Mini Skirt in the Past

It wasn’t meant as a sexist insult.
I think when older women go out with short skirts , fishnet stockings and extra colourful high heels, it looks desperate for attention and desperation is never an attractive look. Others may feel differently but they’re wrong. 😂 I’m only kidding. It’s just not anything I would wear at this age. If fact, I’ve never worn fishnet stockings. Was never a fan of them so I’m probably biased.
I agree, fishnet stockings have always had a rather sleazy connection in lots of minds. I remember going to ballet class when I was a little girl and over hearing the row of mothers whispering about our dance teacher the day she wore fish nets with her usual black leotard.

Fishnet stockings were famous for can can girls and prostitutes back in the day but they made a come back in goth wear and punk fashion. Many guys like them still for that bad girl reputation.

No! It’s not an attractive look. Then again, I’m not a guy. 🙄
She could come over at dinner time without a casserole. Assuming her brain matches the quality of her body.
FWIW, I have never been fixated on the 10s or even the 8s and 9s by Hollywood standards. A lady who takes care of herself, shows some pride in how she presents herself to the world, and carrie’s herself well is a 10 in my book.

the other day I saw a lady of similar age with orange hair, orang shoe laces, white pants and an orange stripped shirt. She looked ridiculous. All her taste was in her mouth.
I don’t understand the first paragraph or the second for that matter. Some people like the colour orange. It’s a bit loud but we don’t all have the same taste

People in So Cal aren't particularly uptight about what others choose to wear. It's a casual lifestyle and we see all manner of personal expression. Truth is, if we got our panties in a bunch every time we noticed a clothing, hair or makeup statement that was a little odd (on any age person), we wouldn't be able to walk straight.

Live and let live...

To be fair here, the question was asked if any of us wore mini skirt girls with a photo of young women with very short mini skirts.
When I expressed ‘my’ personal views , a picture was presented and I still gave my opinions.

I lived in Toronto for years and have seen everything under the sun. What others wear I don’t really care much about. It’s non of my business and I don’t ever make it mine.

Since the thread was still about whether we wear mini skirts and the photo had a picture of a woman wearing a short skirt with fish net stockings, I assume the O.P. wanted our opinions which is what I gave.

It’s not what I would wear and I stated the reason why. I don’t really care what others wear.

Maybe the miniskirt is making a comeback? :)

wasn't there a theory that said " in cold climates exposing lots of leg resulted in increased fat deposits to protect against cold weather " - that would seem to defeat the whole objective of the fashion??

By the time I was able to wear the mini skirt and hot pants they were going out of fashion. I loved the midi skirt, but best of all the maxi coat.
My favourite winter outfit was my maxi coat and Russian fur hat (not real fur) and black leather boots.
I thought mini was no longer in fashion.

Bottom line: if one is young or mature and has good, shapely legs then the short stuff looks good.... however and this is only my own personal opinion. If the thighs are heavy, don't wear them.

The maxi coat was so cool. I had some short mini skirts and some flowered bell bottom pants. Those were some very FuN fashions.

I always made a confusing connection between mini-skirts and the hippy days, probably because the skirts came in during the end of "love and peace" movement, but the skirts were more flashy and modern than the jeans, headbands, and Native American styles adopted by hippies. Maybe they were more of a reflection of the sexual revolution, a protest toward the sexual morality of the 50s. Or maybe it was just part of the social changes taking place during that period of my life.

Who designed the word censoring filter in the forum, anyway? Speak of the 50s! Bite each other's heads off, cast insults, and troll the forum with controversy, but for goodness sake, don's say "sexual."
