January 2020... Share your Day... Happy New Years Everyone...

Me too @moviequeen1 about the journal, I write it up almost every day, but not just of the top new stories.. also of personal events and daily activities.

it's amazing when I look back sometimes to diaries written just a couple of years ago,, and I find even in that short time there's thing I'd forgotten so I'm very pleased I've got it all written donw. Where do you keep all your diaries?.. I have mine well protected and stored in boxes in the attic.. I feel sad tho' that no-one will ever want them after I'm gone and my daughter may burn them, yet due to electronic blogging etc, I also feel that they'll be of historical value in decades to come..

Yesterday, we had a nice day in St. Augustine. The weather was perfect and the drive over was lovely.

I celebrated last night with a couple of bellinis and watching the ball drop. I didn't wake up the Spousal Equivalent at midnight as he had to leave early this morning for a long motorcycle ride with his club.

Another bellini this morning with breakfast (what a lush I'm turning into...….) and I'm watching "The Name of the Rose" while waiting for the Rose Parade to start.

It's 10 a.m. and I'm still in my gown. Paradise.

I slept late, gave my bird a bath and started to prep a few things early for a quiet dinner tonight with the hubby and my son.
I was making a big tossed salad to go with dinner. I reached for the dried cranraisins my hubby loves on his salad and it was all down hill from there.
I remember having the package in my hand the day before but for the life of me I couldn't remember where they were.
This kind of thing drives me crazy. Cabinets were ripped apart, hubby was called in to help. 5 minutes later he told me to forget about it, they will turn up and back he went to his recliner.
Forgetting about it wasn't an option.
We had dinner minus the cranraisins. I don't even know how I got the rest of the dinner on the table besides my son was having fun reminding me about it every 5 minutes.

The day before we had gone to my brother in laws house and exchanged our gifts. He loves all sorts of dried fruits and nuts so I gave him a big gift bag full of those goodies.

It dawned on me that I needed to put a ribbon and bow on the package and I did it in a hurry on the kitchen table.

I called my sister in law to see if there was a package of dried cranberries in the gift. Sure enough,in my haste, I had slipped them in his bag.

She found that hysterical, I was just relieved to find them. I hope this isn't any indication as to how the rest of the year is going to go. I thought I was losing my mind.

Holly, I use notebooks for the yearly journals.I have another notebook I write in but not every day.I do write in personal things I do with friends Sue

I don't keep a diary - never have. Occasionally I come across old notebooks and see sketches of things that I'd planned - or sometimes built.

Our daughter is here for the holidays and was fascinated by "Soapbox" races on TV.
She set about making a "soapbox racer" for Walter Minkie, one of her "Beenie baby" monkeys. I ended up having to make wooden wheels and axles for it. The vehicle is made from a cardboard and decorated with scales cut from foil...

It's strange... in a week she will be back at her job as a senior university lecturer, trying to explain the finer points of research methods to a class of post-graduate students. Today, she is our little girl playing with cardboard and glue to make the finest soapbox racer for a toy monkey!

My day has been very mixed and since New Years Day I can't find words to express my days since Christmas but all in all good that's the main thing

Nothing major happening here.

I just finished up my kitchen prep work for the next couple of days, tidied up the bathroom and kitchen.

Part of my KP duties this morning was making a small experimental batch of vegan tuna salad that swaps out the tuna for garbanzo beans, it looks and tastes promising!

It's part of my 2020 plan to move closer to a plant-based diet, we'll see.

I just learned that Barbara Walters is 90 and has dementia ...I can hardly believe that beautiful vibrant woman is 90 years old. I don't know her politics, or whether she was popular with American audiences , but she was one of the very few American interviewers we often would see on UK tv, interviewing well known names..

I had no idea she was so old or so ill.. I'm so sorry to hear this.. , bless her heart...

Cool here in Florida. Got down to 46 last night. Went up to Publix for a few groceries, ended up with $114 dollars worth. Wife sent for those copper bracelets and they came today. To please her I’m wearing mine, but I don’t think they do a darn thing for a person. What do you guys think?

This morning I packed away the Christmas decorations and weeded out a few things to send to the local thrift shop.

Stopped at the pharmacy and got part two of the shingles shot then on to Walmart and Aldi's for a few groceries.

Back home for some lunch and a nap!

It's hard to imagine how I ever found the time for a job.

I went to my doctor this morning to get my "release for surgery" for the retina surgery later this month. My ekg was acceptable and I'm fit to go.

Tonight we stood out in the driveway and enjoyed the sight of a rocket going up from Kennedy Space Center. The air must have been exceptionally clear tonight because there was an unusually long "tail" on the rocket. I never get tired of watching a launch.
