It's apparent that the executives at CMT became aware of the public's reaction, and so made the business decision to pull the song in order to avoid further revenue fallout.Jason Aldean’s music video for controversial song pulled by CMT... Overreaction?
Nope, it doesn't. I am soT.h.e. s.o.n.g. i.s.n.'t. a.b.o.u.t. r.a.c.e. ... so don't toss that card
The song has nothing to with race, color or even political views ...
I enjoyed David Allen Coe back in the 80s. I knew he was a bit eccentric, having been in and out of juvenile and adult correctional facilities in his formative years. Yea, he was racist and misogynistic, but that was in-style then. Some people are trying to bring racist and misogynistic back in style, it's time society moves on from that.
Oh thank you, @Pepper ! I love that song and I especially love your city.@CallMeKate "that doesn't mean I can't sing about loving New York."
True to the point.
Most of the riot clips were from Canada, the song was written by 4 men, the video was filmed in front of a Court house where a black man was lynched, the singer is not or never was from a small town.....trash...just more crap to divide.
The Streisand effect is an unintended consequence of attempts to hide, remove, or censor information, where the effort instead backfires by increasing awareness of that information.
Sure thing....many sites...easy to goggleCan you list the Canadian cities involved ? I'd like to read-up on them.
Near as i can find , the 'clips' were from the API, various other news outlets.
I believe that hanging was back in the mid-20's ... Maybe time to let it go ?
We should not let criminal activity on the part of a few people define an entire group.
I wasn't even going to mention this... but since you mentioned the abuse I will. A few days ago when I was hopping around the net so I'd be informed before replying to this thread... some (more than one or two) rap lyrics came up that left me numb. I'll try to skirt around the words because of censors/Google, but it should be pretty clear. When I saw this one in particular, I thought "WHERE'S THE OUTRAGE???"Funny, this one song about Americans standing up for what is right gets so much pushback, but RAP songs that describe abusing women, glamorizing drugs, hating America, gets a pass because of the race that is spewing them.
The violence is not new to me... but seeing a step by step very graphic blueplan of a r* pe and murder stood out because of this Aldean thing and not hearing an outrage on it. Excusing it as "expression" truly ticks me off because of the double standard.Kate you are right about the violent lyrics in rap music. I'm only surprised that this is new to you. It's been going on for decades.
I understand. The violence is not new to me... but seeing a step by step very graphic blueplan of a r* pe and murder stood out because of this Aldean thing and not hearing an outrage on it. Excusing it as "expression" truly ticks me off because of the double standard.
