Not that anyone is asking

My daughter is a pharmacist and works every other weekend. In fact all the pharmacies here in Houston are open on the weekends. Must be a regional thing. so sorry to hear this about your situation. Keeping you on my prayer list.
yes same here in the UK pharmacies are open all weekend...even if the independent ones aren't, the pharmacies in the supermarkets are

How can Sacramento, the capital city of California, close or shorten hours of pharmacies on weekends? This makes no sense.

Frank, I'm so sorry to hear of all the pain you've been experiencing. Just awful.

and @terry123

When CVS said they were out I called my Dr. Her exchange sent the Rx to their medical center pharmacy.... closed on Sat & Sun.

If I hadn't eaten so many gummys, I might have remembered I called on a Fri afternoon.

I just called CVS to see if they still have my Rx and if they got any Norco. "Your CVS pharmacy is currently closed."

Saturday hours, maybe? I'll cal again.

I'm freaking miserable. I'm taking as much Ibuprophen as I think my liver can stand.

I am not down with the gummys. They are not for me. "Expect a mild body-high" Mild? To whom? If 98% of the population gets a Mild high, I'm a 2-percenter. I cannot function when I'm on any level of high. Oh, it had it's benefits. Hint: Michelle is none the worse for wear (I don't think), but this didn't do my back any favors at all.

Could have been a mild high, for all I know. Whatever, they mess up my head and steal my energy, and I have little of that to spare (except occasionally, it seems...or, different energy).

Anyway, I've been pathetic the past couple days so I'll be toughing it out til tomorrow. Hopefully, CVS opens today and can fill my Rx. The medical center pharmacy can fill it. They're part of a hospital, so I'm sure they have stock-piles of Norco. So tomorrow, for sure. Probly.

The question is; does a Dr. have to sign-off on the transfer? My Dr. only works on Tuesdays, and I called kinda late afternoon on a Fri. Back-up Dr.s leave early on Fri's.

Nothing I've ever been Rxed relieves my back pain and the RLS like Norco/hydrocodone. It totally stops the RLS, a miserable thing to have, and keeps the pain pretty tolerable for 3 or 4 hours, if I don't do too much.

All local pharmacies ran out before. Last Nov, I think. The FDA held up shipments months earlier.

Man, I stink. And I'm not sure I brushed my teeth yesterday, so I brushed twice already today. I started keeping a log after I got those gummys, to keep track of which I ate, how many and at what time, and details of the effects. Yeah, right. I mean, I wrote something here and there, but the doodles are extremely distracting. (I didn't know I had such thoughts)

I'm not sure if I underfed or overfed my cats the past 2 days. They look a little lethargic.

I played "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" on a loop. With headphones. Maybe for 2 days. My arse started feeling like the seat of my recliner. Exactly. Is that normal?

I need a shower in the worst way, but I don't think I can do it. Not today.

Those Sativa gummys made my RLS flare up bad. It was either them or the one with 100mg CBD. Can't tell by my log.

I still have gummys and I'll take one called Buddy if it gets emergency-room bad. Although, the hosp ER is bound to have some hydrocodon. Nah, I can't be arsed.

Maybe where I went wrong with the gummys is, I ate some every few hours, like my meds, and like, various ones in combo; one Buddy, one KANHA, 1/2 a FROOT...or whatever. That's where I started but I don't know how I combined them after a while. I know I started eating the FROOT whole. They have the most THC.

I'm still buzzed. And my back is killing me. The kitchen's a disaster. I begged Meesh not to clean it so she just picked up a bit. She had to get to the coffee thingy, after all. So, it'll be another day of reclining and chain-smoking with the occasional cup of tea and 1.000 YouTube videos I'll forget. But first I'll feed the cats....just in case.

You shouldn't have had to suffer while waiting, I'm angry about that. Are you taking more pills than advised, Frank, is that why you sometimes run short? It is often difficult to stick to the prescribed dose when in extra pain, I know. I keep a daily record of how many opioids I take each day, noting when I take them or I can forget. Most days it is easier to stick with prescribed daily dose, but not always. I'm real careful, afraid of running short. Maybe I do have discipline, that's nice for me to realize!

I take them as prescribed. I didn't run short, the pharmacies were out of all opioid meds. The FDA held up a shipment some months ago and that caused late deliveries and shortages this month. This happened last year, too...in November, I think.

I was sure the hospital pharmacy had plenty, so I asked my doc to order my Rx through them, but that was late afternoon on a Friday and the hospital pharmacy is closed on weekends.

Today, both pharmacies had enough to fill my Rx, and they both had the order so for a while there I thought I might get away with double-dipping.

Apparently, they talk to each other.

Maybe I do have discipline, that's nice for me to realize!
Even if it's only occasional, celebrate it!

I stopped driving, so my wife took me shopping last Wed and she grabbed a cart, too, to get some stuff for a party at her school. So I get in a checked out line, and Meesh got in line right behind me, and I’m having to wait while my cashier talks to the cashier behind her. They talked and laughed for a few minutes until my cashier finally turned around and kind of jumped, like she was startled that a customer was standing there…waiting.

She seemed pretty bothered while she was scanning my stuff, but I’m like, whatever…I don’t say anything until she starts bagging my stuff in their bags and not mine. I always put my reusable bags right on top of the first few items they’re gonna ring up, so it’s obvious, right? It’s never caused a problem before...the checkers always get it; I brought my own bags.

And I told her that. I said “I brought my own bags.”

And she said, “And?”

