Ron is in the hospital

But I’m so grateful that it wasn’t far worse as these kind of falls so often are.
Our best wishes to you both... I had the same heel injury falling off a roof about 20 years ago, no surgery on the foot as I also damaged the other knee and spent the next few months in a wheelchair. few more with a walking boot.

Very good points! We have the walker and wheel chair lined up though no weight on that foot for 8-12 weeks so it will be a bit for the walker. But he can still use it to steady himself when he stands. He’s ok with the potty, but a shower chair is an excellent idea!!
If the walker has a seat Ron can sit in it, push backwards with his good foot. I got pretty good at getting around the house like that for six months.
Potty chair has arm rests which will make his life easier up and down.
Motion activated night lights, remove all rugs, remove stuff from surfaces he might hold onto such as counters/tables.
Shower protectors come in very handy! Please do not trust a trash bag. I did. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=waterpro...364131&tag=googhydr-20&ref=pd_sl_300uiyoo6s_b

Check out the iWalk. It allows much more activity than crutches or a scooter. Some people are able to jog using them There are several youtube videos besides the video on the linked page.

We have a modest home gym and he works out every day, to ensure a minimum of lost muscle mass and to maintain his strength. We both eat very healthily, minimum of processed foods, and lots of supplements. He’s already plotting how he can do a modified workout so that he maintains his strength. He’s an amazing man and I’m so proud of him. ❤️
That is what helped him not to get worse injuries. If he can do a little of exercise that sure will help him keep his muscle strength and also with his recovery, but make sure he asks his doctors what he can and cannot do, that is very important.

That's a shame. I hope he heals quickly. I know as we get older, our bones, muscles and tendons take longer to heal. but they do heal. It's just the pain and aggravation that hurts the most and is also most bothersome.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery. Please keep in touch.

This makes perfect sense in the house for the next couple of months.

The ability of convalesce and also get stuff is so important. After getting used to the hour by hour stuff,
he will most likely swear it the best stuff, just have to deal with the slow down, sit an on and off most likely.
Outdoors strolling would be best with the Knee bike. I see the knee bikes at resale shops all the time.
