this on a hike in mountains where he lives. 😖

The second one isn’t so bad.

Last night I was telling DH that the Macarena was being used for exercise classes. I haven’t heard of that in years.

Turned on the tv today and there were people doing the Macarena. It was totally unrelated to exercises.

Friday again! I hope everyone has had a good week. We have had fantastic weather this week, it has been like being on holiday; relaxing, cool drinks and summer clothes (at last!). These are the days when it feels especially good to not be working; stuck indoors watching everyone else enjoy the sun! I know for some people that this hot weather is not good but, for me so far, it's been fine and I am loving it and hope it will stay like this for a while.

Meeting up with friends later so, if you are strolling by, we will be the rowdy crowd sitting outside the pub as if we have nothing better to do (which obviously we don't). My apologies for my noisy friends ;)

Good morning, Invisipeeps. It's a lovely (but hot) day in the neighborhood again.

See if you can guess where I didn't go this morning, personal integrity be damned. I texted Sir last night and said I was sick and wouldn't be there. I was. Sick of being dependable, sick of being the go-to person to pick up the slack for others, sick of being counted on to accomplish the impossible.

I guess what has really ticked me off this week is that I was scheduled for four hours each shift, but was still expected to get the same amount of work done. Because, yanno, "Gramma can do it." Today, at least, Sir can do it. He's working alone.

The rule is that we have to call at least an hour before a shift starts. As it happened, I woke up at 3, so called and told the manager on duty that I was sick. If I thought for a second that I could get away with it, I'd be sick again tomorrow, but that might be pushing my luck.

Gardening to do before it gets too hot. I've already set the sprinkler to water the flowers.

.
I have been very busy this morning…mowed the front lawn, weeded, deadheaded, watered, looked up train times for next week, ordered and printed my match tickets for Cheltenham.Cricket.
Now I’m baking some bacon( as they do in Greggs),putting it in rolls, have cheesecake for Dessert and I’m opening a can of Cloudy cider.
Feet up this afternoon!

On my early walk this morning at 6:40 temp was 60 with a slight breeze, it was refreshing
This morning, I'll be walking 3 blocks back to my old apt building, drop off papers/magazines to my friend Mary.I give her NYT Mon- Thurs, last Sun's edition of local paper.{ she doesn't buy the paper} I give her 3 magazines I subscribe to: People, Sat Evening Post,Yankee. I still have my fob/keys to get into the building,my apt, also drop off to office secretary July's monthly statement. This will be the 1st time been back since I moved out last month Yesterday, Patrick called to say 3 people had looked at my apt but no takers yet.I knew this would happen, its a waiting game now

Gloomy but dry and starting out cool today. Once the dew is gone it'll be time to wrap up lawn work begun yesterday to get ahead of the rain returning this evening. Misc. chores: prescription pickup, rotate cupboard stock, laundry, bill paying, etc. Basic "maintenance" day. Yawn.
