Senior gamers, what are you playing?

In my earlier post I forgot to say that my wife and I love hidden object/mystery computer games. We like the Mystery Case Files games the most, but have enjoyed a few others as well. The best Mystery Case Files game we played was one created for the Wii and was called Mystery Case Files: The Malgrave Incident. We played it during sea days while on a cruise. None of the other games has been quite as good overall but they all have a similar feel too them. We just bought the latest Mystery Case Files game and have been enjoying that as well.

I enjoyed those Ravenhurst games. Those were hella fun for me.

Strangely enough I just posted about those. If you haven't played The Malgrave Incident on your Wii, I highly recommend it. It's old so it should be relatively inexpensive if you can find it.

I had them all on my Nintendo handheld. I would play them straight through to the end. They didn't make near enough. I played them all. Usually took me like 3 hrs of non-stop play.

I see no reason why it can't but most people are doing electronic games. What kind of non-electronic games do you like? I enjoyed Monopoly and Uno & Go Fish.
Marci, I play dozens of different variations of Solitaire plus Cribbage, Hearts, Spades, Scrabble, the old standby Free Cell and others all on line.

Some I compete with the computer, some are just solo. Some are good for hand/eye coordination, some just keep brain cells moving. I believe in the theory 'use it or lose it.'

See my PM

Sorry, I mis-spoke. Clicking on your name only brings up 'follow' or 'ignore' . No PM. Don't know why. I've certainly been a member for long enough.

I haven't had time, energy, or the ability to find anything in years, but I like matching games like Bedazzled, some word puzzles, and games where I can shoot things like Turkey Shoot and Love's Arrow.

I was a huge fan of Pacman, Ms. Pacman, and even pinball in the 1980s.
A few years ago I noticed a local mall had an arcade, figured it was basically a "kid zone," but there wasn't a single kid in there- everybody playing was middle-aged and seniors!!!
Before the COVID-19 thing did away with normalcy, there were a couple of local folks who applied for a business permit and construction permits to create a business that would have "vintage" pinball type machines. When people questioned that as becoming a hangout for teens, the response was that kids are interested only in video games they can play on their own computers and phones, but that these pinball machines appeal to the middle age and up crowd. Your post seems to support that, and I do hope that these guys and gal get a chance to get the business going at some point.

In addition to Zuma, I like Super Collapse, Bridge Base online, and Freecell. Bridge base is a good way to keep up with your bridge playing skills without risking Covid. It's free. Go to bridgebase.com .

I also have an ancient mah jong type game called 21st century mah jong. Unfortunately, I don't think it's online any more. It features tiles showing animals, flowers, etc. and you have to match them, similar to a real mah jong game without the bams, dragons, dots, etc. I don't know how to play real mah jong, but this game is easy and very relaxing.

And there's always good old Tetris.

Pre iPhone days, I had a Nintendo Game Boy and numerous games. My nieces and nephews thought I was such a "cool" aunt. Now I enjoy various Solitaire games, Mahjong, Bubble Burst and Word Find type games. I play online but the ads were so intrusive I almost said forget it. I then discovered that AARP offers some games for free via their app. Card games, casino games, arcade games, crosswords, Sudoku, Hidden Objects, just about any kind of game you can think of. I decided to join AARP to gain access to even more games on the site. I also play Words With Friends.

I no longer even think about games that require half your hard drive, so I still prefer the older games that have a reasonable space requirement. I like Cold Waters, made using the Unity 3d game engine. It is a lot of fun and does have some major flaws, such as not being able to stop playing and save at your own discretion. You can only save a game if you are on the main map area between old and new missions. That to me is pretty crazy due to the game going to sleep at times when you have a recent unknown contact that goes blank on the sonar. You sit there and sit there and sit there and never again see the new contact. It is a bug and bad programming on the authors part. They made some errors with the AI and it pretty much was never fixed. All that said it is fun and very rewarding to sneak into a patrolled area to launch 8 cruise missiles then try and get out of the area fast but impossible unless you want to be seen. It is still fun and great graphics. I found that if I just close or shut down the game you will restart at the same place you saved the first time and it gets no easier but at least you know what to expect when you restart the scenario.

I bought another Switch so I now have 2. 😁

I have about 12 games or so on there? They're always adding more to their list online for me to look at. I usually go to YouTube and look at the gameplay before I buy.

Also saw a show on the Roblox game. I think I might like that. Gonna look into that this coming weekend.

After blowing through midlife (i.e. 50 and beyond), I enjoyed playing things like Railroad Tycoon, Silent Hunter (a submarine simulator) and several flight simulators. Now, I enjoy an occasional game of Mahjong. Many years ago I played a lot of backgammon but have forgotten how to play, especially all the strategy I once learned/knew. In my youth, we played a lot of gin rummy and buck euchre. Never did develop an interest in poker or bridge.

I am not regretting purchasing this Nintendo Switch at all. It's sooooooo much better than the 3DS I had. I have found other adults who like playing the same games. It's kinda neat.

Matt if you read this please check in.

I never was much of a "gamer" .... The fish and game club my Dad hung out at had a table shuffle board and
Pinball machine... Our kids didnt have gaming system growing up... Poor things, but they did have a few PC games.
Mostly driving or action adventure type games. I got into Playing Tomb Raider and Age of Empires for a while.

A few years ago or grandson kept talking about killing zombies and stuff in a game called Minecraft
So I look it up and got hooked on playing it.

So I got my Nintendo Switch last...I wanna say October. I've been playing Animal Crossing New Horizons. They took all the characters to an island this round instead of a city like normal. There's lots to do and much to enjoy about this game. I'm in a heavy construction cycle right now as ideas form for island design. I have two to tend to so I'm looking at all kinds of ideas.

It keeps me busy and occupied.
