Peace keeps moving farther away

So - according to today's news, Germany is having a resurgence of extreme right-wing politics, of the sort that they haven't had there since WW2. Probably the generation who are too young to remember that war are determined to do it all over again. This time, the chosen enemy is the Muslims who have moved into Germany.

Israel sounds like it is about to go up in flames, unless they manage to get rid of Netanyahu.

And I often get the feeling that this country is on the verge of a civil war. Great times we're living in!

That's quite a basket of issues and the causes involve political and social factors I doubt we can have an honest discussion about here.

When people throw around charged labels like "extreme right-wing" and invoke WW II there is no room for reason, sympathy, or compromise. They're already astride the Four Horses of the Apocalypse, riding in a Holy War.

And yesterday was the 85th anniversary of Germany's invasion of Poland, that kicked off WW2.

No one is "throwing around charged labels." The information is straight out of a front-page article by Kate Brady and Anthony Faiola in today's Washington Post. Their headline is:
GERMAN FAR RIGHT NEARS HISTORIC POSTWAR VICTORY.

And the article keeps invoking WW II. I'd give you the link, but that paper doesn't make its articles available unless you are a subscriber. But here is the first sentence:
Projections in Germany's closely watched elections Sunday showed the anti-migrant Alternative for Germany (AfD) party leading in one state and running a close second in another, a result that, if confirmed by official tallies, would see a far-right party win a state for the first time in the country's post-war victory.

This is not a political discussion. It's a description of the danger of wars erupting all over the world.

The "Alternative for Germany" is the only conservative party in Germany, since the CDU (Christian Democratic Union) became a left party because of chancellor Merkel. Before Merkel the CDU hat the same political goals, i.e. immigration to Germany only for real skilled workers and academics, remigration (deportation) of highly criminal migrants (killers and rapists), an economy free from too much political interventions.

Only the AfD demands negotiations between the Ukraine and Russia to stop the deaths of so many young men. In fact the other parties want to prolong war between Russia and the Ukraine.

And the AfD is completely for the right of Israel for self-defence and supports Netanyahu's strict politics.

And believe it or not, many Jews are members of the AfD, since it is the only party which condems the antisemitism of left groups. They gather and cry "From the river to the sea" which means the total destruction of Israel. There is no reaction from partys except the AfD.

True. Also, there's that old quote--I won't get into who said it first; apparently oodles of famous people have said it in one form or another--about the smartest thing the devil ever did was to convince the world he didn't exist.. It would be wise to remember that when listening to p0liticians "explain" why their party or movement is not radical but just has everyone's (the "right" everyones, of course) best interests at heart.

From things I have read people in countries around the world have taken exception to governments allowing people from other countries into their country without following the proper procedures. This may start a civil war and I would really hate to see it happen to any country.

I agree. I think all the so called extremism is a direct result of Western governments opening borders to everyone and making their own law abiding citizens pay for it.

Netanyahu's resignation would change the political landscape, but peace for Israel would take a whole lot more than changing the leaders. The underlying tensions that have been there throughout history would still be there and would erupt again no matter who's sitting in the "call me boss" chair.
Yeah, but it would be a starting point in the right direction if he were ousted and held accountable for his crimes. Also, many Palestinian lives would be spared.

It is a mess. I can't keep up with the melodrama of the propaganda on all sides. I am processing what I can from my pea brain, so I don't trust it either. It is all too complicated for me, so I can not be sure of anything, and things change daily, some big things that shake up the fighting. Plus I lean towards global warming, and I know how much that war causes environmental damage, and the resources it eats up. Both going on concerns me, I wish one would stop, but the have colluded in a double whammy.

Things seem to me to be about the same as they have always been. We're always on the brink somewhere. We had the Protestants and Catholics in Ireland killing each other, but now they've stopped. We had turmoil in the Balkans but I guess that's over. There is always a civil war somewhere in Africa. Israel and the Arabs have been at war multiple times. Iraq and Iran killed hundreds of thousands of each others' people.

US troops aren't fighting anywhere right now, so that's a good thing. Other than that, I don't see much that's different, or much that will change depending on which party I vote for.

Putin was quite happy with Merkel's chancellery because she was all about Ukraine negotiating their way out of Russia's invasion and annexations.

Putin has been publicly threatening nuclear annihilation of Berlin over the past year or so because, not only does Olaf Scholz not support negotiations over Ukrainian's sovereign territory, he is supporting Ukraine with funds and military equipment. He knows Putin won't stop at Ukraine, and never planned to.

It's something the internet has ushered in. Especially people claiming they're not far right while voting for people on the far right. :D

The world is in an ugly place. There is too much hatred, and frankly, uneducated people who think they have to have extreme views about everything. and then right-fight on the net. We have people who don't know how to date unless it's via computer. We have 2.1m - mostly young women - selling pictures of their body in suggestive poses, if not naked, on OnlyFans (and I'm not talking just porn stars, but teenagers in their bedroom who think there's nothing wrong with it, and it's all cash, so it must be okay.) We have Snapchat and Instagram users who literally beg for money all day long.

And that's not even all of the surface level stuff!
