I read a few threads, and you all sound very nice, and encouraging.

I'm interested to learn how members manage to deal with all the drawbacks and complications of ageing.

Independent and capable, then suddenly you realize that's all over, and you're not a free spirit any more. So many restrictions to abide by. Bucket list? Forget it!

Say it isn't so!!

Tons to be thankful for, maybe I'm just a miserable so&so!

Welcome Penny from London England:welcome: ...acccch you're never too old for this forum...c'mon in and join in the chattering...whereabouts in this big planet are you incidentally?

I penny. I saw your name as new member and at the time you were browsing "Introductions", I kept waiting there so I could pounce on welcoming you. Oh well, my time is cheap now a days. Welcome Penny. BTW Penny there is no necessity to tell your age here. We are all the kind boy scouts used to help cross the street. I am 78 going on 100.

Hi Penny! Most people think I'm definitely younger than I am.........thanks to a product called Just For Men Hair Coloring (mustache/temples). I'm actually 65, with quite a bit younger personality. My wife, who is a year and a half older than me, looks younger also. Again, thanks to Women's Hair Coloring and her personality.

Are you going to post your photos on the thread where so many of us have posted ours CR?

Hi Penny, there's quite an age range on the Forum and some of the younger seniors are still very much engaged in life. For some of us older seniors, I'm 80, coping with disabilities is something we do every day, but we draw some vitality from hearing about what the more active members are doing. So don't give up your bucket list just yet, you can still achieve some of your goals. . .well maybe vicariously.

Hi Penny, nice to have you join us!

Thanks everyone for your welcoming messages!

Well here goes!

I'm 79. will be 80 in July,still can't believe what happened!

Born in north-east England, came to Ontario, Canada in 1967, with husband and two daughters, aged five and ten months at the time, three years this summer since my husband passed away after long illness.

I'm fortunate that my daughters live quite close by and are very caring, but very busy, with a ton of responsibilities to deal with. I don't see them as much as I'd like but we text and keep in touch.

There's so much I'd wanted to do and experience, but I'm thinking now it's too late, too complicated and maybe risky, and the family wish I would just behave myself and not add to their problems!!

Sorry I've just rambled on, I would understand if I didn't get any response. I'm really trying to figure everything out and be positive. I have quite severe arthritis, rheumatoid and osteo, and have to take a lot of medications with a lot of side effects but I and I know I'm much for fortunate than most.

Thanks everyone for your kind welcome messages!

I've just typed out a long reply. it took me ages, I think I must have taken too much time, because poof!.....and it was gone!

It's too late now to remember everything I tried so hard to say. I didn't want to go overboard and bore everyone silly! Maybe I tried too hard!

I'll try again tomorrow!

Sorry!

Stop apologising Penny---You are doing great!!! Live your life as you wish, you have earned the right.

80 year old Lon and on this side of the grass.:D

Penny never be embarrassed we were all new here once and made mistakes and learned by them, and if there's anything you might have a problem doing on here just ask and someone will always come and help if they can .

Sorry to hear you're in such pain, many of us suffer too with various painful ailments so can empathise somewhat with you..and equally so many of us have children who lead ''busy lives' and we don't get as much contact with them as we'd like, that's what makes this forum great..you can chat on here about anything that's on your mind whether serious or lighthearted, you can get advice here from the many folks who have experienced life...whether it's how to deal with a dripping tap..to more personal issues .

We younger seniors are constantly learning from the elder seniors...a bit like an Amish community ..LOL>.. and the forum elders (as some-one said only the other day), pick up the energy of us younger ones at times, but most importantly regardless of age, location, background or current circumstances we all rub along together pretty fine...so please enjoy the forum, and welcome to it .. :D

Holly, you kids here still in your 50's are still middle-aged. ;) I think you've got to at least hit 6-0 to be a senior, maybe more.
