Our best wishes to you both... I had the same heel injury falling off a roof about 20 years ago, no surgery on the foot as I also damaged the other knee and spent the next few months in a wheelchair. few more with a walking boot. But I’m so grateful that it wasn’t far worse as these kind of falls so often are.
If the walker has a seat Ron can sit in it, push backwards with his good foot. I got pretty good at getting around the house like that for six months.Very good points! We have the walker and wheel chair lined up though no weight on that foot for 8-12 weeks so it will be a bit for the walker. But he can still use it to steady himself when he stands. He’s ok with the potty, but a shower chair is an excellent idea!!
That is what helped him not to get worse injuries. If he can do a little of exercise that sure will help him keep his muscle strength and also with his recovery, but make sure he asks his doctors what he can and cannot do, that is very important. We have a modest home gym and he works out every day, to ensure a minimum of lost muscle mass and to maintain his strength. We both eat very healthily, minimum of processed foods, and lots of supplements. He’s already plotting how he can do a modified workout so that he maintains his strength. He’s an amazing man and I’m so proud of him.![]()
