Im curious, have any of you ever taking your pet to a pet psychic for a paw reading?

Sat this ad in todays paper, cost is $10 for a 15 minute session.

Funny you should bring this up. Just yesterday a friend emailed that her son and DIL had two dogs some years back that spent a lot of time at her house because the son/DIL lived just across the road. One summer day she decided to give the dogs a bath and one way or another the two dogs ended up in a big bucket and she snapped a picture. The dogs have both since died, and son/DIL now have another dog. This past Saturday, her DIL went to a pet store with the dog and there was a pet psychic there, readings were free, so she stopped to chat with the woman. The psychic told her that her dog wanted to spend some time with the grandmother. Huh? Yes, the one who gave the other dogs a bath and took a picture of them in a bucket. The new dog wants to "get to know the grandmother because she loves dogs".

My friend was properly astounded, and so was her DIL. There's no way on God's green earth that the psychic could have known about the two dogs from years ago and that there was a snapshot of them in a bucket. No way. She lives in a very rural area, the dog-bath occasion was years ago, and the psychic was from a different city.

Anyway, the son and DIL are going on vacation in a couple of weeks and leaving their dog with my friend to dog sit while they're gone. It was planned before the DIL and the dog visited the psychic.

Many years ago, when I had horses, we had a psychic come out and give the two horses a reading. The first horse was a grumpy natured one, and I think that was the reason that we asked the lady to come out. She had been at the fair, or something similar, and when we talked to her there, she gave me her card.

I don't really remember what she said was the attitude problem with the first horse anymore; but the second horse was more unusual. When she was giving us the information from Izzy (Izadora, the Peruvian Paso, to be specific); Izzy told her that she did not want to have any babies. She thought something was wrong inside, and was worried about it.

We weren't planning on having her bred, so it was not a big thing at the time, and we pretty much forgot the whole episode. When we moved from Washington State to Missouri, we sold the horses, and Izzy went to a family that had a dude ranch and used Peruvians on the trail because they are so smooth to ride.
Apparently, they decided to breed Izzy, and the last time I heard from them, Izzy had had a colt and she died when it was born. They saved the colt, and had to bottle raise it, but it was sad and unexpected to lose the mother, and even the vet wasn't sure what went wrong.

After that, I wondered if maybe the horse psychic did know what she was doing, more than I thought at the time.

Wow, interesting story about Izzy and the psychic, so sorry to hear she died. :( I've seen pet psychics on TV, and it's one of those things just like people psychics, I'd have to have an experience to help me believe. What happened to your horse would make me a believer! Of course, some of these people seem to be legit, and some just scammers.

I've never heard of pet psychics before. Those are really interesting stories. Creepy. Stephen King should write a book about it. He's great at animal stories.

I can see why Justme feels the way she does to a degree. There are a lot of psychics, mainly for people, who are con artists and scammers. They were talking about it once on the Coast to Coast AM radio show. The Coast show has many topics that support UFOs, ghosts and other supernatural phenomena. A psychic was verifying that there are many cheats out there, especially the ones who advertise to call their telephone numbers. They are skilled in deceiving customers.

They have many psychics and numerologists guests on that show, and have millions of listeners all over the world...very popular show. Although I have my doubts about these things, I do have a very open mind. Although seein' is believin', so if I had a personal experience, I'd be much more convinced. I think Justme has said a lot of positive things, she just doesn't mince any words when expressing her opinion.

Justme - a straight shooter without a gun.

I agree with SeaBreeze. Some posters speak their minds frankly and Justme isn't the only one.
It would be a very boring world is everyone had the same personality.

At this point I feel that I have to apologise for laughing at the original post.
I just can't imagine anyone paying for a psychic reading for an animal, pet or no.

Any of these so called psychics that can tell you your life story just by reading the lines on your hand for $20-50 a pop is a genius.IMO
Its takes a lot of self training by simply asking the right questions and observing the facal expression and body language of the sucker.

Nothing wrong with being a straight shooter and I agree that Justme doesn't pull any punches. I guess it's just the little snippets that I don't agree with, but then, maybe that's my easy going nature. I try to keep the negative stuff off the forums, and yes, I been accused of being to easy going.
But, to each his or hers own and I'll overlook the negativity as much as I can.

Davey Jones, exactly. These scam artists are experts at throwing out ideas and reading the reactions of their "marks." About the story of the dogs getting a bath in a bucket and the photo, etc., I have a feeling that story was heavily embellished somewhere along the way. Maybe the "psychic" had gotten some preliminary information out of the DIL about the grandmother and mentioned her in her "reading." DIL wanted so much to believe that she added the details about the bath in the bucket.

Lot of claptrap.

I'm easy going too Pappy, and try to respect others' opinions whether I agree with them or not. I try not to be too negative, just explain my point of view. :peace:

I have to say I've never had any type of fortune telling or psychic reading myself...but something in me tells me to leave well enough alone, lol! Kind of like using a Ouija board, don't believe they are evil, but not willing to find out.

Without the negativity this forum would not last a month.

I think that we can find people who lie and cheat in just about any circumstance; not just a psychic. Look at all the internet scammers there are. And how about used car salesmen; they have had a terrible reputation for years. Or quack doctors, the list goes on and on.
Something that is hard to tell whether it is right or not, like a psychic; just makes it harder to tell the sincere from the fakes.
In just about any item/service that is being sold, there will be both valuable products, and there will be scams.

The actual question here is not whether psychics are scammers or not, but whether it is POSSIBLE to communicate with an animal. Some of us think it can be done; some think the very idea is foolishness.
The same thing is debated hotly here about vitamins and supplements. Some of us believe they help, and wouldn't go without our supplements, others think that nutritionists are a bunch of scammers taking people's money.

Personally, I DO believe that we can communicate with animals telepathically. I have had things (like the horse incident) that have helped to convince me that it is possible; but I do not understand all of how it works, or how to be able to do it.
That does not stop me from believing that it can be done, and that some people have learned how to do it.

Justme....Just for my own curiosity, do you ever have anything positive to say? I can't recall anything that's been said on the forum that you have agreed with. It can't all be bad, or can it.

I have agreed with things from time to time, but I make no apology from telling it how it is from my perspective.:D

Having been an amateur magician for some time I had been exposed to many of the tricks that spiritualists, psychics and etc. use. It's part physical (they'll do an exhaustive background research on their subject before meeting them) and part psychological - cold-reading, body language, leading the conversation and such.

I think of myself as an open-minded skeptic - I disbelieve most things of an occult nature until they happen to me personally. Thus, I never believed in ghosts until I saw one, never believed in tarot readers until one told me my entire life-story on our first meeting and so on.

As for animals, I don't make much distinction between them and humans, except that animals tend to be kinder, more guileless and more loving, so why couldn't a bonafide psychic "talk" to them? Many household pets can sense when we're sick or simply down - do they do this from reading our body language or do they have some sort of invisible bond with us?

No one really knows, so it's really all open to interpretation.

That lady is wearing a crucifix - isn't practicing the "dark arts" against the Christian manifesto?
