So many people dying before reaching "Average Life Expectancy"

I have come to the realization that doctor's motives are not as pure as they once seemed to be. I watched my father start a drug, have to take another drug to counteract the ill effects of the first drug, repeat..........

I am not sure if it is because I am now on Medicare, because I moved to a rural area or just the changing nature of health care in general but it sure "ain't what it used to be". My doctor does not communicate, does not follow up, seldom offers a diagnosis and openly express the belief that he is not making the money he wants. Unfortunately there is not much in the way of medical professionals to choose from in this area. They seem to congregate in areas where the money is.
I hear you!
My "specialist" office sends out a letter signed with a mysterious Erin E. telling me there was no change in my results, but even someone as dumb as me can see the change in numbers ... so I had to interpret the results through Google, yikes. Then, when I need a prescription refill it is leave a message on their machine and wait for their automated return call with misinformation. They never miss the opportunity to bill Medicare!

I'm not 100% sure what you mean, but you're probably correct.

It's like too many people don't take any responsibility for what they do or the consequences.
Sorry, poor wording/presentation on my part - my intent was to highlight the finger pointing "I blame society" attitude which is all too often approbated by many. "Personal responsibility? What's that?"

Not to heap more on obese people, but when the Golden Corral opened up here, I was thrilled, but then saw patrons at different times, some I'd seen there many times and I never knew so many 400+ lb people lived here.
Yes, Disgustedman: I have been to "All You Can Eat Buffets" when I was much younger. I too was shocked at all the big and fat people. I was amazed at how much they could pile on the plate and then go back for more. Of course, plenty of desserts at the end.

Hey! You gotta "get your money's worth", don't you?

Maybe pay attention to your own plate?

My dad, a WWII returned serviceman (New Guinea), died from a heart attack a few days after his 59th birthday. In New Guinea he contracted malaria and denge fever. He was a smoker, liked a few beers with his mates, had a sedentary job and, while not obese, was carrying an extra stone or two.

Mum lived to 91. She was an energetic woman but ate the usual English diet that had too much sugar, starch and saturated fats. Senile dementia caused her decline and fall from the land of the living.

I'm very much like my Dad in temperament but my diet is a lot better. I am also very well monitored by my GP. Every day I jokingly say that I expect to live another 10 years (I turn 80 next month). Actually, I'm only half joking. If I don't suffer a stroke or coronary, both of which tended to run through previous generations on both sides of the pedigree, I think ten years is not unrealistic. Five of them would probably be good years but I understand that the last five years of life are years of decline with associated illness and incapacity.

Can't complain though. It has all been wonderful thus far. 😊

I have read your replies with interest, all causes are true
and I don't know which is the biggest killer.

Somebody said that obesity was a disease, over here a
few years ago, any obese person, was refused a medical
Procedure until they lost some weight, this is a wrong
decision, I feel, as some people put on weight due to
prescription drugs and the same places who refused to
treat a fat person, regularly treat alcoholics and drug
addicts, this is a poor comparison, but young Doctors
don't seem to be as compassionate as the older ones.

The biggest killer is, "Death", in all its disguises, in my
thinking.

Mike.

Someone mentioned pollution, this one is a real eye opener:

What's even worse is there's an exemption that allows private gas airplanes to continue using leaded gasoline.

Edit: I didn't realize this was a 25 minute clip but it is about leaded gasoline and a worth while view.

When my father was in his late 80s, his doctor retired and his new doctor prescribed a cholesterol pill - not because my father had high cholesterol, but because she thought everyone should take it.
That's an example of a doctor who is well paid by drug companies to be a legalized pusher.
Similar to some doctors who said "Everyone should be taking Metformin whether they are diabetic or not....to prevent diabetes."

I thought that was because it appears to slow aging or something like that?
I haven't heard of Metformin slowing aging, but it wouldn't surprise me; after all......the Covid vaccines prevent serious illness.
And the flu shots make your illness shorter.
And doctor-recommended Nugenics man booster gives men more energy, muscle & drive. And she'll like it too. 😂

In the past week my son told me about two other friends of his dying. One was someone he used to play with when he visited my parents. They lived on the block where he met and became good friends with other young children; their bonds still remain. The other was a fellow deejay. And if I'm not mistaken, someone else he knew had died a week or two before. We're talking about people in their early to mid 50s. I feel so bad for him, having lost so many people he cared about over the last couple of years, including my precious DIL, one of his sisters-in-law and his good friend Dave who he grew up playing with in the our complex. Dave died of a heart attack just a couple of hours after texting a friend that he had to go to the hospital. My son said he and Dave texted each other or kept in touch on Facebook almost daily. It's all so sad.
