I realize this will be old news by tomorrow, but just wondering: has anybody actually seen any of the pictures that were nominated? I haven't, and haven't even heard of some of them!

I haven’t but want to see Bohemian Rhapsody.

Everyone that saw it said it was excellent even people,who didn’t really know or like Queen’s music.

Ill wait and stream it probably on Amazon Prime. It’s a long movie and I’ll be more comfy at home anyway.
 
I want to see Bohemian Rhapsody and A Star is Born, but watched some of the Oscars on TV this morning as I love to see what the stats are wearing, pink seemed to be the most popular colour .....

I haven't seen any of them but I guess I'll eventually get around to watching a couple when our library gets them in. I didn't watch the Oscars and not much interested in what they are wearing. From the looks of the dresses in the photos I could get enough fabric out of one to make several nightgowns.
 
Hubby and I both loved Green Book-highly recommend it. I laughed and I cried. Just watched Bohemian Rhapsody yesterday and it was a great movie as well-but then I really like Queen and think some of their music was genius.
 
I only saw 1 nominated movie,"A Star is Born' starring Bradley Cooper{his debut as director},Lady Gaga,Sam Elliott
I really enjoyed it, 1,000 time better than the '76 version
 
Since we Red Box rent/watch a lot of movies, we did see some of the ones that were at the Oscars last night. Oh, and yes, a definite YES, we did watch the Oscars and the Red Carpet Interviews last night, but also recorded both. We did go to bed at 10, so will watch the rest tonight. However, first thing this morning, I did look up the winners. The opening of the Oscars, where Adam Lambert sang some Queen songs and Brian May, original member of Queen, was playing Lead Guitar, was absolutely amazing. We are definitely Queen fans, but then again, I'm a former drummer of Classic Rock. BTW, definitely NOT an Adam Lambert fan, but his performance last night, doing the Queen songs, was exceptional.

Rented/watched part of The Black Panther, but it was hard for us to understand so we stopped watching it.
Seen Bohemian Rhapsody, in Dolby Sound, at local theater. Other than a few sexual scene's, including men kissing, to us the movie was excellent. Rami done a great job of playing Freddy Mercury! We actually have a dvd concert of Queen and some of their songs on a cd.

My wife spent some time in Hollywood as an "extra" back in 1997. She was in Air Force One and we can pause the dvd and see her. She was also in Volcano, with Tommy Lee Jones and Drew Barrymore's, Never Been Kissed. Her Agent asked her if she wanted to be in Titanic in 1997 (I believe), but she turned it down. Didn't want to be in the water and in Mexico where it was being filmed. That ended her "Movie Extra" thing.

We really like most awards ceremonies.

But, and a BIG "but", Spike Lee wasn't happy at all that The Green Book won Best Picture and neither was the Producer of the Klansman movie they both done. When The Green Book was announced as Best Picture, Mr. Lee left his seat and headed to the door. He was no allowed to leave and went back to his seat. Fortunately, for him, the "acceptance speeches" for The Green Book were done by the time he got back to his seat.

Bohemian Rhapsody won four Oscars (GREAT), including Best Actor for Rami, who played Freddy Mercury.

Actually, wife and I were thinking that the movie 42 The Jackie Robinson Story, was somewhat similar to Green Book. Both about what blacks had to go thru back then. We have 42 The Jackie Robinson Story in dvd.

We have always been fans of Queen. Have a concert dvd of them and their songs on a cd that we play as well.
 
Gee, just what I want to watch: A bunch of millionaires and billionaires patting each other on the back by giving out meaningless awards, amongst themselves. In general, the more Oscars a given movie has won, the worse it is, these days, if I ever get around to watching it. "Roma" was a ho-hum piece that was just there, being neither good nor bad. "Black Panther" had nice costumes, but the story line was trite, the movie boring. Obviously, box office receipts show that some, out there, go for these movies. To each his/her own.
 
I couldn't watch the show last night because we lost our TV/phone/Internet service
I think one of the biggest surprises was documentary"Free Solo' winning over favorite 'RBG'
"Solo' which is about climber,Alex Honnold scaling Yosemite's El Capitan will have broadcast premiere on National Geographic Sun March 3rd at 9pm.
I'm looking forward to seeing this Sue
 
Oh, come to think about it, the Star Wars movie, Solo was nominated for Best Visual Effects. Didn't win and I didn't think it would. The Star Wars saga is coming to a complete end this coming Dec. when the last movie comes out. Seen Solo in the theater and it was basically just ok. Would never buy the movie for our Star Wars movie collection.

I don't remember the last time I was in a movie theater. I enjoy watching movies at home. I do want to see
Bohemian Rhapsody, and a Star is born. I was a Queen fan and a close friend of ours is Lady Gaga's cousin ,so I would like to see that too. I also really like Bradley Cooper​

I have to say the Oscars sure were boring compared to how great the Grammys were this year. I was rockin' & rollin' to the music this year!:banana:
 
Well, I just read an article about the show, which reinforced my belief that I didn't miss anything by not watching.


LOS ANGELES, Feb 24 (Reuters) - Director Spike Lee, whose film "BlacKkKlansman" was Oscar-nominated for best picture, said "the ref made a bad call" when the competing racial drama "Green Book" won the top prize at Sunday's Academy Awards.

Lee tried to storm out of the Dolby Theatre just after "Green Book" was announced the winner at the end of the Oscar show, according to various media accounts, then came back to his seat, where he turned his back on the stage during "Green Book" acceptance speeches."
