Reincarnation - Would you like to come back?

Reincarnation, also known as rebirth or transmigration, is the philosophical or religious concept that the non-physical essence of a living being begins a new life in a different physical form or body after biological death.

The idea of reincarnation has always fascinated me, the idea that you live not just one life but several. In some ways, it may be a comforting idea for people who have lost loved ones early or for someone who has had a tragic life, that they will one day be reborn.

Whether or not you believe in reincarnation, imagine if it were possible, would you give life another whirl? I think I would :)

I don't suppose that we will have a choice Trish,
if there is reincarnation, whoever is in charge,
if there is anybody, which I doubt, it will be all
automatic and we will be sent back into a place,
previously picked for each of us, depending on
our behaviour, this time.

Mike.

I agree with you @Mike but, just imagine if you were given the choice, do you think you would like to try life again?

I don't believe in reincarnation, but like everyone who's ever lived, we can only guess. Would we have a choice? If reincarnation were possible I'm thinking any decision making would be out of our hands. If given a choice, I'd say "yea", as long as I could come back as a human.

Me too! Knowing my luck though, I'd probably come back as a chicken and end up in a supermarket cooler wrapped in cellophane :( :)

As one evolves to eclipse cosmic consciousness, God consciousness,
and beyond, he also passes from the cycle of birth and death.
Until then, as a choice of the soul, one can come back to be reborn
on this or another world, if desired.
One does not come back as a lower species. Each lifetime brings
the soul closer to the Being, and more and more intensive joy.
I would be honored to be reborn in a higher world but I'm not worthy.
But we choose our lives and deaths, before our entrance to this world.

(my opinion)

@Gaer Thank you. I found it very interesting. :)

Three men appeared before Saint Peter at the gates. Obviously embarrassed, Pete told them that there had been a terrible mistake and their deaths weren't scheduled for quite some time in the future. "I can't send you back," said the Saint, "but I can give you the opportunity to live out your scheduled lifetime in a new form on Earth. What would you like to go back as?"

The first man replied "I've always envied the freedom of birds. I would like to be an eagle in the mountains of Colorado. The second man said I love the sea, I'd like to be a Dolphin frolicking in the waters off Hawaii. The third man replied "I've lived a shy life and have never had success with ladies. I'd like to go back as a real stud."

"Done" said St. Peter and the men vanished.

Some time later, the Auditor was going over St. Peters records and asked how things worked out for the three guys who were up here by accident." Pretty well" replied Pete. "The first two are where they asked to be and seem to be having a ball and the third guy is in a snow tire in Alaska.

If you come back as a Redneck, do you call it "reintarnation"?

I have a theory about reincarnation as it applies to dogs and cats. You know how a dog will hang around your feet, just waiting to get a paw or a tail stepped on? And when it happens, the dog does a YIP! and then dances all over you, forgiving you and inviting you to do it again......"Oh, I'm so sorry I was under your feet....let me dance around and lick your knees and make you feel better about stepping on me!" My theory: that dog was a used car salesman or a crooked lawyer or an unscrupulous TV evangelist in a previous life and must endure some punishment in this life before moving on to better things. So a dog is actually happy when something bad happens. It gives them the chance to be forgiving and kind and nurturing.

Cats, on the other hand, are on the last go-round of this mortal coil. They've done it all, suffered it all, atoned for it all in their previous lives and they've been offered one more life, this time when everything goes their way. They don't have to be kind or loving or solicitous because they have nothing left to suffer for. If they want to be loving, they can....but if they don't, then screw you and the Greyhound you rode in on. They have nothing to prove.

Anyway....that's my theory and I'm sticking to it. I want to be a cat next time but I'm pretty sure I have several more lives left before I get to do that....

Me-out...

Oh No... absolutely no... sometimes I think I'm doing penance for some horrible misdeeds in my past life.... no.. never again.. I never want to be born into this world again , in any kind of way...
OMG, exactly what I was going to say, but you said it first. We may not have a choice. I do believe this life is some kind of payback.

And on another note, I don't want to see any relatives when I die, if that does happen. I just want my animals.
