Working on my family tree there are so many strange names. They were common back then. Like Blessings, Charity, Paltiah and others. Some I can't figure out how they sound or what they meant. My nieces have named their children names I cannot even begin to remember. It is like they all want the weirdest name they can come up with. I never liked my middle name.
My GGG Grandfather had a half-brother (same mom) named James McHenry, first name/last name. James was adopted by my GGGG Grandfather, so then took on the family surname. My GGG Grandfather then proceeded to honor his half-brother by naming one of his sons James McHenry, 'McHenry' being the middle name instead of a surname. It took me weeks to sort that one out! It also didn't help that Grandpa was named Reuben, and there was a Reuben in a generation or two on each side of him.
I had a GGG Aunt named 'Dorcas'.
My Grandfather and G Grandfather were both named 'Cyrenus'. (Sigh-ree-nus)
