School shooting in Madison, WI

I can see how she could write she had: "grown to hate people and society". Just LOOK at what kids see day to day in our society: rudeness, hate, arguing, disrespect for law enforcement and authority, shamed for being patriotic, choosing "race" identity over "National" identity - that of being an American; everyone calling someone who is homosexual or transgender or a cross-dresser "normal" i.e. presenting sexual deviations as "normal";
I'm gay and you are treading on thin ice right now. Keep your homophobia to yourself. Over 70% of the American population is fine with same-sex marriage so I consider that "normal" and you seem to be in the minority. For someone who is such an expert on how children's brains work you certainly don't know much about the adult brain.

Looks like we will have some interesting convos in this forum.

Each time I read about a school shooting, I get a flashback to the shooting here in PA in a small Amish town called West Nickel Mine. On that day, 11 little girls were shot with 5 being killed of which, 2 were sisters. It was a terrible day.

I was the second Trooper on the scene. The other Trooper and I Iwere getting ready to enter the school when the last bullet was fired, which turned out to be the killer shooting himself. I never seen so many frightened little girls. Many of them were crying.

The boys had all been sent outside and the shooter only wanted the girls to remain in the building. It’s hard to believe that it has been 18 years ago since the day of the shootings.

I helped wheel the little girls out to the ambulances while on the gurneys. Since that day, the school has been destroyed and a new school has been built at an unknown location, except for first responders.

You keep asking yourself, Why? Why?

When I read a different, earlier thread I wondered if you were a State Trooper when I saw you use the word "barracks".

Have two State Troopers in my family (MD); one Sheriff of a county in MD, one LEO son presently with a PD in Colorado. The job is one that not enough people appreciate. You all see it all and sometimes I wonder how one deals with it.

Cannot even imagine the horrifyingly surreal situation of being the second at such a scene with those little girls.

Am sorry you had to experience such. BIG hug.
You have my deepest respect for what you all go through (have been through) being our protectors from all sorts of hell.
Ya'll are all sheepdogs.

Again, the kid had a 9mm simi automatic and did the father let her have it. If so, he is going to prison.
That is so awful and really dumb parent. Teaching is not letting them have access. Another prison bitch he is.
An adult must make sure the firearms are unloaded and kept in safes where the young cannot access, no matter what.
This is not the wild west with naked savages about. Camera surveillances are about.

What 15 year old girl has a job and can afford $600 for a 9mm.

Sorry, but it is not 70 percent that is fine. Its 70 percent that don't care. Don't equate fine with acceptance.
I don't care about others alcohol drinking or smoking, but I don't accept it. I think its stupid, deadly and dangerous to your health, but I don't care. Again don't equate fine or ok with it as acceptance.
Famous line-I don't agree with your premise (actions), but I agree with your right to say it! (or do it)

Hold on there...the police have said that the handguns were obtained from an unknown source. The father had no guns, had no licence, and wasn't known to have any interest in firearms. Don't always jump to the conclusion it was in the home, had access, etc. Rumor is she bought it from a 'acquaintance' that sold drugs. Who knows at this point.

I didn't see that but with the Shot fired at the range the father did supply the firearm to the teen, one way or another.
A kid 15 year cannot do that with not having the firearm training. They have to go through that training. The Parent has to be there!

Wisconsin has no laws banning ownership. No permits or Licenses. 18 / 21 YEARS OF AGE IS ALL & Background checks.

So its all about trickery!
The Father most likely should get jail time. / This crap is gonna stop! No more F head kids killing sprees.

Parents' knowledge / guidance helping them deal with whatever hate / bulling whether it is students or teachers is a must have.

Heck ya have constant bulling on the forums. Its CB language actually. It never ends,

Of course a kid with GOOD parents can "go off the rails". However, if you do research the backgrounds of most mass shooters who were young, you will more likely find a common thread of a disturbed upbringing, than not.

No need to get snarky with me.

sorry you are perceiving it as snarky - seemed simple stating of facts to me and using your own words of 'my in depth experience and knowledge'

there may be disturbed aspects of upbringing, there may not, she may not have perfect parents, who does? - but most parents are doing the best they can ,not right to jump into witch hunting the parents on all sorts of imagined scenarios or on the fathers appearance  - which in photo shown in the thread is perfectly ordinary

What I see is a screwed up on and off Father and Mother relationship.
Maybe drugs? A certain person I point out as obviously the point.
Criminal is a Decision for the Legal system to decide. I see it as a point of view.
Drugs are a huge problem. There is no way to know except that it happens a lot.
The kid should not have had a 9mm. Finding that supply is the point I want to know.
Maybe stolen, sure that is always there, but who sold it and to who.

So are you saying guns kill people? Or is it that people kill people!
Cause my father taught my brother and I about guns when we were 7-10. My uncles (2) and my father and all his friends had and loved weapons. My father owned a few milspec weapons before Canada cracked down. We fired them all, learned everything about them.
Father was a police officer, retired, and went into govt security. I went into the military for 23 years spec forces, my brother currently in the forces still (6 years younger). My father had at any time 15-20 weapons in house...handguns, rifles. shotguns, military grade, and tons of ammo. Uncles house as well. When I got married and moved out, had my guns in the house. My brother the same. He has 2 kids in his house still.
Both my brother and I, and I'm sure my kids and his kids had some hard times in school/as teens etc. None of them went on a shooting spree. None of them became murderous or suicidal.

