A nice tribute!I can't hear this song without thinking of my dear friend Hunter's version. I love his covers better than by the original artists, but then again I'm biased.
I got to see him in person; he was amazing!I have always loved Sammy Davis, Jr. Anything by him is close to my heart.

I got to see them in person too, they were great!
Me too.I got to see him in person; he was amazing!
Never was into James Brown at all. Preferred Wilson Pickett.I'm not real big on pop music as a rule, but Wilson Pickett's voice gets my attention. Go ahead and tell me that James Brown wasn't influenced by Pickett. Maybe vice versa.
A strong, compelling voice.
I saw the Drifters sing this song at a doo wop concert. Before singing, the lead singer at the time, Johnny Moore told the audience, "Bing Crosby sang it for the white folks, and we sang it for the black folks." I'm sitting in the audience thinking, "But I'm a white folk, and I prefer your version a hell of a lot more!"
Did you know that Ketty Lester played in Blacula, a 1972 film? Small, but memorable part. Also, I just found out that Jerry Butler died in February. It irks me that the news will cover the deaths of obscure rock musicians but not Jazz artists and some notable R & B artists.