And…someone must have lit Michelle’s behind on fire just then, because she went off!

“And what? And what? What? You have something against senior citizens, is that it?”

That kind of startled me, and I shot her a  look, but it made me laugh, too.

Then the cashier gave Meesh the stink-eye and said “Excuse me?”

“Excuse you? Excuse you for disrespecting this poor old man? You owe this man an apology, lady!”

And the cashier says to Michelle, “First of all, lady, this is none of your business…”

She didn’t get to “And second-of-all” bc Michelle started ripping her a new one, and every time she referred to me as “this poor old man” or “our senior citizens” I shot her a look like WTH? and tried not to laugh.

Anyway, she got louder and louder until a supervisor came over (like within 2 minutes) and sent the cashier on a break and took over the register, apologizing like crazy and packing my stuff in my reusable bags, even calling someone over to push the cart out to my car and load everything up for me, and all while Michelle’s saying stuff like, “Well, I never!” and “Our seniors deserve our utmost respect!” and stuff.

And this is the woman who calls me Poop-Head and Dickwad at home. And she also keeps saying I’m not too old for her. So yeah…made me laugh.

There's this little girl I see around the neighborhood sometimes. She's about 10 or 11, I guess, and now and then she stays with her grandmother, who lives on the next block. The first time I talked to this girl was back in April or May. I was watering the front yard and she called out from the sidewalk, "Mister, is this your dog?" She had my neighbor's dog on a leash, and I told her who the owners were and pointed to their house across the street.

Ever since, whenever she's riding around on her bike or just walking down the street and sees me in my yard or on my front porch, she comes to chat for a bit....You're yard looks nice. Do you have to water it a lot? What kind of flowers are those? What kind of tree is that? Do you have kids?

Anyway, a few weeks ago, she came to my door with a box of gadgets and toys still in the factory packaging. $7 each, she said. She didn't have anything I needed, but she's a really sweet kid, doing well in school and stuff, so I bought a thing you attach to a garden hose for kids to play in the water. A cheap Water-Wiggle knock-off. I was thinking maybe Meesh could take it to her pre-school, where she works.

The neighbor across the street saw me buy from this little girl, and came over that evening to tell me he's pretty sure the girl's grandma shoplifts that stuff from Target and Walmart, and then sends the girl out to sell stolen goods door-to-door. He said the little girl asked if there was a reward for "finding" his dog that time back in April/May. His dog had never gotten out of the yard before, and hasn't since.

What in the hell is wrong with people? What makes them like that? What kind of future is that nice little girl looking at?...I ask myself. It's baffling.

sounds like she's already well on her way to being a skilled con artist as Jules said... she's already mastered the art of the charm initiative...
Breaks my heart. She's a sweet kid. I get that that's part of the ploy, but she's also intelligent, articulate, confident...talents that could take her far if she isn't destined for prison.

I had an experience like that before we were married, but sharing an apartment. There was a mother and daughter down the hall from us. The girl was around 15, and took to me for some reason. Most of the time, she was not being fed. Her mother told her that "fasting is good". Meanwhile, mother was going out to the club every weekend with her boyfriend, dressed to the nines.

She fobbed her daughter off on her paternal grandmother, instructing her to ask for clothes (she was never married to the girl's father). The one time I saw their apartment, I was taken aback .. powder blue & white, sheers and carpeting .. like in a fairy tale. But, she wasn't feeding her daughter. When I took her downtown, she wanted to stop in to her father's girlfriend's clothing store. She asked the woman outright, for free clothes (the woman kindly declined, and I felt embarrassed). I often took her out for a burger, and gave her one of my winter coats. Sometimes, I think of what kind of woman she became .. and feel sad.

When I lived at the apartments, I had a neighbor who immigrated with his family from somewhere in South America. His religious beliefs were based on old superstitions that included starving your kids to rid them of demons. The kids who were "tortured" by these imagined demons were his step-kids, a boy and his younger sister. They used to come over to play with my grandkids, Kirk and his younger sister, Ariel. They were all around age 8.

Then that neighbor and his wife had a baby boy, and over the next few years I watched that guy's stepkids get thinner and thinner, and more and more obedient while his bio-son got fatter and chunkier and more and more demanding.

When I moved here, the step-daughter had turned 13, and was no longer allowed to leave their apartment except to go to school and church. I'd only see her when she was walking to and from her dad's car, and I noticed that, while the stepson, her full biological-brother, was still getting thinner, she was fattening up, getting a thicker waist and thighs and butt.

That really disturbed me. I even called CPS at one point but they didn't do anything, as far as I know.

Murrmurr, " I'm taking as much Ibuprofen as I think my liver can stand."
I'd run your taking Ibuprofen by your doctor. Acetaminophen is way less harsh on liver, kidneys, and with diabetes.
The Ibuprofen is a prescription. I take three 600mg tabs...1800mg a day.

I get plenty of acetaminophen already. It's an ingredient in my pain med, which has 10mg hydrocodone + 325mg acetaminophen per tab, and I take 5 of those a day.

According to my liver doctor, acetaminophen is harder on the liver than ibuprofen, but ibuprofen is harder on the kidneys.

The *odd* thing about all that is that aspirin is hard on the stomach-lining, but not nearly as damaging to the liver or kidneys (or anything) as both ibuprofen and acetaminophen, and it's like 300% cheaper. And now you can get "easier on the stomach" coated aspirin, which is still at least 1 or 2 hundred % cheaper. *Odder* still, our CVS doesn't even carry aspirin. 🤔
