The leaves in my yard are starting to turn and its overcast. Very fall like.
When a tragedy like Helene occurs, especially so close to home, I am especially grateful I'm in my home, safe.
I'm going to check on my friend today. I'm almost afraid to. Her house was flooded, driveway and roads washed out. No power, maybe no water. She did answer a text early on when phone was charged.
Anyway, trying not to dwell but......😒

I'm conducting a phone interview at 9 AM today on a fellow member of Windjammers, Unlimited (an organization that seeks to preserve, promote, and enjoy circus music). He's an incredible tubist and a composer and it will be a challenge to try and capture his dry, subtle wit in written form.

Kelly Bennette will have the Member Spotlight shine on him for an upcoming issue of the Circus Fanfare publication. It will be my honor to write the article.
Finished my 1,300 word draft yesterday; Kelly is now reviewing it and will make a few corrections. I do not record phone interviews and rely on note-taking to capture key points, but there are inevitably some things I don't catch.

Today, it's yard work. Ugh. I've never been a fan of yard work. But I might be able to get away with just running the mower around.

Your son may love experiencing your mothers things. Leave them or ask him to take them now and go through them then do as he sees best with them. Maybe look with him.
How tragic your mother was killed! I'm sorry.
Be calm Pepper. Take it as it comes. Good news you didn't fall.
Enjoy the Young and the Restless but be The Aged and the Rested.
Discussed with son yesterday. It's my job. I am the one to deal with it, she was my mother after all. He basically told me to be brave & suck it up. I will be leaving behind so much of my own junk, can't put that on him too.

Since the suitcase hasn't been open in almost 20 years, and contained clothes she wore, her smell is intact. It was a shock, I admit. The motel owner packed her things and had them sent to me in Massachusetts where I was living & I just brought them with me to NYC and only went through it once, maybe twice, for her wallet, jewelry, etc. Brings it all back. I loved her & miss her so much. She was such a chatterbox that my world has been silent since she left.

Thanks (((hearlady))). Hope Cable Guy comes sooner than later.

Please be careful going to your friend, @hearlady . I'm sorry for everyone in the area hit by that dreadful storm. Bless you for giving her a visit.

We are fixing our outside window in the mud room/stove room. It had a broken pane of glass. We are fixing all the panes with new putty and we'll repaint it when finished. It is taking some time and work to get this done. Maybe about 6 hours so far...maybe 8 hours left. Then we are going to put 2 new thresholds in our outside main doors. Then we are going to put new guttering around the house. Looks like there will be plenty of exercise for the nice fall weather. It IS fun working outside in the fall. :)

oooh I hope your friend is ok , HR.. what a horrible situation this has been for everyone whose been affected...

I'm no chef by any means, but why would meatball glue/filler require leavening?

I suppose flour makes sense, perhaps in some cases a little fat (though... with sausage???) and it makes sense to use a little egg I imagine. But in this case the baking powder just comes along for the ride since it was already in the box, right?

It's kind of confusing me too I have to admit....

No egg.

It's time for me to start my winterizing jobs with the patio and water faucets. I've had a big breakfast this morning....bacon, eggs and biscuits....that should get me through the outside winterizing chores I need to do.
Now you've put me in the mood for Bacon and eggs....don't fancy having a biscuit with it tho'...can't imagine a kit-kat looking great on the plate..lol.

Yo! @Mizmo The new recipe I tried for scones? Blech. They're edible, but that's about the best I can say for them. The reviews were all sooo good. They must have all been by Americans who never ate one before.
Ah too bad....I never did like Bisquick much. Now the packet I have is lying on the counter..
I think I will just pass along to local food bank wiith couple other packages I found.
. My neighbour cooks for them,.
I will ask her what she does with the Bisquick

It's going to be another beautiful fall day! Dio wants to take our little boat out for a ride (no launch ramp required)! I'm planning on bringing my fishing pole. As my Dad used to say: I'm going to wash some worms!

Weather forecast for the day seems pretty decent, if a little cooler than a few weeks ago. My plan is to tackle some more things in the gardens and around the place. For one thing, spread some straw over the rototiller soil on the big garden, which will start to rot after snow rains & snow come, and will then thaw in spring... then I'll rototill it in for increasing humus.

My night to cook tonight, so have to decide just what.

PiZZa!! :)

Bisquick has its uses, but scones isn't one of them for sure.

My manicure is a pain in the como se llama. I did them on Sunday, and they looked great. By Monday the polish was wearing off already, and they're too long so that it makes typing on this keyboard difficult and on my phone the next thing to impossible. Guess I should stick to shorter nails with just a clear coat.

DD took me to the store to get milk, but there won't be anything else today. Her deadline is midnight. In between now and then, she also has to take DGD to a doc appointment and move a mattress for DGD's BF, who's moving from his parents' house to a place of his own. It's gonna be a tight squeeze for DD to get her work done by midnight. One hour of tape = three hours of transcription.

Tomorrow she works at her away-from-home job in the morning so the next possible outing for me is maybe tomorrow afternoon. Cue fervent prayer 🙏 that the garden centers can stay in business without me until then ;)

@Trila Have fun washing worms🪱 :ROFLMAO:
