Taking my lady friend to see her cardiologist this morning, then taking her to the Mall. One of my least favorite things, but i'll do my best to "grin and bear it"...
Well, like they say, "If you wanna make God laugh, tell him your plans"...

My lady friend told the cardiologist that she was having pains in her right arm. So, we were told to take her to the emergency room at once, which we did. They kept her overnight, at about midnight they did an MRI on her brain, and they are testing for evidence of a stroke. She seems okay to me, but what do I know? I visited her for a couple of hours this morning, not sure if she will be released today or not.

Right so I've just spent an hour and half in the back garden, trimming hedges both high and low... At one point the low trimmer got a branch stuck in it's teeth, and for the life of me I couldn't get it out with pliers, so I took a screwdriver, and hammered it , and at one point I missed the head of the driver, and hammered my arthritic knuckles..😩..

..anyway I got it fixed, and then got up on the ladders to finish off the tops of the 7 feet hedge , and the battery ran out. Just waiting now for it to recharge. I've done everything else, mowed and swept up.. just that one little bit of hedge to do..I've put all the tools away now except for the hedge trimmer ... very humid.. not much sun now ...

Came back in to find another email from Amazon ..this is now 7 about the same topic .. this time they've chosen an item from that same order.. but not the SPF that I complained about .. and they say that they cannot find any visible damage to the charging bank in your photo... I never took a photo of a charging bank.. much less send it to them complaining about it being defective. Then they have the nerve to ask me to rate them in Stars....

Whatever is happening to Amazon now, they used to be so efficient.

Bit of excitement for Mac as we had alive rat in a trap.
When all was done , Mac was bit upset that we took his rat out for burial.

Hubby decided to split some wood that got dropped off.
To work Mac's excess energy we took a walk,, didn't find any woodchucks or other critters.

I finally got the dead peony blooms cut of & some raking done in that flower bed.

Lots of tiny slugs in their shells.
I wonder if lime will chase them away?
Would like to sprinkle some flower seeds out there.

Its raining again.

Emailed with oldest son this morning.
He only gets the 4th off,, so he's not coming here or going on ATV vacation trips.:cry:

Went to Walmart and bought stuff.
2 floaty, cotton, sleeveless dresses. One deep turquoise, other pale pink, white, mini stripe.
a turquoise top and a white top.
3 cotton undershirts for sleeping
2 bras
Dove liquid hand and body wash
a larger ceramic plant pot for my elephant ears
potting soil

They had some really nice Monstera plants and also Palms. I really wanted them, but the Monstera just gets too big and too wide. I have no more room for the Palm.

Planning to have left over salmon for brunch, on whole wheat toast w/ cream cheese and red onion.

The A/C in my car died. Thankfully, our weather is cooler now.

Ruby Jeep and Candy White send Saturday greetings

Caught my 21yr old, Ruby Jeep, standing in the driveway this morning. Noticed her top had sun damage. There were splotches of paint fading, degradation and loss. So I dug out spray paint from the shed in the sanctuary ... it was closer than the stores in town ... and painted the top of Ruby Jeep. Didn't turn out quite as well as I'd have liked, but Ruby isn't used to wearing makeup. AND it was less expensive than a professional makeup artist might have charged. Her Volkswagen sister, Candy, is doing fine. I don't mind being seen in public with Ruby. Maybe it's a guy thing.

Not a bad job at all...(y)

I am very cautious, usually am wearing N95 masks, never had Covid, and just scheduled my 8th Covid shot since January 2021.

We have had over a dozen dogs; but for the last 10-plus years, I have settled with Boxers.

My wife bought me this Boxer coffee cup ..................................My older daughter gave me a Boxer bath towel. "Opa" is German for "Grandpa"

I love going hiking with my Boxer pups -- in the distance are the San Bernardino Mountains in Southern California

My younger daughter made this for me 6 years ago; now I have only 3 dogs, but still 4 when my grandson's Beagle is included

Hi all! Update - 12 year old DGS is FINALLY feeling better. Hallelujah!!! 2-1/2 weeks and 4 different courses of antibiotics later. The 3 days in a row of injections did the trick on that stubborn double ear infection.

