When I was a child in the 1950's, there were times that I didn't want to continue living in my childhood. 2 ignorant parents. I was a child bed wetter. Their constant beatings (especially one of them). Their constant shaming and verbal abuse (once again, one of them). I didn't want to keep going through that. But I did manage though. I've never thought about suicide since then. Now being much older, I think a person should be allowed to end their life, if they are in terrible physical or financial condition. Some people are just bored and they have nothing to look forward to anymore.
Back in the 1970's, I heard on the radio that actor George Sanders took his own life and left a note saying that he was bored and that he had lived long enough. It started me wondering if other people when they got older felt the same way.
