“The thing about smart people is that they seem like crazy people to dumb people.” -Stephan Hawking

Word, there is this young lady at work. Sadly she is a clone of estranged daughter, add to that she works at a big corporate that fired me. Tonight she tried to show me the "proper" way to sweep behind the register. Okay, I didn't go off on her but the store manager yes. I am old enough to be her Grandmother. I was working this crap job before she were even conceived.

Don't you try to go micro-managing you little resting bitch face...you aren't even a manager but a corporate idiot just like me. Grrrrrr I had to smooth my own hackles. I need to maybe follow EMS training, something, anything, where I don't have twenty-something's thinking they have more experience at Life 101.

Generally, if you give people like that enough rope they will manage to hang their own selves, and don't tell them the gun is loaded, they will take their self's out! If their stupid let them prove it!

Practise the Mr Spock one eyebrow raise.
It is very eloquent.

You must say nothing and have a stoney face for full effect.

You should thank her for the instruction and ask her what else she can teach you...:eek:nthego:

I couldn't help it. I folded my arms and giggled at the situation.I just looked at her and said " F'Real?". You know she didn't know I was laughing at her.

Sorry, Hawking's quote has little to do with your personal gripe. "The thing about [dumb] people" is they are irritating, and often dangerous to themselves and others.

I had to laugh, because I just had a similar woman behind me at the supermarket check-it-yourself counter. She seemed to think I had no idea how to operate the thing, and kept giving me "advice" which would be appropriate for someone who has been on Mars for the the last 5 years. I have been using that thing since it first appeared in all the markets, and move very quickly, so I was not being needlessly slow, much less confused! She just apparently felt she had to micromanage my putting my groceries on the belt, ringing up the payment, etc. I just ignored her, but she didn't seem to take the hint. Probably thought she was being helpful.

I'd say it's ageism, but she was at least as old as I am!

Sounds like a case of loneliness to me.

I think it's the perfect quote. I've had other jobs where people with seniority were not necessarily the brightest crayons in the box. Rather than try to understand someone bookish and quiet, possibly just overwhelmed and shy...they make the mistake of thinking you are slow.

I am running out of elders. I find myself sometimes wondering if "so and so" that I knew years ago is till around?

Me too Manatee. I am now the family matriarch and it could get rather lonely from now on.
Just as well I can talk the leg off an iron pot or I would soon become a recluse.

I have learned that there are times, granted rare but they are there, when an extremely rude and offensive response is the most effective not to say satisfying way to deal with a thing.

Yes, they are all starting to pass on now...