DH & I came home yesterday after 5 glorious days RV camping in San Diego. Heavenly weather there: 75-ish high and 65-ish low, every day. Here? The forecast shows highs in the 90s, lows in the 60s, daytime humidity in the 20s-30s, for at least the next two weeks.

Could be worse - those manageable low temps let me bring in enough cool overnight air to minimize AC needs during nighttime and throughout the next day. The pool is a yummy 89° - perfect for early morning swims.

Oh, so glad to hear that! What a terrible time for him and all of you.
Happy to hear there's a light at the end of the tunnel. .🏵

can you believe this... this is the reply I got back from Amazon....

Hello,

I'm sorry to hear your Piz Buin Tan and Protect Tan Accelerating Oil Spray SPF 30 High, 150ml arrived damaged.

However, the photo you provided is invalid. No visible damaged on the item.

Since this item is classified as nonreturnable, we require photo evidence of the item's condition before we issue a refund or create a replacement order.

I was furious now..spitting bricks.. I said that in the first email... how could they tell a nozzle was jammed from a photo..?.. so I grabbed the phone and demanded to speak to a customer service person in in real time... so they connected me to a woman in India, who has refunded my money....but what the heck is all that about ?

I had to take photos, write a note, send emails, speak to a bot and a customer service person.. then have to speak to someone in India.. for a £6 Defective item.

I told CS I ill never buy another spray nozzle item from Amazon because of this nonsense.
We always go straight to the phone call first. No problem so far. The garden flag I bought DH was not like the picture so they told us to order our other choice and not to return the first.
We had trouble finding the Amazon customer service number on my kindle at first. It was under the main settings icon. Not anywhere in Amazon.

In post #6915, a couple pages back, I mentioned a lightning bolt that touched down quite close to our property line & house. The rest of that day was pretty weird. All sorts of things went wrong for me trying to upgrade an electrical circuit in the workshop here. For DW two liter-size canning jars cracked as she went through a cherry canning process she's done every year for decades... it's not often at all that even one cracks. Then yesterday, we drove to town and ran errands and met friends at a café, and we got home about seven hours later. Couldn't put my finger on it, but I felt less than my normal self.

Today has gone well. I finished the job in the workshop, and that went smoothly. Managed to get the new bear fencing planned and supplies/equipment ordered.

I'm not sure what the logic is (if any), but I'm tentatively suspecting the lightning, being so close, affected us... or warped reality in some way.😲

Made me think of this video I watched yesterday, wherein a mama deer stomped warnings of a nearby bear ...

Wow. Very interesting to watch. Thanks, naturally. We have both animals, and they do wander around our, and our neighbors', properties. But I've never observed the deer (mostly white-tails) and a bear in proximity to each other.

Major accomplishment today was working on two songs in the studio. We're both happy with the two of them but a couple of more minor tweaks may be done. When we're done, my son emails me the songs then I listen to them on several devices and with earbuds before determining if I want anything else to be done. We are coming down the homestretch with completing the album.

I watched TV and napped, of course. I found Jesse Stone: Lost in Paradise on the Roku channel and finished watching the entire movie today. That's a rarity for me. But it was in the "leaving soon" section that didn't give a date. Lost in Paradise was the 9th and last of the franchise and the only one I haven't seen. I bought a 2 DVD set of 8 films a few years ago.

It's the local 'vintage vehicle' rally today. Not the best weather, but hopefully it will improve. I don't bother with the rally even though it's only a 2 minute stroll away. It's the same every year and I think it's more a get together for the owners rather than a show for the visitors. Most towns have similar rallies with the same vehicles, so if you've seen one you've seen them all.

Later in the year there is another show in a nearby town. It's one of Scotland's largest - over two days. It is part agricultural show and part general entertainment with show jumping, motorcycle stunt riding, music etc..
