Reflections of My Life

@Colleen, I got the walmart plus when I had to have a hip replacement. The recovery was not bad but I was not allowed to drive for a few weeks. I found that it was very helpful when I did not feel well to get out and shop.

I have kept the membership to use as needed. Just another convenience when I don't feel well or the weather is bad. To me, it is well worth the membership fee, to have the option of delivey is amazing when you live alone.

I do have a son that could shop for me but he has his own family to look after and I do not want to throw another thing on his list. The store is only a half mile from my home so the driver is not spending a lot for gas. The tip, to me is very little to have someone carry all those heavy thing to my door and I am happy to give it.

I do not own a car so using the delivery for groceries is worth it for me. I give a 15% tip on my deliveries. On Instacart my delivery fee is only about $2.99 or something like that because I have a subscription to it. Now for Walmart I am using the free trial presently so there is no delivery charge yet. I guess the tip was 10% ? It was only $3.50 and they charged it separate from the groceries. I have only used it once so far. The subscription to it is $98. or half if you have a SNAP benefit account.

If I get transportation to Walmart, I go inside. I would much rather go inside to shop than pick them up outside the store. If I am there in the parking lot I want to go inside.........I like to shop for groceries! Crazy I know, but I really do.

I also enjoy grocery shopping!! I do not go out a lot so grocery shopping is a good outing for me. I shop Walmart for most stuff but I tend to buy meat at Kroger or Albertsons. They have good quality meats and have frequent sales with meat at loss leader prices. I stock up and freeze in portion sizes. They have a few loss leaders on sale in a given week and I am able to stock my pantry with non perishables. I am lucky to have extra space. I have a dresser that I use to store extra things in drawers. This is for canned goods, pasta, and cereals. I have another place for bags of chips, crackers, and cookies.

My grandson loves to come and shop at Grandma's house!! There are always snacks that he loves stored in that cabinet.

I do not make new year's resolutions. I always have a running list of things I am doing regardless of the date. A list of things I have to or need to do. Sometimes I do them, sometimes I don't. I do not forget about them though because they are always on my list. Many times, I do make changes gradually whether it is in my apartment or in me.

I am still trying to organize my cupboards in the kitchen so I can get certain things out of the upper cupboards easier. My shoulders both hurt so when I reach up to take something out of the cupboard it will make my shoulder hurt the rest of the day. As much as I love clear counters, I have had to put dishes and bowls out on the counter so I can just grab them. It is quicker and less painful. So today I want to see if I can eliminate items from the cupboard that I have not used in the last year. Everything on the counter presently I use often.

I am planning on replacing my bed and the recliner sometime this coming year. Both things are uncomfortable for me to use. I want an adjustable bed. I have not used my bed since about 2020 I think. I cannot lay flat and propping myself up with the wedge and pillows is not comfortable either. The recliner is comfortable but hard to get out of and the manual recline lever is impossible for me to use. I have never been able to recline it and have to use a footstool to keep my feet up. I sleep in that. I have an idea of the ones I might want to buy. So keeping that in mind.

Kat, who will you get to remove your bed and recliner from your flat ?...

I want to replace 2 beds in my house.. they're good beds and not very old, .. but with one the gas lift has stopped working . I want to change rooms completely , decorate and move my bed into a different room.. but I have to find someone who can move these very heavy things out of my house

I got the name of a guy locally off my fakebook scanner page. He does landscaping, snow removal and junk removal. He has a good reputation there.

It's always good reading your news, @katlupe! I was in bed these past few days nursing a bad cold, and today I feel a little better. I have a top foam mattress that has helped me these past few years for my back issues. Good luck in your search for a good bed!

Thank you, I hope you feel better!

The bed I have has a memory foam mattress and I love it. I will be getting the same type on the adjustable bed. They are so comfortable.

Thanks for the explanation. I understand. I'm very fortunate that I don't have any physical restrictions (yet) at 77 but I'm getting to the point I hate going grocery shopping. I've always been a loner and now that hubby is gone, I'm content to be at home by myself.

I had to go to the bank this morning and it's been pouring rain most of the day. At least it isn't snow..haha. Anyway, I thought I'd stop at Walmart after the bank as they are close to each other. I drove into Walmart. Drove around the parking lot. It was packed. I drove right out again and came home. I'll probably order online like I always do and go pick it up but I thought about you and the delivery and wondered if it wouldn't be a convenient option for me, too.

