How much of an interest rate cut do you expect?
I'm beginning to expect a 0.25% Fed cut in September, another 0.50% cut soon after, and another 0.25% cut in December.

I doubt those will have a huge impact on borrowing interest rates. Savings and CDs will probably drop by more (proportionately). 12 month CDs might easily drop to 3.0% or less by December, 36 month CDs down to maybe 2.0% interest.

But I don't have a crystal ball.

could be..is that what it's like in Michigan now ?... here except for today which is windy and rainy... we're still very in the middle of a hot summer
We've been getting down into the 40s and low 50s F at night. Daytime highs have ranged from 65 F to 72 F but today jumped to 77 F.

I'm sure we have a warm stretch coming yet. We're probably already moving into a week ahead in the 80s.

Lovely day, 74F and mostly sunny.
Grand daughter - in- law drove down from MA ( an hour drive!) with baby Darius to visit me and then my grandson's mother here in the same town.

Darius was wonderful, smiled all the time, laughed and chortled. My dog loves him, didn't want to leave his side. She works 3 nights a week; 12 hour shifts and today is one of her days off. She came at 11 am, we ate watermelon, fed Darius and then found out Eric's mother could not be available for the visit. Typical. I was going to go along too, but hadn't said anything.... good thing.

So, R. (grand daughter in law) had noticed a tag sale (yard sale) just up the road and we decided to visit. I haven't been to one in probably 10 years. We had to stop at the ATM to get cash.

It was fun, no one else was there yet. Older couple, Margo and Bud. They had a lot of stuff, I asked what inspired their sale, Margo said she saw the show Hoarders for the first time! They were so funny and so nice. We enjoyed visiting with them. Margo and Bud have 5 great grandchildren. Margo went nuts over the baby and kissed him. He beamed at her.

Everything we bought was $2.00. The bigger items they had, (lawn furniture) were $5.00.

R. bought a lawn sprinkler and a largish framed canvas painting of a landscape. It was really nice and beautifully framed.

I bought a pair of binoculars, a straw brimmed hat w/ a black ribbon, a pinkish-coral pouffe twin-sized comforter for my love seat, and one of those horse-shoe shaped neck pillows.

They had a nice white wicker rocking chair..... only $5.00! Wouldn't fit in the car, tho'. I had so much fun!
R. and Darius left a little before 2pm.

It was a great day for me. Hope you all are doing well.

Sitting outside, enjoying the mild temps and low humidity

There’s a lot of heavy equipment activity behind the houses across the street. Their yards back onto a wooded area. There used to be a railroad spur that ran behind there but it’s been unused, overgrown, and the rails messed up for years. So I’m not sure what all the heavy machinery is doing. Idk if they plan to repair/reopen it or make a “green trail” through there. That possibility was discussed many years ago but nothing came of it.

It will be interesting to see what unfolds

how you feeling today CS ?.. a little bit more human, hopefully !🥰

There's a bond there, good or bad. I'm sorry for your loss. 💐
well she hasn't died yet...I hope.... but thanks anyway. yes of course we had a bond up until we were adults.. not friends really, but sisters who jogged along , despite her nastiness.. however since she moved to the other side of the country. she's visited here twice ( 30 years) and even on both of those occasions she caused upset.... and I've never visited her...

I saw it as a welcome relief to be that far apart...

..however she is my little sister, and I know she's on her own now, so I don't want her to think nobody cares, and that if she needs any help I will be there to give it...if she wants it..

Oh my gosh, no, she's not gone yet. I guess when you said she knows she's dying I had death in my head. I'm sorry. 😒

I had a sister I hadn't seen in 30 years. She developed a heroin addiction, her husband left her and moved to California. Soon after she took her two kids to California, the other side of the country. She was pretty much estranged for most of that time and her daughter wrote to my Mom here and there with news.
Slowly she communicated, she lived and worked at an apple orchard, had a longtime boyfriend, had a grandson.
She developed breast cancer and became more in touch with our family. Towards the end one of my other sisters paid for her and her grandson to fly east. They came and most of the siblings visited with her. She was very ill and she knew the cancer was back.
They went back to California and her life and she died shortly after with her longtime companion and daughter's family with her. I'm glad I saw her even though she broke my parent's hearts.
In the end, it's family.

I'm in a bad mood today. I had an appointment for a medical procedure for 11:30 this morning so wasn't allowed anything to eat or drink for several hours before-hand which is usual. However, I'm one of those people who if I go too long without eating or drinking water, I get headaches, the shakes, muscle pain, anxiety, etc., but I tried to soldier on and put up with it.

Welp. I sat in the surgery center from 11:30 this morning until 2:00 when they finally rolled me in to the operating room. So it had been 19 hours since I'd eaten or had even water to drink so I was so miserable I was shaking. When the surgeon came running in, he said, "Sorry! Sorry! I lost track of time!" But I overhead 1 of the nurses say to another, "He forgot about her and went to lunch." And I know I heard right since I had for once remembered to wear my hearing aids.

After I came to and Huzz picked me up to take me home, I told him, "I don't think I'm ever going back there or to that doctor!" But! He's the only well-regarded doctor in this field within a 200 mile radius. Sometimes I hate it here.

Thanks for listening to my rant.

@hollydolly Those fellows that cut your trees down were really hard workers. You could ask them if they want to deviate from that type of work and help empty your attic. It might only take them a couple of hours.
Nice thought, but they are Tree surgeons and they told me they work 6 days a week..I doubt they'd want to empty a loft on their day off...

There are loft clearance companies I can use..

My wife has 3 chickens, and I have 3 dogs. Is it human nature to feel the need to take care of, and to be responsible for something?

Left: My wife loves the beautiful Hibiscus flowers in her flower garden.
Right: I planted many fruit trees, but most of them died. The Mission Fig Tree is one of those that survived without needing any care

On my morning walk with the 3 pups, Mother Nature always cheers me up.

For a while, I watched busy bees gathering their breakfast on a cactus flower. The red are the leaves of Bougainvillea

Sunrise is the best time of the day for walking. Coming home, it was still only 68 degrees, but by 3 p.m. it will be again 100

Crepe Myrtle are over their prime bloom, but Palos Verdes are just starting to bloom and will soon be yellow all over

Your early morning pic reminded me of seeing those mountains off in the distance, hidden in a bit of haze as the morning air warmed when I lived in LA back in the 70's. To me it was always a unique and special sight. That and watching the sunrise while driving in the desert east of the LA area will always be special memories for me :)
