I am an Atheist and always have been.

Einstein said that if you want answers you have to ask the right questions. You're beginning with the ultimate question. Maybe back up a little. There are a couple hundred questions to be answered first.
Oh believe me I have. Maybe not here, but at many a time in life since young even.

If one can't find a beginning though...

But yes, I've asked tons of other questions...

Still I believe. I choose to. That doesn't mean however, that I believe what is said or practiced in every religion of course. I also don't push my beliefs on anyone, whether about religion or anything else.

Christians are terrorists?

Some are, just like some Muslims are, and now we can say that some Jews are.

If what Israel has been doing for the past month isn't terrorism, nothing is. Their actions against Hamas and the associated collateral damage can be justified to some extent, but what they're doing in Iran, that's a little hard to justify.

I'm kind of surprised there aren't protests in Israel against Netanyahu. Maybe there are...

There have been protests in Israel...

The demonstrations in early April 2026 are primarily driven by opposition to the ongoing military campaign and government policies:
  • Opposition to the War with Iran: Protesters have been calling for an immediate end to the war, which is currently in its sixth week, urging for de-escalation and dialogue.
  • Replacement of the Government: Many demonstrators are demanding Netanyahu's resignation, accusing him of using the conflict for personal political gain.
  • Independent Inquiries: There are ongoing demands for a state commission of inquiry to investigate the government's handling of the events leading up to the October 7 attack.
  • Legislative Disputes: Protests have also targeted specific laws, such as the 2026 state budget and proposed exemptions from military service for ultra-Orthodox men.

I guess it depends on if you think we know the truth about anything and think the media knows or tells us the truth. Or what you go by.

I do know, as we all do, that some of these conflicts or issues have been going on for decades if not even longer, and Israel and Palestine would certainly be the best known one imo.

I don't do it much any longer but used to on history with some of the countries that always seem to be issues or made to be issues whatever way one looks at it. Ukraine and Russia. Iran. China. Israel and Palestine. North Korea. Iraq. Some in varying years but most are nothing new...

That's another subject though really.

I wouldn't say all relates to religion though.

The thing about this topic....to me at least, is the diversity of thoughts, ideas, beliefs and opinions. All well and good. All valid, most reasonable and some just sarcastic responses. All understood.
There are no answers here. There is no definitive explanation as to why we are here, who created us, or why we live our lives in a somewhat similar fashion. 10 commandments seem to hold sway in all our beliefs. Why?
Don't like your neighbor...shoot him and kill him. What's the big deal?? Yet we adhere to a code that says this is wrong. Where did the code come from? Why do we believe it? Why do we think, without reservation, that there is a right and wrong. Where did that come from?
Ponder those thoughts or not. Like a beautiful piece of jewelry or art, you were created by something or someone. Who created you?
You are precious to who, and why would they find you precious. Unless they believe like you do, which is what? So many questions. So few answers. Yet, for some of us....God is the answer. Don't know what God thinks about these things but know he does. Just thoughts from me. Don't need a response. Just talking.
all have a good evening

I don't think anyone can answer that question without getting political. Anyway, suffice to say it's water under the bridge.
Another way of expressing the same thought. Inspired by Daniel 5:5
The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ,
Moves on: nor all thy Piety nor Wit
Shall lure it back to cancel half a Line,
Nor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it.

-Omar Khayyam, translated by Edward FitzGerald
