Many Women Will Never See Justice in This Lifetime

The government has done nothing of the sort; we still have control over our bodies. This is all a bunch of garbage. The voters in each state decide if abortion is allowed in the state. No freedom has been taken away from women at all.

Not even certain what this "we want justice" is all about. Women can chose their destiny. They just need to do it and stop up their whining.
soo.. I'm not up-to-date with this... how many states have banned abortion ?.. and what stops a woman driving into the next pro abortion state and having it done ?

That must have been a terrible experience for your mom. I've known several adults who spent some or all of their childhoods in "caring institutions" or dreadful foster care. The horror stories they related were heartbreaking.
My mother the same..but as my other's story is not to do with abortion I won't go into the reason why she was raised in an orphange by evil nuns ...

Google "Roe Supreme Court Decision".

I think what I personally want is an even playing field. Life itself is not equal….and therefore not fair. But if given the opportunity and you have what it takes you should be allowed to achieve what ever you can…with no limits set because of your sex or color. Justice does not exist as such. Even if you are “made whole” in the eyes of the world you can not get back time or opportunity.

Women living in the deep south may have to drive a long way to get to a legal abortion clinic. That means a hotel stay, travel costs, time off from work and other expenses that aren't easy for many families to manage.

Women in southern or eastern Texas or Louisiana, for instance (the southern state east of Texas that looks like an L), who need an abortion? Good luck. Their states and their adjacent states ban it outright. The next closest states (Florida, Georgia & South Carolina) ban abortions after six weeks. Many women don't even know they're pregnant until after six weeks.

right thanks for that Star, of course I forget sometimes how far the border can be between states.. because here our equivelents are just a short distance away, many towns are literally on the borders.. It makes it far more diffcult if the neighbouring states have banned it also

Only poor women won't be able to get an abortion.

Yes. Women of means can easily organize a trip to neighboring states, Canada, Mexico or even Europe. Poor women, not so much.

The hell of it: more mouths to feed on an already inadequate family budget means relying on federal, state and private charity benefits. Which the anti-abortion crowd typically strongly resent funding with their tax dollars.

The states will pay more if the child is born, and needs help surviving. A lot more. So the anti- abortion people must have religious, or beliefs that prohibit abortion. What are they, and why are they so popular?
It's not all religion. I don't see @dilettante as being religious. For some folks, it's about control, imposing their ideals on others, whether others like it or not, who cares?

Or self-control. There is too much promiscuity without responsibility. We need children and stable families, and we don't have that under current social practices.

I recently came across a poll indicating that a significant majority of the population supports abortion rights. However, despite initial assurances that Roe v. Wade was established law and would remain intact, our Supreme Court chose to overturn it. This action highlights a disconnection from the will of the people.

I do not support the use of abortion as a form of birth control, but I firmly believe that reasons such as 'I can't afford to raise a baby' or 'I don't want to raise a family' are entirely valid. I also fully endorse the use of the Plan B pill (often referred to as the morning-after pill) as a means of preventing pregnancy. Unfortunately, many Southern states are attempting to outlaw this option as well. It’s perplexing to see how our political system fluctuates so dramatically between extreme liberal and conservative views. A bit of compromise and common sense would serve us well. Do you believe the reasons listed in the chart above are reasonable?

The Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization decision didn't overturn Roe v. Wade per se; it simply turned the matter back to the state level.

Surely a woman's reason for seeking a termination should be a matter of privacy between herself and her doctor? Where would such information be recorded to be able to produce the statistics for this graph?

I regard this as a very misleading representation of women's decision to seek terminations. It implies that the majority of abortions are done on some whim of the mother.

I looked up Charlotte Lozier Institute and it would appear that it was set up primarily to reduce or eliminate abortions and ultimately outlaw abortion. In other words, the graph is deliberately deceptive.

]Many Women Will Never See Justice in This Lifetime

Given the reversal of support for women's reproductive health in America, then it may be incumbent upon women to demand of their male sexual partners to be responsible in what is clearly a joint transaction. A vasectomy is not traumatic or life threatening like an abortion, and is certainly safer than female birth control pills.
If we want to toss around words like "responsibility" then let both parties BE responsible.

I don't think I would be well cared for by a mother who wanted to abort me but was forced to give birth.
You would be wrong. The love of a mother for her child is not rational. It was once said by women who had more babies than they had wanted that "they bring their love with them".

That said, it may not apply to a woman or girl that had suffered rape. To raise the child of her abuser is probably too much of a stretch, even for the maternal instinct.

Thank you for your contribution to the thread.

Which vaccines? The one applied in Africa recently that produced many cases of polio?

This sure seems like a weird tangent.
I was unaware of the situation in African countries with respect to polio, so I did a bit of research. I found out that it is not a simple matter of "the vaccine caused polio" although it did play a part.

It is too complex for me to explain in my own words. This is what I read and it took several readings to absorb.
