Proposed New York skyscraper design

Eye-popping renderings have been unveiled for a 210m (688ft) sci-fi-style New York skyscraper that almost looks like it has been fashioned from Play-Doh, with twisting tube-like structures coiled inside a towering frame.

The organic design has been dreamt-up by Turkish architecture firm Hayri Atak Architectural Design Studio, which described the structure as 'amorphous' and having a 'transparent, ghostly stance in the city skyline'.

What do you think?

The only thing going for it is the odd hollowness. In NYC, the more notable a building means the higher the rent. But looking at the building, with all of its inner facing sections, I don't think people are going to pay premium rents, so that you have an unlimited view of someone else's bathroom. The plans will make for a cool movie set, but that's about all that will be actually built.

I'm a country boy at heart so Merle Haggard says it all for me:

I'm tired of this dirty old city
Entirely too much work and never enough play
And I'm tired of these dirty old sidewalks.

Turn me loose set me free, somewhere in the middle of Montana.
Gimme all I got coming to me"

Guess Merle & I would agree that New York is an interesting place to visit but to be honest, I wouldn't want to live there. Each to their own; I suppose. Sorry, New Yorkers, but I like to think that "Freedom of Speech" still means something.

The latest are these tall, skinny residential skyscrapers that ruin my view and make me sick. Some of us love them, some, like me, hate them.

This reminds me of the new guitar shaped new hotel at the Hollywood Florida Hard Rock Hotel. IMHO just the logistics alone would be a nightmare. I especially enjoyed the angled elevator scheme though. Their other super high super thin skyscrapers are already under construction, very small real estate footprint.