Here in Canada we have massive gun related crimes. Despite the toughest laws around. Toronto, Vancouver and other major cities police depts all spoke out at the govt for increasing gun laws. Saying it does not matter. -99 percent, repeat 99 percent- of crimes in canada are with illegal guns. So all the gun laws in the world don't change that.
Even if it did somehow stop the problem...China has murder sprees with kitchen knives. 23 people stabbed last month in a attack. It happens at least 3 times a year in China. The UK is famous for machete and knife attacks. Japan and S Korea have knife murders. So what do you do there? Ban kitchen knives?
Then you have my entire unit...each and every one had at least a black belt in some form of martial art, plus close quarters combat training, close protection training, and we all had real world hand to hand combat experience in hot zones. Any one of us has the training and ability to take out maybe 6-12 people before the police arrive, with our bare hands. Thats what we are trained to do.
Do you see any spec ops soldiers going on killing sprees? No you don't. We have the weapons skills to do way more damage than any one of these people. Hell we don't need guns. A good knife, our bare hands whatever. But we don't. You know why? Cause we are not insane!
Despite every one of us having some form of ptsd, none of us do that kind of crap.
Its these young people these days. Whether its the hormone disruptive additives in food, bad air or water, the horrible indoctrination in the school system, the constant left vs right mentality, the threats from one side or the other, the dei garbage, the racism, the gender/biology bullshit, the feminism or toxic masculinity that is force fed to every teen and minor in the west, and on and on and on yet again.
You know when I grew up there was none of this shit. We had no shootings, no issues, no suicides (in the numbers like today), no real issues.
Whether you want to hear it or not, or whether anyone likes these facts, we grew up with machine guns. We grew up when bullying was accepted/tolerated. When gay bashing was a thing. When men were men and had school fights all the time...but then were friends the next day. There was philosophy and psychology classes in school. Real physical education classes. Cooking classes, nutrition classes etc.
So you can attack guns all you want. I see you have a sore spot about it. But I hate to tell you thsi hard truth...Its not guns...Guns is not the problem. Society is!

Want to fix the gun problem? Fix society. Cause we didnt have that problem 40 years ago.

Oh, I'm so sorry you had to see all that. I remember the incident well and just reading about it was traumatizing for me.

If I recall correctly the Amish community, which is very big on forgiveness, officially forgave the shooter later on.
I will always be impressed with them, keeping the old ways seems to have aided them in keeping Jesus' core teachings fresh in their minds.

People kill people using guns. Guns make it so much faster and easier than knifing a dozen people.

My brothers and I grew up in house with no guns. My father was a WWII drill instructor. He did not love guns. We all grew up without knowing how to use guns or any other devices made expressly for killing. We turned out okay. One brother was accepted to West Point.

Most people with or without guns in the home grow up without taking guns to school and shooting their classmates. But all school shooters have used guns.

We need to remember when we discuss this, before we start terrifying the children with drills and arming teachers that the chance of a child being killed by a school shooter 2.2 in a million.

@Tazx
Are you a Canadian living in Europe, or a European living in Canada? If the latter, what country? If you don't mind me asking, and pardon me for getting off track for this thread.

Update on the this school shooting and the killer.

The suspect's parents are divorced and she was living mostly with her father. She had 2 guns on her at the time and it is unclear at this time where they came from.

She was also in contact with a California man promising an attack on a government building at the sametime. Have to wonder if helped gin her up so to speak for the attack although pos didn't keep his end of the bargain(in a good way). Puzzling relationship because he was 20 and the killer was 15.

Wisconsin school shooter had 2 guns and got messages from man accused of plotting his own attack

Too much speculation going on here. Where is the reliable sources for the info that some of you have.
They have not released why she was in therapy.
There is no mention of a manifesto.
They do not know her reasons for this tragedy.
They do not know where she acquired the guns.
Again, RELIABLE SOURCE!!!

All the false information flying around does not help the grieving families.

The two professions mentioned are not state troopers.

I doubt if the grieving families are reading this board. They probably have Facebook pages and "Go fund me" you can respond to if that's what you want to do.

We can speculate all we want, we are not on the jury.

Agree.
My posts about her possible issues are simply "speculation".

I am rather waiting for all the drop a pebble on an ant mound commotion to settle down.
Then I can attempt to find some reliable news source, without bias.

You DO realize I know that ohioboy? Sorry if my semicolons (argh! on my part) confused the picture.
TWO state troopers (Maryland)
ONE sheriff (Maryland - Worcester County)
ONE a LEO (Colorado, rubbing up against Denver a bigger city).

TOTAL of FOUR right now.
The fifth LEO will be in Michigan (a larger city ).
No news yet on #5, he has to redo his physical fitness test, as he would struggle a tad to chase perpetrators.

Parents and Teachers need to get youngsters to know that online friends mean harm most likely.
Heck most all communication needs to be ended. If there were none, no harm would be done.
All would dance and merriment would surround all.

My apology, meant no harm.

I don't think it's a choice between one or the other. I'd think that with the incidents that are occurring these days, the two can't really be separated. For a parallel, I remember when I was a boy I read about "surfing culture" in Southern California... you pretty much can't have a lot of surfing without surf boards.

There's a recorded history of school shootings going back to the 18th century. For two centuries, it didn't happen often, and when it did the weaponry available was more primitive and in certain ways more limited. The guns that people can get nowadays to shoot people in schools (or at a entertainment event) are often something like an AR15 or a Glock. Those seem to be available to those who really want one. Sure, a perpetrator has to be angry, vengeful, emotionally disturbed, etc. But no denying people with guns sometimes decide to kill people with their guns.

Your sarcasm is as cold honey. LOL. Creative!
