It's Christmas Eve!!! 🎄

We are spending it with family so, presents are wrapped and packed, shopping is done and coffee has been drank, next I need to get my Christmas glad rags packed. Tomorrow will be busy but fun (I hope!).

However you are spending Christmas this year, I hope you have a happy one x 🤶
...and a Merry Christmas to you to Trish ...hope you have a great time with family .. 🎄 🥂

Well it's a semi sunny day here...it was raining whenn I got up this morning, so I'm happy I turned the dehumidifier on in the barn last night . I have absolutely no plans to go out today.. I've been sorting through some storage bins, and deciding what to donate.. and what to keep... I really want to minimalise much more ....
The problem is that in essence I still have everything that was required for 2 people here.. and that means a whole barn full of tools.. as well.. so it's a huge undertaking to try and get that all sold or given away...everything is in good condition some of the tools and accessories have never even been opened..the estranged o/h bought so much... and then didn't take anything with him, not needing any of it in a luxury penthouse apartment that he bought when he left here

Maggiecat regressed. She only let me sleep until 6:30.

There are things to do today. Stuff to prepare for tomorrow's breakfast and dinner. Also need to wrap the mailbox that I got for DGS. Guess I should ask again if a time for dinner has been decided on.

Most importantly, I need to cash in my winning lottery ticket and buy one for tonight's drawing. Tonight's is almost a billion $$, and I need to figure out a way to limp along on about half that because taxes will eat it all up.

@hollydolly Don't give away those tools! Sell them and keep the $$. If necessary, get someone out to appraise them, then sell them for top dollar. Maybe you can sell the whole lot to one person and be done with it. But do sell.

yes I understand this.. but it sounds a lot easier said than done,... because for example... ther are big snap lidded boxes..with just spanners in... another with just saws in them.. another with all electrical items.. another with all plumbing goods in them... and as every man knows all sorts of vaious other items that can't be classified.

last summer my Dd had a look and took 3 brand new saws.. and a soldering set, a couple of hammers, some gardening tools and a box of brand new drill bits ... but what's there still is really quite overwhelming.. this is just one side of the barn.. the other side is just as full with gardening equipment and painting supplies ..

The palstic boxes under the bench are so heavy with tools ..I can't even lift them....

Hm. That's a lot of stuff! I bet an appraiser could put an eye on it and still give a value, though. Next problem would be getting rid of it. I dunno. Glad it's not something I'm faced with.

Think of it this way: If you eventually sell the house, you'll have to find a way to unload it all. Better sooner rather than in a rush after selling.

I didn't sleep well last night, but since I napping most of the afternoon and again in the evening, I'm feeling OK. My cough seems to be under control, so I'm mostly just trying to ignore my unhappy tummy. Soooo.....I'm having my coffee, listening Christmas music, and reading posts.

My plan for the day is to make a (basic) no fuss, cake to bring to Dinner tomorrow, and to watch Elf.

yep I'm aware.. it's constantly on my mind....further to that he has a load of very heavy stuff in the loft...like tile cutting machine, and car parts..

I can get a company to come and clear the loft... and doubtless I can get someone to clear the barn and the shed... but I don't want to give the stuff away or free.. it's all good quality stuff..

Do they have estate auctions over there, @hollydolly ? Auction companies will sometimes either have an onsite auction, or they come and get everything and take it to their warehouse where they hold auctions. Something like that would get rid of the things you want gone, and you would not have to hire anyone to move them, just the auction company.
They always get a commission, but you would get paid for everything they sell.

i have heard of them Yvonne, altho' only in the context of when they're selling a whole house and it's contents, usually after a death. I might need to look into that, thanksfor the idea...

Merry Christmas Eve, Hanukkah Eve, and Kwanzaa Eve-Eve!

I woke up at 5:30 AM and started to roll over to try to grab another 30-60 minutes but decided to forgo that extra sleep so I could spend some guilt-free time with you, dear SF friends. ❤️

We're expecting roughly 20 people this evening, so there's cooking, organizing and last minute cleaning ahead today. Higgins (Roomba) is scheduled to start working his magic in a few minutes. You've all heard me (and @Georgiagranny) moan about hating dusting - well contrary to my usual procrastinating nature, I dusted the entire house yesterday, so that's off my list! Yay!!! (Aren't you proud of me, GG?) Also, all presents (including grab-bags) are wrapped and I wrote out the checks for our kids and grands - and even wrote out the cards. Double Yay!!!

For tonight's dinner, I have only a dozen fancy dishes, so DD will bring some of hers. Two different types and patterns, but there's simply no way I'd be ok with serving Christmas Eve dinner on paper plates. Perish the thought! Also, my mother would come back to haunt me if she spied that transgression from up above. (On second thought, it would sure be nice to see her again... 🥰)

Happy news: DH has definitely turned the corner. Based on his symptoms, he had the flu rather than a cold, but a relatively light case, which we attribute to the vaccine we had a month or two ago.

So far, I've completely dodged it or have symptoms mild enough to not be noticeable. (The vaccine lowers the risk of gettng the flu by 40%-60%, and reduces the severity if you do get it.)

Higgins has started and my second cup of coffee is nearly empty, so it's time for me to get a jump on my to-do list. I'll be back when it's time for a break.

