Shortages

Imagine what our parents went through during WW2... things were severely rationed. I remember growing up, my mother still had the habit of sponging off tin foil and folding it into a drawer for a second use.

Yes, I still call it "tin foil".
I do that as well. I even reuse clean clingwrap, putting it on the fridge for next use. Same as plastic sandwich bags, I bought a pack of 150 two and a half years ago, there is still at least half of them left. I reuse then constantly.

I don't think I've made plastic bags last as long as you (well done), but I too re-use, including cling wrap. I also use waxed paper. I keep used bags and wraps in the fridge, unless I used them for something dry. I re-use as long as safely possible.

A lot of people at work go out and get lunch or even have it delivered. I see the plastic bags the food came in, in the garbage and think 'that's a garbage bag.' But they just throw it out.

Edit to add: Empty bread and other bags are usually used for litter box cleaning and I may even double them for garbage bags.

Saves the environment and saves me money. No losers.
