What type of chaos would be created if you truly had the ear of God and He acted upon your prayers?
In my case... I think NO was the best answer for the rest of humanity.I tend to be agnostic mainly because my prayers were never answered, unless the answer was always no.
It's good to hear. However, "my heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?"I do have the ear of God. So does "whosoever calleth on Him".No chaos has ensued, I tend to pray for UN-chaotic things.
God.It's good to hear. However, "my heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?"
But if freewill exists your heart cannot be changed unless you agree and thus answering prayers from whosoever calls on Him may cause chaos.God.
No. God always answers our prayers. Yes, no, or not yet. When we ask amiss, obviously those will not come to be. Also, the Lord cleans our heart from all the junk. But if freewill exists your heart cannot be changed unless you agree and thus answering prayers from whosoever calls on Him may cause chaos.
yesIron sharpens iron, but it also sorts out the dull blades, No?
God wants us to ask! He is glorified when we lean on Him.I pray every day. But the purpose of my praying is simply for awareness-- reinforcing my belief that there is a god, a higher power, whose will is done. The notion of me praying for anything specific strikes me a ridiculous. "Look here, God, here is what I want you to do." As if my tiny infinitesimal desire would have any bearing on anything except my own feelings.
Too often we lean on our own desires and want Him to make them manifest.God wants us to ask! He is glorified when we lean on Him.
Oh sure! We definitely are guilty of that. We become a new creature in Christ, but still are (temporarily) stuck in these carnal bodies.Too often we lean on our own desires and want Him to make them manifest.
I tried that. Then I left the Catholic Church.God wants us to ask! He is glorified when we lean on Him.
You mean "should God grant us our wishes", right? I pray for forgiveness, for the well being of myself and loved ones. I'm not expecting an "answer" per se. I don't gauge my prayer efforts as successful or a failure, God will do as His will dictates.Should God answer your prayers?
I like that thought! and some great all round answers here - reminds me of something I've mentioned from time to time - true story of a seasoned mountaineer in usa who went out with his buddy - got stuck up a mountain and found he was short of some essential tools. I won't say anymore - just will look for the dvd - well shows you how long ago that was but never mind just pick anyone out of this lot and you'll get an identical taleGod wants us to ask! He is glorified when we lean on Him.
Have you read the OT book of Job? The message is basically that God decides, not we mere mortals. What type of chaos would be created if you truly had the ear of God and He acted upon your prayers?
Good for you!I tried that. Then I left the Catholic Church.