Happy day to all!!!

foggy and mild here, done a few jobs, then sat down with a drink, and watched Chicken Run on tv,bit of a boreing day.
Oh, I love Chicken Run! 🐓😂

Cleaned out my side of the pantry this AM

Braved the grocery store for last min essentials (wasn’t too bad)

Home now and going to eat lunch, make one last batch homemade granola and curl up with a cuppa tea and a Christmas movie

We got what we begged for but in typical Oklahoma fashion - several hours of toad strangler. Now it is grey and dreary out there.

I had a bad night with my banged up ribs acting up. Friday may be a trip to the doctor. Diagnosis will be 'don't do that'.

Slow day, some rummaging, some phone calls. Early dinner of surf 'n turf, peach cake and a Sunday wine. To quote Della "the good stuff".

@StarSong I'm gonna save dusting until after Christmas. No need to rush into it :ROFLMAO:

Cashed in my $8 ticket and bought one for tonight and one for Friday. It's up to a billion bucks now. There was a Power Ball ticket that somebody bought and changed their mind so I got that, too. I'm gonna be positively awash in money so am going to get it all changed into ones, put it in a big pile on the floor and sit in the middle of it, throwing it up in the air and letting it fall on me like confetti, a la Scrooge McDuck.

Everything except for boiling the eggs for deviled eggs has been done ahead. That'll get done in the morning while the monkey bread is baking. Everything else is in the fridge waiting to be baked tomorrow, too. Cheesecakes are thawing in the fridge, and DD has already been warned not to bring anything over to keep in my fridge because there's not one square inch of space left.

There were so many dishes to wash that my fingers got all pruny.

Yanno what I'm gonna do this afternoon? Nothing.

Doing nothing, my eye! Just spent the past hour trying to help DGD figure out how to save her apple pie.

Yanno...if she would start out by clearing the counter, assembling the ingredients and the equipment she needs... Darned kids! If she'd paid attention the first 300 times...

Anyway, it's done and might or might not be saved.

Son came by to pick up the gifts he had stashed here. This time I remembered to give him the eggnog I has picked up for him. Then I made a quick trip to the pharmacy, taking a lot of pain meds and antibiotics is not kind to the GI system.

Plan is to get in the kitchen and breakdown the meats I bought yesterday for the freezer. I guess I am a little skeptical, the butcher always offer, but I have heard stories where they would cut a chunk to keep for themselves from every customer. When paying for a full beef tenderloin or prime rib roast, I prefer to do it myself.

That said, a nice filet, some jumbo shrimp from the Texas bay, will be a fine dinner for Christmas and New Years. I am now in for the duration, I think! I will be making a special meal for the pups, chicken, green beans, carrots and pumpkin. They will have eggs for breakfast with kibble.

I wish all of you the best Christmas, for some that is full loud house of family. Playing in the snow, board games, card games, teen girls giving each other makeovers........For others of us, we will spend the day alone by choice, reflecting on a life well lived and visiting each of those who we have lost in our memories. Just remember, either is perfect, that is God's wish for you, to be happy and content! If anyone gets lonely, I will be here to talk.

Hope she did not use monkey feet. If so, she may need to start over. My kid is a better chef than present wrapper.

Hi gang!!! I'm sore but I'm here!!! Just been goofing off this
morning...Trying to sort out this streaming stuff...right now
watching a show about people who are in the last 24 hrs of
freedom before they rport to prison sentence....kinda interesting....Wishing all of you here a very Merry Christmas...!!!':giggle:(y)🎅🎄

Just peeked at the pie. It's saved.

Yanno...I just don't understand. Carpenters measure twice and cut once. Cooking is the same kind of thing. Read the recipe. After all the prep is done, read it again.

And for crying out loud! Use a rolling pin to roll out the pie crust. She was trying to spread it out with her fingers. What the what? Because "it's too much trouble to use the rolling pin."

Hey! Remember when I was so incensed back mid-November when I sent an early birthday/Christmas card via UPS to my brother and it got lost? Well...UPS had already reimbursed me for the loss, and this morning it was delivered! LOL I told him to keep it. UPS will probably debit my account for the reimbursement, but I don't care. He's thrilled to have an extra $100 the day before Christmas, and I'm thrilled that he does. It's one of those Christmas miracles... 🎅

@Georgiagranny, I buy Powerball tickets, too! :)

I had a work assignment due today, and now I am just going to be lazy. I saw my younger daughter yesterday for lunch, a Christmas movie, and gift exchange. I had hoped to go visit my older daughter and my two new grandbabies, but my car needs a repair, and they couldn't fit me in until January 9. Boo! But I am going to curl up with a good book and perhaps watch a movie. I also plan to make a new recipe (chicken spiedies), but right now I'm feeling too lazy to do that.

Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays, everyone!

Cookies are baked,, kitchen floor is swept.

Light rain is falling, chances it might get colder tonight.

I think hubby is worried that his sister might bake the turkey tonight.
She did that one year ,, full house & she wanted to go early church on Christmas morning.

Make us Not fans of reheated turkey!

So we are taking scalloped corn, ice cream & nutty sugar cookies.

Merry Christmas to everyone !
