Show Us Your House or A Little Corner in Your Home!

Here is a basement shower I fixed up. I re-tiled it, added a ceiling and light, and made it a little wider with a storage ledge. Took forever but it is nice to have!

Originally, it was dark and smelly, the tile was falling off, and it leaked out the bottom so we just used it as a storage closet.

Nice! Just how long did it take? Asking for a friend. 😊

I am almost embarrassed to say, but it took me well over a year, although it was not a solid year of work but weekends here and there. That included stripping off all the old tile, grinding down the existing concrete level, attaching Du-rock tile backer board with concrete screws and mortar, coating it all with a red latex sealant from HomeDepot, installing and grouting the tile, the floor, ceiling, and one wall at a time, getting all the plumbing and electric in, and sealing it all. I was quite careful in custom cutting many tiles to accommodate the not so square enclosure to keep my grout lines exactly at 1/8” so I would not get more leaking. Each wall was grouted at the corner and then the next wall was grouted to the existing wall.

Reasonable time. I have one that's been out of commission for over four years because it needs regrouting. Can't get it wet because it's always going to get done soon. Then it doesn't and no one else can touch it.
That was another story on relationship thread. Sorry, you touched my nerve.
Yours is beautiful. Good work.
