Saw these "Boxables" on the internet

Gaer

"Angel whisperer"
One of the things I like about Elon Musk is he hires the brightest intelligence from all over the world, actually turns their designs into practical,
usable innovations to enhance humanity.
I understand these "Boxable" pre-fab homes of upgrade materials sell for as low as $10,000. (Though it looks that the most practical design is around $50,000.)
Not going to buy one because I already have a home but kudos to the great minds that came up with this idea!
I've penciled out ideas for this for years but never got past pencil drawings on napkins. I'm sure many people have had ideas along this line
but just think how this could house low income families all over the world.
I guess he lives in one himself!
He said he has "little interest in material trappings of wealth".

He has taken the whole concept of accumulating possessions, the yearly cruise, the finest vehicles, the biggest house, the most expensive
clothes, jewelry, etc. and turned it upside down. (put it in a different perspective)
We, as a human race, must change our whole way of thinking from "me, me, me" to helping mankind.
Anyway, I just saw these homes on the internet and got excited about the infinite possibilities for low cost housing.
So much intelligence and new, fresh, ideas on this Earth that never get to production.
Thought I'd like to get your opinions.

But please don't turn this into a character bashing thread. OK? Thanks.

Here's a video from a couple years ago that gives detail about boxable homes.

I agree . I was actually thinking about something like that when I built this place in 2001. But in this area they are frowned on by the builders & zoning.

This reminds me of that Bob Dylan song "Serve Somebody" "It might be the Devil, or it might be the Lord but your gonna have to serve somebody." I am not sure what happened to Bob to use these religious words but they represent what Elon is possibly doing. It is never the object that makes one's action "good" or "bad" but it is whether or not it is selfish or sharing.

Bonnie, Thank you for the video! I know there are many new videos on U-Tube about Boxable, but I couldn't transfer them on here.
I understand they have solved the problems he talks about. I found the videos under Elon Musk.
One of the videos said they can lower monthly payments on a $50,000 house to $250.00 a month.

Boy, If I were a land developer!

Thank you for starting this thread. I have seen these and they are needed. Seriously, small square footage is livable. I'm not talking about 120 square feet with a sleeping loft and the ceiling inches from your head. That's not livable IMO.

But I'm sure people would be thrilled to live in one of these on a little plot of land that can be theirs instead of renting an apartment to some corporate landlord who keeps raising rent.

While not a Boxable, there is a small house living development in the works in my town. With an aging senior population these types of living are getting lots of interest from a lot of people including me.

Rather than an apartment you still have a little patch of grass to call your own.
