Also, putting down other countries and pointing out how their country is better. Give it a rest, every country has its own problems. Putting down, ridiculing, and passing judgment on common folk or celebrities for their lifestyle choices. I'm sure the people doing it all live exemplary lives and are above reproach in all aspects. Posting photos of people who are born naturally deformed because they think it's funny, or posting photos of people who've had plastic surgery and then ridiculing them when it's obvious that those individuals have mental problems with their body image. Calling more attention to it isn't at all helpful. It's worse than unkind; it's dreadful and downright cruel. There must be something else these people can post that doesn't involve put-downs and ridicule.

When I saw this thread, I wanted to see what people were saying. I didn't feel compelled to contribute. I was simply presented with an opportunity to say what was on my mind, and I did. Why did you post?

Yes, it's true. In my town alone (the third largest city) there is rape nearly daily and shootings once a week. But we're not allowed to talk about it because we will be labeled "racist". Some time ago there was a young girl who was raped (before it was decided to censor the news) and when a reporter asked her about it she replied, "I'm afraid to say it was a foreigner who raped me". She actually said that! The local cop shop in the predominantly immigrant neighbourhood of Rosengård had to relocate because it was under attack by gunfire, bombs, and hand grenades almost every week-end. There is seldom a time when the police have not been forced to retreat whenever they are called in to quell disturbances. Masses of immigrants come rushing in to stone the police forcing them to leave and let the cars and dumpsters burn out on their own. The very same treatment is met by firemen and ambulances. We took those people in to save them from war and strife in their home countries and yet they hate us with an unquenching passion. Unless you are a resident of one of the "no go" zones (and are recognized) it is unsafe for a Swedish person to be found there.
 
Oh, I'm so offended someone said something negative to pierce my balloon of joy. Oh poor me. So don't read the thread. We're not all Pollyannas. You're clutching your pearls so tight you'll strangle yourself. Oh my, oh dear.

Thank you Ruthanne, for this thread. It's healthy to have a place to gripe instead of holding it in.

I particularly recall an incident when a group of Libyan military officers were in the UK getting specific military training but they were sent back after thievery and raping both male and female residents of the town. Where was that again? The very odd thing that stands out is that there is a monument to the American military thanks to their efforts during WW II but It had been covered over so as not to insult the Libyans during their stay! Oh, yes and the highest-ranking Libyan officer blamed everything on the Brits for not having "informed them of the rules" beforehand.

Reminds me of a little story I put together from an experience at the last place I worked before retirement

Back when I toiled for others, I ran into situations with the finer forms of humanity.
Wimin in bizniss.
Aggressive, mean but polite, ornery, devious, conniving, scheming, jealous, tricky, shrewd, wimin.
…and that was just the cleaning lady.

Before I got bumped into upper management, never knew what went on in some lady’s minds.
Seemed nice, cordial, pretty, fit, a tad amatory in regard to attire of choice.
They were very good with what they did.
Puzzled me they could devote so much time to conniving and yet do such a commendable job with their departments.
And, man, cut ya down in a heartbeat, think nothing of it.
I pretty much settled in to their step-n-fetch-it guy.
Survival.

But

There were times

Planning meetings
Closed conference rooms
You could feel the electricity
their targets were each other
the stare...daggers across the conference table
Get between ‘em and you’d be zapped, turned to a quivering mass of goo, something to be mopped up and flushed.
They’d even join forces to accomplish that, then go back to efficiently plotting each other’s demise.
I was there to cut that potential electrical storm with humor

Not easy

At times I became their target
I’m not a guy that dwells on things
Guys are like that
Git mad at someone, have it out, done, over.

But,

with these ladies, they caused me to think, even dream up certain scenarios.
I’d find myself, on the way to work, thinking up snappy comebacks.
Never came to fruition, but, somehow gratifying.

However

Even if one was successful in the upbraiding dept, they’d pull out their ultimate weapon...crying.

I was culling some scrap wire in the warehouse.
Left over garbage from an auction lot.
Wasn’t even in inventory.
The QAM came running at me.

‘You can’t just scrap that without getting approval!’
‘Nothing is scrap unless I say it is!’

Got all in my face
Started thumping my chest
I focused on her finger, thumping as she blathered
Something welled within
Took the ten pound spool of unusable wire
Raised it high
And smashed it on the warehouse floor with as much force as I could muster
‘Now! It’s scrap!!’
(felt like Moses)

She ran off, locked herself in her office.
You could hear her in there, crying.

‘bout then the prez came thru the front door
Whistling a joyful tune
Holding a happy meal breakfast in a bag
Got some coffee
Asked how things were going

Heh

The same is happening in many parts of the UK... not London as many people seem to think ..altho' parts of London has their own problems.. but mainly North of England where the worst immigration problems are reported in the UK... ..however not as bad as what I'm reading in Sweden, and I hope to God it never gets that bad. Currently from what I understand the gangs of Immigrants are fighting mainly among themselves.. Albanians V Syrians, or Romanians..etc... but what is apparently worse if the intimidation caused to the indigenous residents.. and like Sweden we're no allowed to say anything for fear of being labelled.. and even arrested for being Racist..

I’m guessing it will never be as bad in the UK as it is in Sweden for more than one reason.

* We don’t have the British ”one more word from you and you’ve had it” mentality.
* If you run in Sweden you’re gone. In the UK the chase is on.
* We don’t deport anyone as far as I can see no matter what you’ve done. The UK is more likely to toss you out.
* In Sweden, if firemen or ambulance is under attack our police back off. I believe Brits honour their responsibilities with water canons or perhaps rubber bullets? Truncheons for sure. Lock arms and move forward.
* Our politicians have no balls. Brits on the other hand ..... (y)

Additional observation: Have you ever heard of a Swedish brawl? No, you have not. But many Brits I've met love a good punch-up. Just take a look at the average High Street in front of a pub on a Friday night.

@Verisure and @hollydolly, I'm so sorry these crimes are occurring in your country. The US also has problems with some immigrants who replicate the very criminal scenarios they were supposedly desperately fleeing. Reasons why they do that are varied and complicated, but the end result for their new countries is the same.

@Gary O': My friend, high school and younger "mean girls" grow up to be mean women - and often raise the next generation of mean girls. I ran into more than a few during my working years. Horrible creatures.

Yeah, what's with that? A boyfriend would be screaming at me to get out, get out, you have an hour to get your stuff out of here! So, even if I'd just had major surgery or the bus stop was many miles away, and I had to leave everything behind, I left.

Then I'd hear from them a year later, and they'd say, "I miss you. Why did you leave?"

???
