Aaaaw. We don't have squirrels over here.

Warri, we have a small black squirrel, ( different from the large pale grey ones also native) which some of the condo owners here at the Tombs feed by hand. Nuts, sunflower seeds etc. So cute.

Meh - I had one of the little buggers bite my thumb when I was a kid.

I also used to feed squirrels in NYC's Central Park. But that was back in the '70's and they were '70's squirrels - with little bell-bottoms and psychedelic shirts left over from the '60's. They would pile on me while I sat on the bench, take the peanuts and have flash-backs.

It was weird ...

I did feed some squirrels in a park in Canada - Ottowa, I think - after resisting the urge to feed little mammals right through our travels in the USA.
We had been warned not to come close to wildlife because of rabies and plague fleas. Signs at the Grand Canyon really put the wind up us and we resisted all cute appealing looks until that park in Canada. I deliberately took a bag of peanuts with me and encourage the little creatures to come and enjoy a snack.
Not feeding them had been really, really hard to not do.