Yes, I have used pick up many times in the past. I need a few things now but I am not feeling well. I will do a delivery order for tomorrow since I do not feel up to going out.

I used Instacart today for grocery delivery from Price Chopper. I needed more spring mix for Rabbit and Jeff needed more food. So I ordered it this afternoon. Spring mix is hard to order because sometimes the same brand will pack it full of spinach. If I can look it over in the store I am careful about what I get for him. Spinach is full of oxalates and not good for bunnies (or people). So it is a gamble when I have it delivered. If it comes with a lot of spinach I go through the whole container and throw away the spinach. He won't eat it anyway. He knows.

I also did my vacuuming. Floor and furniture. What a difference it makes! Tomorrow it is the bathroom's turn. I was so tired out when I finished that I sat in my recliner and watched the first episode of Dynasty. When it was on television I never missed it. Now watching the first episode there is a lot of it that I don't remember. Amazon Prime has it on for free right now.

Now time for supper.

My brother called me again! He called me on Christmas Eve and now today, though today he called to tell me our friend from FL, one of his best friends died on December 6th. Sad to hear that because he was a really nice guy. I think he calling me more often because he is out of work right now (and looking for another job) and has more time. Still it was nice hearing from him twice in one week.

Tomorrow my girlfriend is picking me up and we are going out for the day.....an adventure she said! No plans. I am looking forward to it because her and I always used to do that in my past life. Plus I will have a little bit of money tomorrow since some of it goes into the credit union tomorrow. The rest on the first.

I got a lot of work done as far as organizing. And working on my budget. I am on the fence about the Walmart delivery though. It is $100. for the year and I already pay that for Instacart. With Instacart I have 3 stores to shop at not counting the drug stores. Walmart is my favorite store but I like to pick my stuff out there myself. With the shopper doing it for you the deals of meats being discounted would not be available. So when the free trial is over I might not keep it.

Look at other things you might receive free with the subscription. I did not get my order placed yesterday so I just did it about an hour ago. I did not realize I could get express delivery, in two hours are less. In addition I had a pop up from Microsoft Edge about coupons that might apply. There was a coupon for 20 savings with an order of 50 dollars. So I got that savings and I believe it said I could use up to 3 times this next month on delivery orders,

Interesting what you said about spinach and the oxalates. It also goes bad quickly, so I only get frozen spinach (and eat it cooked, occasionally).

Regarding watching the first episode of earlier shows, I also have caught myself not remembering them. When I do revisit them, it's as if I am seeing a new show. Have a wonderful rest of your day!

Before the kids had arrived for Xmas Rosie our little Cotton started barking.
I left my Home Office Puter desk and went to the Door with her, no one, no car.
About 30 seconds later a car turned down our street and pulled up front
in the driveway, all that time Rosie kept on announcing their arrival.
She heard / sensed their arrival out of sight at least a 1/2 mile before they arrived
at our street and turned into our driveway. Snowball said the kids will be here soon.
Maybe Rosie understood her. She understands a lot of things.

The Granddaughter, 2 yr. 9 mo. old and her parents just left our house.
Their heading off for the New Year weekend after Xmas.
After getting her good by hugs, JoJo, call me JoJo says, "You go baby Girl 2 - 4!" .....:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Okay, I will take a second look at all the benefits. I don't have Microsoft Edge so probably won't get the coupons unless they send them in an email.

So glad to have the year winding down with pretty decent weather. Last night I was able to turn my heat down to 65. I have kept it up because of Rabbit and his ears getting cold. He is old for a rabbit and so I think being cold affects him more than when he was younger. Shoot, when I first got him and he was free outside, he was surviving at 26 degrees below 0!!! In my barn.

I overslept this morning, usually I get up around 4 and today I slept to 6! On a day when I have things to do. My friend is picking me up early, 10:30 AM, and I want to be ready. So after I finish this coffee, my 2nd cup, time for my shower. If we go to a thrift store, I am on the look out for a large lampshade. I have a tall lamp that is really nice but needs a lampshade. They are so expensive now! From $60. on up........for a lamp I got for free! So if I can find one in a thrift store I will be happy.

I looked yesterday at Corningware on Amazon.........a casserole dish I have was $162. on there! I cannot believe how expensive they have become and yet people are buying them. I used to have a lot more, makes me wish I was still selling on eBay.

I finally finished my budget sheet for this month yesterday. Later today I will do my calendar. I write all my bills and my son's bills on it on the date they are due. Feel good about all that and the coming month.
