I predict that in 20 years....

It's true, we don't, other than underground subways and a few that only serve one part of one city. But keep in mind how unimaginably big the US is.
True, the U.S. is huge! It's just a bit smaller than Europe, which is even huger! But they're able to have high-speed rail. That's because they're not terrified of SOCIALISM!!! And it takes government enterprise to build something like high-speed rail. The only thing we care about in the U.S. is profit, which is why all attempts at building high-speed rail have failed.

Offer your predictions about what is going to come-to-pass, in the not so distant future.

My prediction: that it will be possible to transfer one being's consciousness to another.
I hope Kurzweil was right when he predicted that we’ll ‘hit’ Singularity – the latest human invention, after which, at least this is what I think, we are just Gods (we, or just a chosen Elite ⁉️ ) -- no later than 2045.

Some good articles at Big Think and Wikipedia

I know this sounds strange, but I hope there will be a kind of voluntary euthanasia (voluntary being the operative word!) for those who run out of money and have no loved ones to help them and can't work, etc. Especially if Social Security goes away. I would rather die with dignity, comfort and painlessness with a compassionate health professional instead of starving to death on the street or having to try to kill myself somehow.

I will be dead for sure but living in my new life...
I will report to Seniors Forum in whatever format there is.
I will still be Mizmo or if I am male it will be Mistermo
Of course, depends on what state humanity is in by that time.
Perhaps we will have alien neighbours in which case I could be the cutest alien you ever saw.
Cheers

Building a high-speed rail in the US is ridiculously expensive. They had it all planned out for Folsom, CA to Stockton, CA (I think...somewhere down there) and the money was gone after they built a few passenger-loading stations in Folsom, which now has useless loading stations for no train.

The problem was, the greed couldn't wait until after the project was finished. Same thing happens when low-income housing is planned. In Calif, the billions are gone before a shovel touches dirt.

And that's the thing about Socialism; it's the perfect system for a perfect society. But for it to work, you need a perfect society first.

In the next 20 years, I believe babies will all be microchipped from birth.

The reason will be for safety, but ultimately it will be forced...then the Government will be able to track your every move from cradle to grave. I'm being serious.
Involuntary microchipping of babies has already been falsely claimed …

And NO it is not going to happen, now or in the next 20 years. Some sort of voluntary microchipping is of course always a possibility, but involuntary chipping of babies? No way in the current foreseeable future — one in which we still have a Constitution. I‘m being serious.

They've already been test driving them. So I anticipate the same.
well when I was 10 they were saying by the time I was an adult.. by the time we got into the year 2000 we'd all be flying around... and here I am 57 years later.. still waiting to hitch a lift through the clouds... :D

I see WalmartAmazon as dominating our lives, even more so than they do now.

We'll all be speaking Amazonian!
Well, at least they're a well run company. I'd be scared if it was Google or Microsoft controlling my life.

Amazon is now offering online healthcare. It won't be long before they'll provide housing and everything we need in life! I guess it couldn't be any worse than what we have now.

So you're saying that Europe has a perfect society?
