I’m very neat and tidy. So is Ron.
That old adage “a place for everything, and everything in its place” is me to a T.
I hate clutter, so all surfaces are free of it. So are closets, cupboards and drawers. Open any of them and things will be organized and neat.
Neither Ron nor I are obsessive about cleaning and dusting, but we do like things clean, so we dust, mop, vacuum once a week or so.
I like to decorate, so the house has decorative touches that are uniquely Ron and me and make it pleasant to look at, warm and comfortable to be in. Plants, art on the walls, framed photos, interesting decorative touches, soft throw pillows, snuggly throws.
Because I organize for a living, I am frequently asked how I learned to be so organized. I didn’t. I was born that way. Disorganization is disturbing to me, in my own home. I’m unable to relax with disorder around me. I don’t notice or am bothered by others’ disorganization or untidiness, unless I’m being paid to fix it!
I mentioned in some other thread that on the weekends I’ll take a half hour or so and go through a closet or draw or cupboard, throwing away or putting in the goodwill pile things that have outgrown their usefulness, or moving what doesn’t belong there to its rightful place.
Sometimes I’ll tackle a larger project too, like re-arranging cupboards or drawers, doing a closet purge etc.
I like my home, like the way It feels when I walk in after a hard day, like how I can relax in it without being annoyed by mess or clutter. We have guests from time to time, and they say nice things about feeling comfortable, able to relax, the house having a welcoming vibe. That makes me feel good.
