Seems no bounds exist when it comes to the abuse of the general public and their property. And come up with a creative reason to justify it:

Did you miss the part... "social media videos emerged of officers appearing to slash tires in parking lots amid the demonstrations"?Deflating a few tires in no way equates with destroying and burning vehicles. I don't even call this vandalizing, merely mischief.
And that should serve as just a warm-up.Letters of demand for cost of towing and 4 new tyres should be served on the Police Commissioner? Class action?
My sentiment to a T!How immature.
Hope you don't mind, but I'm riding your coattails today, Judy, because you say it better than I ever could! No wonder there are so many problems. Police are juvenile delinquents.
And, the police would be thugs had they fully destroyed the vehicles. I resent that remark since I was once a cop.No wonder there are so many problems. Police are juvenile delinquents.
Did you miss the words, appear to? Social medias are not accurate as we so sadly learn.Did you miss the part... "social media videos emerged of officers appearing to slash tires in parking lots amid the demonstrations"?
The article goes on to further mention... "photos and videos were posted showing the damage done to tires. Jeff Wagner, a local reporter who was covering the protests, shared pictures of cars with deflated tires in a Kmart parking lot, and Andrew Kimmel, a video producer, said all four tires on his rental car were slashed, too".
There's a BIG difference in deflating a vehicles tires vs SLASHING them.
Thot you were a retired nurse @Lewkat as you stated in a pm with me?And, the police would be thugs had they fully destroyed the vehicles. I resent that remark since I was once a cop.
I am, but I took 10 years off and became a police officer. Our town needed a female, and since the Police Department was across the street from my house and my son was getting ready to go to school, this was an opportunity I thought I'd like to try. Had to go to the Police Academy for 6 weeks. Interesting work sometimes not so pleasant. After my son was settled in High School, I left and became a clinical instructor in nursing in NYC.Thot you were a retired nurse @Lewkat as you stated in a pm with me?
Here is a quote taken from the article that Win, posted.Yikes!
I wonder why they did that? Anyone have any idea?
With nine members of Minneapolis City Council in favour of, and vowing to dismantle the city's police department, I can't think of a more deserving police department to dismantle. What on earth is wrong with the police in Minnesota? Maybe it's something in the water?
I didn't say you were a juvenile delinquent but if you want to be offended anyway be my guest. I resent your resentment, but I'm going to let it go.And, the police would be thugs had they fully destroyed the vehicles. I resent that remark since I was once a cop.
"The department said troopers deflated tires to keep the vehicles from being used in attacks against law enforcement or protesters and for the vehicles to be towed if a collection of evidence was necessary".
Holy Cow! Only 6 weeks? It took me 29 weeks, but then again, I’m a slow learner.I am, but I took 10 years off and became a police officer. Our town needed a female, and since the Police Department was across the street from my house and my son was getting ready to go to school, this was an opportunity I thought I'd like to try. Had to go to the Police Academy for 6 weeks. Interesting work sometimes not so pleasant. After my son was settled in High School, I left and became a clinical instructor in nursing in NYC.
I agree with all that you said! Those "reasons" don't sound legal or sensible, to me.
Preventative vandalism?
Makes one wonder if those particular officers, were acting out of fear, or anger, or mischief, but with the info so far, it doesn't seem right, regardless, for professionals.
Though I realize that more evidence will likely come forth....
but in addition, I have a concern for some good-intentioned people who likely could have been parked there.
Harming tires put some car drivers at risk,
as they would have no way to safely leave the area, if they had planned to be %100 peaceful, and were innocent of any crime,
but some other person posing as a peaceful demonstrator, caused trouble by starting some crime or violence. Some innocent young person, or some older people, might not be able to decide when to leave, if actual criminals showed up.
Btw, 6 weeks of training is all that some officers received? That doesn't seem adequate, to me, either. It is surely a complex and challenging job for anyone, including those with the best intentions.
