Taliban Government in Afghanistan

I'm asking you who he is.

I have identified him TWICE on the same posts you have just read and scoffed at. Now, re-read them and you will know that his view is to be respected. Especially if you support Bush's wars in the Middle East.

Do not fight mes enfants. Monsieur Murmur is this the information you require?

Jonathan Nicholas Powell (born 14 August 1956) is a British diplomat who served as the first Downing Street Chief of Staff, under British prime minister Tony Blair from 1997 to 2007. He was the only senior adviser to last the whole period of Blair's leadership.

Jonathan Powell was chief British negotiator in Northern Ireland, 1997-2007

But you only identified him as "the distinguished writer", which doesn't tell me a whole lot. I searched the name and got a guy who did lots of BBC drama programs, a doctor, and a trumpet player.

But, never mind.

Data previously posted - the third time should be the charm as they say.

As for "fighting", it's not me making the immature attacks on people. I post the facts and back them up with links to prove what I say. Let the facts speak for themselves.

Thank you. And apparently he's also a distinguished writer?

I have studied in the US. My second wife is an American citizen. I have visited a number of countries around the world including Saudi Arabia, Israel, Denmark, France, Greece, US, UK, Soviet Union and some others.

I admire and I am thankful to the US for their progress in medicine, technology and a number of other areas.

BUT:
The bitter truth is that the US are trying to police the world and profit from it. Much like the British Empire tried to do when they were still an empire. Much like the Soviet Union tried to do when they were still alive. Much like China is going to do as soon as the US give up the throne.

Does that make me an American hater? I don't think so.
I strongly disagree with you. The USA did NOT make a profit from the war in Afghanistan. Quite the opposite. We went into deep debt the finance the war on terrorism.

The weapon industries made big money out of it. As well as those on the payroll of the weapon industries. The country itself didn't do it simply because they didn't manage to control Afghanistan. (Similar to the Russians before them).

You and one other seem to be obsessed with the profits made by weapons industry. I don't get your point. Do you object to private industry ? Do you believe that weapons industry should LOSE money?

Can't elaborate further. I'm hamstrung by the rules here on Seniorforums

I object to wars being carried out just for the weapons industries to make money. For instance the bombing of Yugoslavia where they used expired bombs!!!

The truth hurts.
What you said is not the truth.
Saying that somebody hopes for the destruction of their country is not the truth!
He certainly writes exactly like someone who hates America and hopes for its destruction. BESIDES I'M NOT SURE WHAT COUNTRY HE IS FROM. HE READS THE GUARDIAN. SOUNDS LIKE A BRIT TO ME.

His post #53 implies that he is American. In any case: If one is opposing US policy abroad (like I do. I consider the US to be directly responsible for the suffering of my country) that doesn't necessarily make him a "US hater hoping for her destruction."

I'll tell you one thing: Many were glad when the Soviet Union went down. I wasn't one of them because I knew what would happen. US would try to bully the world. And I'm telling you now: I don't want the US to go down either. Because if they do BEFORE China is ready to take over there will be chaos all over the world.

Oh, give me a freaking break. That is a bizarre idea. Sounds like something Al Jazeera or Pravda would write.

Have a look at this:

That's one of the unexploded bombs collected in Yugoslavia during the bombardment of 1999. The bomb expired in 1997. You can choose to call it "fake news" if you like but the photo went viral in 1999. Everywhere EXCEPT in the US.

That's another one:

You, the patriot, do not care if your Government is buying expired weapons from the weapon industries or they are using expired weapons just to buy new ones. That doesn't sound very patriotic to me.
Ha Ha Ha Have it your way.
