Today was head into the kitchen and dismantle and remove the second broken over head microwave (stole it out of the motorhome to replace the first one) and replace it with a stainless hood/vent along with a stainless back splash. Dug out the old trusty counter top microwave (20 years and still works fine) and set it on top of a mini freezer.
Came out ok I think. :)

New stove, too?

5pm and the time of day when I start getting agitated and wish the clock would tick faster so I can go to bed. For some reason it's a really lonely time of day for me. I only get like this in winter. Summertime I can sit outside and fiddle around in the garden.
I need sunshine and blue skies, no humidity, outdoor time, as much as humanly possible for my mental and physical health.
One reason I live in Tucson, AZ; I can sit outside 345 days a year; sunshine every day.

Looks really good! The stainless backsplash is NICE. I prefer a stainless backsplash, and that one looks good with the new stove.

I like that there is NO microwave over the stove now. I think a microwave over the stove is a pain when one is cooking and the other wants to heat a cup of coffee or tea up.

Nice job! Am sure Santa will approve!

I had a stain less backsplash and SO wrapped it around the cabinet sides as well plus more. Hello Windex and ease on the house c!eaner. I miss it!

Went to brunch this morning for my weekly green corn and chilis tamales - just LOVE those.
DH had the same thing he eats half the time at home...he could have lots of GOOD stuff at this place, but nope, same same.

Guess I don't have to worry much about him getting tired of me, huh? LOLOL

Then a trip to the commissary for "little" odds and ends, not a major grocery run..we rarely do those any more since I've pretty much stopped cooking and baking. Managed to get $210.00 of groceries into 4 bags. I want to cry. It used to be $25.00/bag...now it is double!
Anyway, DH and I kind of have this "guess how much money do we have in the cart" before we check out game.
He bet: $125-150; I bet $180-190. Both of us were off by more than $20! Inflation - again.

@Georgiagranny, I hate that for you. Can you go into the big house with family, watch TV, doesn't need to be a big deal. Just would really help if you are having trouble in the evenings.

You could have come here. Son stopped buy to wrap his wife's' presents. Mom, do you have any wrapping paper? Yes. Mom, do you have any tape? Mom, YES, I have scissors.

Mom, the box is really big. How do I do it? So I explained that he would have to do it in two sections. Looks at me like I am an alien from the planet Scrooge. Alright I show him best I can and leave him to it.

Mom, how I do the corners? Good Heavens!! So, I go to help. I am proud to report we have a present wrapped in the most beautiful foil paper. The problem it looks like it was wrapped by two monkeys that chose to use their feet.

Oh well, it is wrapped!!

You use windex glass cleaner on stainless backsplash? Don't things stick to it, like spaghetti sauce, etc?
I've always used a coat of Pledge wood oil or lemon on cooking backsplash because then I can wipe spatters off easily, nothing ever sticks to the oil on the surface and it shines nicely.

Baby oil, used very sparingly is the best on stainless steel....

I finished putting away items we got from Costco last week, which entailed rotating some stock and labeling the boxes I stored the new items in. I cleaned the bathroom and kitchen (except the floors which I'll do tomorrow). I also watched a little bit of a couple of movies and took an afternoon nap.

Yesterday evening I set about cooking dinner . It was within 30 mins of being ready when there was a power cut. This didn't last long and I thought OK, but then there was another power cut. Fetched some candles and torches and then set about rescuing dinner. Fortunately the campervan lives behind the house and its batteries are charged and it has gas cooking. I finished cooking a rather cut back meal which we ate by candlelight and the wood burning stove in the lounge.

After about an hour, power was restored, but I'm getting fed up with this. It was the 3rd., and longest, power cut in the last month. Until now, power cuts have been rare.

No plans for today, but at least, the weather looks better.

If my micro hood ever goes (at least 20 yrs old) I would replace it with a fan. This micro hood has an exhaust fan but it is technically too close to the stove top. That's what happens when installed in an older home. It has been fine and saves space so as long as it lasts I will work with it. Plus, I'd miss the room. The original microwave space is now a coffee corner.
Nice job!

I can't tell you how many times, at five o'clock I'm wondering if it's too early for bed. I still get up so early even though I don't have to. I try to find something to do to keep me up until at the very earliest, eight.
