Sorry for your struggles holllydolly, been there also....today i
accomplished a few little naggy chores that I've put off, got
this desktop area cleaned up well sorta, washed and put away
my summertime blanket from the bed, and hooked up the new lectric blanky so it's easy to use, dishes done, yes i put them off...
and planning on sausage gravy & biscuits for supper yahooo....

After breakfast, I strolled to local Walgreens 8 blocks, took me 25 min
I didn't have an appt, but was able to get both flu &Covid-19 shots. I bought a couple of items, took the bus home I iced my right shoulder ,plan to take an Aleve before I go to bed
This afternoon read NYT,my book, tonight tackle the daily crossword puzzle, find something to watch on TV

We'll probably get some rain out of the last gasp of the hurricane in a few days, but we've had a dry September anyway so I suppose we can use it.

I haven't been dwelling on any of this, so the dream I had last night is hard to explain. Rain stopped, I had gone outside and there were many trees down or even smaller trees uprooted and tangled into larger ones or against the house. Enough trees down that I remember how big a change in the skyline there was. One of the last things I remember is the power to the house ripped loose and the ends of the cables lashing round on the ground making big sparks and actinic flashes.

@ Holly,,is there a chance that you soon the 2b X got into your computer?
And it sounds like the first repair person could be a friend of "2bX"?
No.. no chance he got near my computer he hasn't been here for 18 months.. and no the computer guy was just a Knob.. he didn't even ask who I was so he couldn't have known my husband..plus there's no chance my soon2bex.. would be friends with a twat like that...he was really obnoxious

he was talking to me like I was his kid..like he was really giving me a telling off after showing me the way it was done and I had deliberately done it wrong.. even tho' he'd never met me or even seen my computer.. ..

@holly,, thought perhaps your X was like my son, he can access my PC from his.
Son had set my computer up .

As to that bloke of a repair man,, wouldn't give him any recommendations.
No he can't access my computer from where he is.....but you're right I'm going to give this first computer repair guy the worst review he's ever had..

Have you ever started doing one thing and wound up doing 5 other things? That's what happened today. I was making space to put a bulk box of PopCorners away and wound up...
~ Reorganizing part of the storage closet
~ Adding items to my Space Bag of clothes to be cleaned using the Dryel system
~ Readying my box of food items for my son to take to the timeshare. He's going the weeknd after next and I’ll go down that Monday. He'll take my stuff so I don't have to carry them on the bus.
~ Reviewing & updating items in our fireproof safe box. I took a look at my will to see what revisions need to be made.
~ I also practiced Fur Elise on the piano. I want to surprise my son and play it for him. He joked that he feels his life has been a lie because he didn't know until after we went to the Classical music concert last month that I enjoy that genre and have played Classical pieces on the piano. He always heard other types of music in this house while growing up. 🎵🎶

I had a long busy day, having been up since about 2:00 a.m. so after I ate “Linner” around 3:45, I fell asleep in my recliner, where I almost always eat, with the plate in my lap! My son removed it for me and I kept sleeping.
😴😂

@hollydolly, this was in a tech newsletter I get.

“Major macOS warning: Apple’s latest macOS Sequoia update is breaking big-time cybersecurity tools from Microsoft, SentinelOne, CrowdStrike and others. Some people also claim Firefox stopped working for them after the upgrade. Pro tip: Wait a few weeks before installing a new OS, and always have a backup.”

Maybe this is part of your problems. Not that waiting to update is an option for you now.

thanks for that Jules ..fortunately I haven't downloaded Sequoia .. because the problems currently with this Mac won't allow me.. so that's one good thing to come out of it..*phew*

I'm not being flip, holly, but have you turned off and unplugged anything that can be unplugged, including power, and let it sit for at least an hour?

yes done all of that. I am not ignorant..not that I'm suggesting you're saying I am.. but I do know my way around the computer having watched my Soon2Bex in the past who was very Technically minded and who always sorted it when it went wrong, .. so I do know what to do initially... and aside from that I've watched Youtube videos, to try and help with stuff I don't know about, but nothing is helping.. I've managed to do a few things to keep it running for now.. but it's still a very sick machine... :(

Today my plans are to reorganize my office and then do my volunteering at a church downtown. They provide lunch plus things like socks, toiletries and thrift-store clothing.

In the afternoon I'll either swim or play golf. It's gray and rainy here so golf might not be an option. Daughter coming over tonight to watch Giants-Cowboys on Thursday Night Football.

Good morning. It's not quite 8am yet, and I'm bored already.

The big storm is still just a warning. Excuse me if I don't believe it's going to happen like they tell us it will. We're being told it will hit the metro area as a category 1 hurricane. The timeline keeps being pushed out so that now the big wind that's going to go along with the rain is not supposed to not happen until tomorrow morning. Meh.

Those dishes that needed to be washed yesterday? Um. They're still in the sink. Shame on me.

we've had floods in many places in the UK.. since we had a month's rain in one day a few days ago, and its forecast to rain again today. This is why i'm so often grateful I live on top of a hill... it had it's disadvantages at times, but with floods it's a god send..

On my early walk at 6:30 went to buy BuffaloNews at a convient store, a block away ,temp was 66,cloudy. I also bought a copy for another resident, Connie who no longer subscribes to the paper.,She's a member of the 'Welcome Committee',was the 1st resident to invite me to dinner a couple days after I moved in, we hit off from day 1,very fond of her. She has lived here since 2017 when Canterbury Woods- Gates opened
The rest of my day do some paperwork, read NYT,weather permitting take afternoon walk
I called to make my dinner reservation in the dining room for 5:30,never know who I'll be sitting with

I know you know. 🙂 I also know computers can be so frustrating. Hang in there!

Started out this horribly cloudy day -- Hate this, five days in a row so far -- with my meditative S.A.D. lamp and do feel better from it. Glad I have it.

Like @Georgiagranny, my dishes are calling from the sink 'Please Wash Me!'
why is it so dark in NY that you have to have a SAD lamp in September.?

My o/h suffers from SAD..especially as he works in a TV studio where there is now idnows at all... so at home he always had a Sad Lamp in winter.. even tho' his desk here in the house was /is right next to a window.. but only in deepst winter..

We made a Walmart run so we're well-stocked. Was it just Tuesday when we went to Aldi? Sheesh. WM was very quiet, maybe because it was early? Or maybe because people believe the forecast is just another cry-wolf story. Now they've thrown the possibility of tornados into the mix and that a category 1 hurricane could turn into a category 2 hurricane. I'm leaning toward the cry-wolf idea.

The meatball soup was a hit. It's almost all gone. Refried bean soup is in the crockpot for supper tonight. If we lose power once the storm really gets underway, I dunno what we'll eat tomorrow.

Time to get the usual tidying up done. It got bypassed in the rush to get to WM early.

Oh...yesterday's dishes have been washed. I know y'all will breathe a sigh of relief ;)

GG...I hope the storms do not cause serious damage and power outages in yours and other areas in its path. Stay safe and check in when you can to let us know how ya'll made out.
