So, what was it that told you weren't "young"?

I was in a rock band in high school. While shopping with my children in a mall, an old Beatle song came on. I said, "I use to play that song with my band". One of my children asked, "Who is that?" I said, "The Beatles". All my kids looked at me and said, "WHO'S THE BEATLES?" (That was 35 years ago). Ouch.

I knew that I wasn't old when my shipmates kidded me about getting gray hair when I was only 23.

It was different when I had a knee replacement on my 70th birthday. That was 19 years ago.

52 years ago, February 15th 1971 to be exact, the UK currency changed to a decimal system. Previously there were two hundred and forty pennies in the pound, now there are just one hundred.

Our previous currency had colourful names for the coins, like tanner, for the six penny piece and shilling for the twelve penny coin. The fact that I can remember all that is not what makes me "old."

Today I changed energy suppliers, the young lady that I spoke to explained how their payment systems work. I joked about how, as a boy, I remember putting a shilling in the meter. The lady had never heard of a shilling, I then shared a similar ignorance. Although I have heard of the term PayPal, I have not the first idea what it is or does or how it works. We ended our conversation with her saying that she would Google shilling and I said that I would do likewise with PayPal.

Just like @hollydolly and @Born_To_Lose I too looked young for my age. I was asked for I.D. when ordering a beer when I was 27! I still (according to all accounts) look much younger than my 87 years, but the rest of my body is pathetic! :D
Well, I must be honest. I cheated and had a complete face left when I was 38 years old, plus 5 years ago, I opted to have all my teeth pulled and had implants put in. I bought a tanning bad for here at home, which also helped. I look much younger than I am. I probably have more Botox in my face and neck than Marta Stewart. I kept all my hair, but do have it dyed every 5-8 weeks. Depends on how much swimming I do.
